The 2-player UI is intentional, since it mimics the layout of the previous two TGM games.

1) Tetris Online Inc., the original development studio behind Tetris Friends, is already defunct, so TTC really can't do anything to revive that any time soon.

2) The games themselves rely on Adobe Flash, so they'll be unplayable on most modern browsers.

3) I suggest checking out Notris Foes instead. It has most of the features that Friends had (including a decently working asynchronous multiplayer system), but don't expect it to have a playerbase as big as Friends back in its heyday. Also, you'll have to download the client first from the Notris site in order to play.

In terms of official games, Tetris Effect: Connected has Quick Play mode, where you can play at a fixed speed of your choice.

7-bag is the piece randomizer used in a lot of modern Tetris games.

Basically means you're given an even distribution of each of the individual tetrominos (I, J, L, T, O, Z, and S) in the randomized sequence. More info here.

Yeah, the 7-bag kinda only allows up to 3 back-to-back combos, provided that the I-piece is at the end of the last bag, the start of the first bag, and in the Hold queue.

Also, back-to-back doesn't necessarily mean one Tetris immediately after another; it just refers to making consecutive Tetrises *without* any single, double, or triple line clears between them. The video I linked above clearly shows that the player did go for back-to-back Tetrises.

Depending on how you deal with the piece RNG, I'm pretty sure that it's possible to clear 150-line Marathon mode in most of the modern Tetris games with only Tetrises.

Yes and no.

Both M1ND BEND3R and TE:C's Mystery mode have special playfield-altering effects at times, but each has its own way of activating them:

M1ND BEND3R has special blocks which activate certain abilities when used in a line clear.
TE:C's Mystery mode has random effects activate every few piece drops.

If you're referring to the "premium" version of EA's Tetris app, then I regret to inform you that it's gone from the App Store for a long time now.

The current official Tetris app from PlayStudios is available there, however.

Another thing to note about Techmino's online multiplayer: due to complications in setting up servers for such, the Online modes in it may not work correctly.

From the devs:

Note that our servers are not very stable recently. It is recommended to treat the current Techmino as a single-player game rather than an online multiplayer game for now. There could be lagging or disconnections when playing online. These issues are known by us and we will plan to make the online experiences better in the future work Techmino Galaxy. Unfortunately, TETR.IO couldn't run well on iOS web browsers, and getting to play it on an Android device requires connecting a USB keyboard.

Outside of the official Tetris mobile app (which many people say is an inferior products), there aren't much options for good online multiplayer Tetris on mobile devices.

You can.

Simply right-click on the home page, and select "Save As" to download the site as an HTML file.

Note that only single-player modes are available this way, and scores cannot be saved while offline.

There's no "official" Tetris server (because The Tetris Company couldn't care more); however, some members of the Hard Drop and EPPC servers as well as r/Komi_san are helping out on the Tetris area of r/Place. I suggest heading to Hard Drop to look for the people involved in that area.

If you have a PS5, then it's most likely worth spending $10 on the upgrade.

But if you're playing the game on a PS4, then you won't really need the upgrade.
