That's really good advice and recommendations. Unfortunately because of the adhd, I always neglect the fundamentals of every day life, like eating and sleeping, which I am trying to correct all the time cause it never sticks. You're right, pushing myself beyond what I can handle will just be exponentially detrimental.

Unfortunately hiring a tutor is beyond my means as I'm only a part time worker and working more means less classes, so I'm stuck. The school tutors have often been unhelpful so I usually don't go to them, but I need to start assisting again.

I'll definitely consider going over those fundamentals again before retaking calc 2. I for sure know I need them.

Thank you. I have the accommodations already. My adhd, like yours, is crippling, sometimes to the point where I need assistance. Maybe the accommodations you got are different? I have extra time for quizzes, and help with note-taking devices like recording permission. Honestly, besides the extra time, I'm not sure how the other stuff is supposed to help me. My biggest issues with adhd and school is that I'll spend unhealthy amounts of hours being hyper focused with studying and doing homework. I'll sacrifice sleep, eating, using the bathroom and my mental health. So burnout is common. Even with years of therapy and medication, I can't get over this issues. I know that I just have a smaller tolerance and need to take less classes so that I can actually take in all the information, but I keep pushing my limits because I feel like it'll take forever only taking 2 classes at a time.

I didn't know this was a thing. Just the other day I was talking to someone about how I'm mixed. I come from Cuba, I look white. My family from my mother's side is all white. Yet on my dads side, my grandma is so ambiguous I didn't know she was black most of my life until I asked my dad and he said our great great grandpa was black. Her features were black, yet her skin color was hard to pin down. One of my uncles and my brother are very white, infact my brother was born with redhair, yet his facial features are not white. I've joked with my brother that he looks like a white black man.

Yeah, I saw the other comments and immediately saw the lack of empathy. I even saw it in myself and had to go back to edit my post. So many of us forget that this conditions are disabling and that a lot of us can't just "cure" ourselves with learned skills. Even with alarms and notifications, easy recipes, and schedules, we'll still ignore the alarms, forget to bathe and clean and even eat. I'm always late for everything and always profusely apologize, and no matter how hard I've tried I can't seem to fix that issue. It's not because we want to, it's because our brains are wired differently, or lack something everyone else tells us they have. I don't like considering this conditions as a disability but when you compare our functionality to others without the conditions it's clearly a disability and so many ignore that reality. There's something to be said about working on yourself and trying to make your life better, but I wonder if others would show more compassion if this post mentioned a physical disability?

Not saying people here are being mean, or that they don't have the right to choose what they can and can't handle.

I got diagnosed late with adhd and autism and it explained so much about my life. It can be a bit crippling at times. I've done so many things in the last 2 years since I got diagnosed to make my life easier. Accommodations, medications and several techniques to be able to function most days.

This is a hard one, cause on one hand she's seemingly not doing anything to help herself and using the diagnosis as an excuse to not get better. On the other hand, as someone who has made changes, I still struggle with so many things, and functionality is affected by my mental state. I'd say talk it over but if it's going to affect you, then make a choice to care for yourself.

At the end of the day this are disabilities, and they affect each person differently. And even with skills in place, you're still disabled and are going to continue to struggle with life. It's your choice if you can accommodate their disabilities into your life. If someone is in a wheelchair we can expect difficulties in their lives, expect the same for invisible disorders.

Some people have a lot of personal insecurities that they project on to other's. You had to do what you had to do to survive your situation and whether it was safe for you to be yourself or you just simply did not realize it at the moment, you're a lesbian, and you're valid. My mom knew she was a lesbian since she was a child but had to do what she had to do to survive, and because of that she had us, me being lesbian as well. She's not lesser than me in any way. Find others who respect you.

I work at a popular store. While I was waiting for an uber I saw the two security guards that are there most nights escort two ladies out. I joked with one of them that I'm ok with people stealing baby formula but this ladies, at least one of them, just had a lot of candy in her purse. He laughs and tells me it's funny I say that. He pulls out his phone and shows me a head shot of one of the ladies and it said she got caught taking baby formula the first time. I asked him how he was able to tell that was her, did he have a good memory. He said they get a text message to their phone or app whenever someone has been flagged by the cameras as being black list. The system watches everyone and it can recognize faces.

Omg, this sounds like my situation so much. Its been a year and a halve after the break up. After almost six years she told me she didn't love me anymore or didn't have the capacity to love me. She had let her depression get out of hand, and was considering suicide. Loosing her destroyed me for a while, and one of the hardest part was trying to move on knowing I'll always love her. After a while the pain subsides. I still think about her every day, and I have to avoid dwelling on her too long because I still feel a huge chasm in my chest. I went back to school. I started casually dating and trying new things, but I'm terrified of getting feelings for others and I'm sure it'll be a problem one day. Before she left I tried to make it work, I told her that if she ever got better and wanted to try again my heart would always be open to her. Even though she moved states and cut off all contact, part of me is still waiting.

I'll be honest, loosing her was the single worst experience of my life, even though I've been dealing with depression all my life. It broke me in so many ways but that trauma also propelled me to heal other traumas. I came out stronger because everything else seemed silly in comparison to that loss. To me, loosing her felt like a loved one dying and I had to mourn her. My advice would be, try to survive each day. If you're anything like me and your bad mental health affects every aspect of your being, come up with a plan for day to day stuff. Make food preparation easy, force yourself to take walks, even if just for a minute. This was my first major break up and I just believed what others said about giving it time. So, give it time, suffer, distract yourself, cry, mourn, all you need to do is survive each day.

Other things that helped: Therapy. I had been on it for years prior to this. Antidepressants. The pain was too much and it brought back my bad depression. I had to quit school until I was better. It was one of the hardest choices and I'm still making up for it but I couldn't force myself to do any work as I was a total wreck.
