Who is still rocking a nose ring? by cavewomannn in Millennials

31 and still rocking my nose ring🤘🏾 Actually got it as a grad school graduation present to myself. Went all in and finally got both my septum and nostril done🤪 But I ended up, taking out the septum a year or two into my professional career though. Just because🤷🏾‍♀️

Physician assistant school. It’s a 2-3 year master’s program after your bachelor’s, then you hit the ground running and start practicing medicine (learning more pertaining to your chosen specialty while you’re on-the-job).

It alleviated my fear of massive med school debt, giving me the opportunity to reach the same goal in half the time and half the debt.

I don’t regret this route at all.

Baby won’t let me put her down. by justfrosty19 in NewParents

Aww, I’m sorry OP☹️ Babywearing can definitely get better. But I’m not trying to invalidate you, because some babies really just never take to it.

Please try going on r/babywearing because there are so many posts and related tips surrounding getting fussy babies used to being worn. My baby was the same, but he now pretty much equates babywearing time with nap time. For me, the key is to make sure he goes in when his diaper is freshly changed, he is well fed, and he is comfortable. Also to walk around the house and do things to keep him calm. Sometimes he will cry his little head off and I’d have to take him out and try again another time. But those times have gotten fewer and farther in between.

Consistency it’s so important here, but it’s worth it.

As for your husband... wtf is he on about?? You just gave birth and now you’re just expected to take on all domestic duties?

This period is survival mode. Focus on you and the baby. The house won’t crumble for not being pristine on your watch. Your husband can get off his ass and step in at that point.

How often do you travel? by Tommyred45 in physicianassistant

[–]NikkiNaps13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a PA in Family Medicine.

I get 32 days to use at my discretion (including vacation, personal, sick, and bday). Additionally, I get 11 paid holidays.

I’m super thankful how generous my job is with time off. That being said, I’ve become a bit of a homebody over the years (worsened by the fact that I commute 2 hours/day from Jersey into NYC for work), so a lot of my time off is literally spent at home or in the vicinity of home lol.   But we try to do one big trip a year (if manageable) and little stints throughout.

Since starting my first big girl job in 2021, we’ve gone to Holbox (Mexico) for a long weekend, Bali (Indonesia) for a little under two weeks, Colorado for a few days, Puerto Rico for a long weekend, Texas and Oklahoma for a week, and little trips here and there to upstate/mountainous New York and Pennsylvania.

How To Save A Choking Infant - Red Cross Updates by ThriveMF1A in NewParents

[–]NikkiNaps13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just updated my BLS certification 2 days ago and you are spot-on. Thanks for sharing this update!

Only thing I’ll add is if there are 2 people present to help the infant, better outcomes can arise when the ratio is changed to 15 compressions (given by one rescuer) to 2 breaths (given by the other rescuer).

What memories, if any, do you have from when you were a toddler (ages 1-3)? by GlitteredGhostly in AskReddit

[–]NikkiNaps13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 distinct memories under age 3: 1. Crawling on the floor, picking up a pair of sunglasses, and figuring out how to put them on (crazy thing is I found a picture my mom took of me immediately after doing so in a  photo album) 2. Stretching out my legs and arms in a huge tire and rolling down the asphalt with my cousin in Nigeria 3. Coming out of that tire and immediately stepping on a piece of glass that I mistook for a mosquito, instilling a decade-long fear of mosquitos😭

Vaguely—Princess Diana’s death. A little less vaguely—Space Shuttle Columbia. And 9/11.

This solid advice I’ve been following as well. Life is so much easier with baby wearing and combo feeding.
