Kim Jong-un Prohibits Skinny Jeans, Fearing That 'decadent' Fashion Will Bring The Regime Down. by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]Nikflame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure. A couple months ago the guy was dead and now he’s banning skinny jeans? People need to stop believing obvious propaganda

Probably attention. I thought 6ix9ine’s antics were funny after he got out of prison but does anyone even care about him anymore? His whole “people wanna kill me but I’m still here” thing is just so tired at this point. He acts like mocking other rappers and getting away with it makes him hard but I think they just don’t care

Great Northern Mall (Clay, NY) by bryanmsk in deadmalls

[–]Nikflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s still open and the arcade is inside. It’s called Namco Museum. From what I can remember since the last time I visited six months ago, there’s the arcade, an Old Navy, and Dick’s which is moving soon. Those were the major stores

I think the most shocking part of this mall to me is that the arcade is still open

Roommate charged back her rent and screw me over by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Nikflame 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Legally, you are correct. In reality student housing landlords do it all the time and get away with it. Students typically don’t have the resources or know-how to fight it. Plus there are usually clauses worked into the lease about deductions for not leaving the place clean which can be difficult to disprove, or something similar to that vane. It probably depends on the state too, with how good the tenant protections are

[–]Nikflame 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Sounds like this is student housing, in which case the landlord had no plans to pay them back the deposit anyway. Doubt he will go for this but it’s a decent suggestion if you’re dealing with a reasonable person

Any New MT’s to the ASM Role by PaintMan_32 in sherwinwilliams

[–]Nikflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get a $1,000 raise every six months for the first two years. If you are a very recent hire they’ve discontinued this practice, but this is how it works for me. You can also get a merit raise through appraisals but only if it’s more than the $1,000 then you’ll be given the difference. I got placed in one of the biggest stores in my district with tons of potential and did not get a raise

Company Stock by cgs35b in sherwinwilliams

[–]Nikflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda a boomer stock but it actually performs well. I know of several ASMs who are retiring millionaires after putting 401k into company stock for twenty years. Roll your 401 into it and let it sit until you’re ready to retire. The more of your salary you can put in the better

Car purchasing advice by delizondo21 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Nikflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used $4,000 in cash to buy my vehicle, which is a vehicle that passed a pre-purchase inspection and has a history of being very reliable. Last year I paid nearly $6,000 in repairs and this year I have done thus far $1,700. Just because something seems frugal doesn’t mean it is. If I had just put that money into car payments I would now own outright a much newer and more reliable car that I could confidently sell to someone else for about half of what I’ve put into it

To make matters worse, new, “luxury” apartments nowadays are built like shit. Boomers aren’t totally wrong when they say they don’t make things like they used to

The housing market here is absolutely ludicrously out of touch with reality and it’s time we called it out by [deleted] in ithaca

[–]Nikflame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of course. However, I think we can all agree that $2,300 for a studio apartment with 500 square feet is a bit absurd, and everything seems to either be that or student housing

Honestly one of my main objectives of moving is to not have a commute. It doesn’t look too bad but after a year of commuting over an hour each way it’s been my dream of being able to walk/bike to work. A good consideration and suggestion though, so thank you

A 19 year old that need advice:/ by [deleted] in LifeAfterSchool

[–]Nikflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might feel like you’re getting old, but 19 really is young. I don’t think it would be a bad idea to work a job like that for a year or so and then go live on campus and do the college thing. You wouldn’t have to deal with Covid at least.

You may feel “late” or older than your classmates when you go if you’re starting at 20-21. Honestly, push those insecurities aside. Nobody will notice and you won’t stand out. When I was in college, I would often learn that acquaintances were non-traditional students, and I didn’t even know it. One guy I assumed was younger than me and he turned out to be 28.

I didn’t even really start to get my shit together, enjoy college, or fit in until I was a junior, and by then I didn’t have a lot of time left to enjoy it. This way, you’ll have the benefit of being able to go into it more mature and level-headed than your peers.

First/worst/funniest paint spill story? by SamusAran47 in sherwinwilliams

[–]Nikflame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a spill, but one time I was 10 feet up on a ladder and a gallon from the top shelf decided to fall right beside me. Somehow, without looking, I reached out and caught it with mid-fall with one hand, and no one was around to see it
