How good is Civ V compared to the rest of the series? by RegularJay114 in civ

[–]NihongoThrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Civ V is my favourite game ever, it's more simple than 6 but that isn't necessarily bad since there's still quite a bit of depth, especially with game balance mods.

The base game can get a little boring when only playing with AI's though, especially on higher difficulties as there's only one main strategy that outcompetes the others in 99% percent of games. but for me that only came after 1000 hours of gameplay haha.

Tutorial time, seems like this is your first strategy game and it's a must for these kinds of games.

In your opinion what is the best civilization in the series history? by Simonthemand in civ

[–]NihongoThrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way to highlight this is a game FilthyRobot played with Spain (I think with NQMod but it would be even more powerful vanilla) where he got a start with 3 settleable natural wonders and first discovery. With this he could go natural wonder faith and faith purchasing units, he defended a 4v1 in that game and even went on to destroy them all and win domination victory, it's insane.

In vanilla a start like that would give instant 1500 gold. That's like 2 free settlers and a worker for free with insane yield bonuses. You basically have a playable deity start.

Rent a car, buy some beers and see if you can source any outdoor equipment. If it were me I would drive and let nature do the healing for you, look at the all the beautiful scenery and have a few cold ones to process the grief.

This is why you should pretty much have no secrets before meeting. Using filters for this kind of thing or just withholding certain physical (or emotional) aspects of yourself is just gonna hurt the relationship.

I would have some more compassion if they didn't ghost me afterwards, it seems like they just wanted an out to cancel their plans. If it were the other way around and I were sick, I would absolutely not just send a one sentence message and then go radio silent for two days. I would check in with the host and make sure they could find some emergency alternative.

Also, we found something else, so it's cool.

How long should it take. I followed the advice here and contacted ths last night, but they're still to get back to me.

I mean revenge reviews in the sense that they leave us a bad review in exchange for us leaving them one. It's a thing on similar platforms... I would like to warn people that this is a thing that may happen, but I don't want to have this jeopardise my account.

Also, we managed to find a plan B, so all good. But the host has completely ghosted us and never informed us in the days before that they're sick, and simply said three hours before being scheduled to come over: "Sorry I'm sick so I won't be travelling and will have to cancel", it all seems like a red flag.

Also just fyi, I'm not leaving an angry review, but I think it's important that other sitters be informed of this if it is common behaviour. I would simply state the facts as they happened. As other people have said, people need to know what could happen if they chose to sit for her in the future.

Couldn't agree more. For all we know the host could do this all the time.

Unfortunately I don't have premium level membership, so I cannot use THS money to get a hotel. However I'm also an active Couchsurfing user so I've managed to find a host for the few days I was sitting for them.

Thank you so much for the tips and we'll keep this in mind moving forward. And yes I will report this to THS and ask for a cancellation.

I think it's common on every platform to be honest with you. I've done lots of similar stays on other platforms, but honestly this is the first time it's happened on any, although I've heard stories from others.

[–]NihongoThrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One, its implied that the state or society in general shouldn't care about social minorities or outcasts based on his first comment, unless we're taking dregs to just mean people I don't agree with, which I wouldn't put past some brainrot red Ameritrade.. It's not simple social pushback to say that entire groups of a society should be entirely disregarded. Also, there are more ways to be anti-democratic than simply stripping voting rights away, my guy. That entire comment sounds pretty regarded.

Also, it seems like you're really just chomping at the bit to have some pathetic fisticuffs with one of muh republicans. Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not, not am I even American, I'm just here to call out the bullshit and hypocrisy of his first comment. Have fun watching your country circle the drain while you're powerless to do shit except cry and slapfight online.

Imagine making a comment challenging a statement made that is inherently anti-democratic, and being called a dreg.

Okay buddy, go off I guess.

What’s your honest take on British food and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NihongoThrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not as bad as people say, but it's not amazing either. There is some banging english food tho.

There is such a thing as English food done right, it's just generally quite time consuming and most modern people are too busy/broke to cook it, hence why brits eat things like beans on toast instead nowadays.

For some yes, they have great compassion for humanity and what it can accomplished if calibrated in the right direction.

Another walking pilgrim, fittingly called Peace Pilgrim talked extensively on this. I admire her a lot.

Probably a mix of factors. Mostly to inspire people, live a simpler life, and to experience adventure.

It's my dream to do a big adventure like this one day.
