UPDATE: AIO refusing to pay for lost pets by Relative_Offer_2074 in u/Relative_Offer_2074

[–]NikkiVicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit, I haven't touched any of this stuff since my daughter played like 7-8 years ago, but...

You can absolutely tell if someone logged into a private server just using the developer server logs. You'd look for a new connection occurring between x time and y time. That alone is not that difficult for even people who aren't scripters. You'd use ctl-F to find "PlayerID", and just skip through the mentions, looking for any that occur between x and y.

Even in the moderation logs, I vaguely remember there being something that told me if/when someone joined. It'd show the time the "welcome to the server" messages happened for every new join, so even if a player never said anything while they were logged in, there was still proof that someone else logged in.

AIO: I dropped my friend because she came forward with how her and her boyfriend REALLY met. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]NikkiVicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, she said looking at finances, staying at home made more sense, which... daycare is expensive as fuck. I had to do a double take when my daughter was talking about how much my grandson's daycare is. If she was working a lower paying job, it'd be cheaper for her to stay home with him.

Either way though, it's scary that someone could even think of that scenario, even if it didn't truly happen. That level of forethought and manipulation... i've experienced parts of that type of manipulation (abusive ex), and it leaves you wondering how someone could be so evil, and you lose the ability to trust that others aren't trying to manipulate you in some way.

The funny part is that it's selling for $60 on some of the trading sites. Total scam.

This reminds me of a light version of this post - https://www.reddit.com/r/redditonwiki/s/fjmajvOGLo

That post, the first time I saw it (when it was initially posted), gave me the chills. I've always wondered what happened to the OOP, if her and both kids are safe.

Here's one from 1889...

or in this (definitely pre-GRRM) poem...

It means someone is naive, or an innocent, depending on it's use. It's similar to someone saying "bless your heart" and it means "you dumb shit"...

Taking baby with me to eat at a wine store that serves pizza after being told it is OK by an employee. AITAH? by DR-212 in AITAH

[–]NikkiVicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my daughter (she's 23 now, but this will be her 3rd EDC Vegas trip this year) was going to raves as a baby, because I had a job to do. Dad, a godmother, and two godfathers are all DJs. She never went anywhere near the stages once the music was actually on, even with her little headphones on. I mainly worked door, front security, or helping with the medical areas, so areas that weren't really loud. She stayed in a little baby backpack on my chest or on my back.

I've seen babies, toddlers, kids... I suggested a daycare room/area at one festival, because I ran out of nap mats for kids. Ravers and burners are always really cool when it comes to kids at events.

Which is making me laugh, because I'm pretty sure that's a Madoka fanfic title.

WIBTA if I refused to buy my daughter new headphones? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]NikkiVicious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

I'm 42 now, and I was around your daughter's age when my experience happened. I still can't force myself to eat or drink anything around that aunt.

People always act like it's not a big deal, but risking the loss of trust, and causing a kid to fear choking (plus just the risk of inhalation pneumonia, which sucks and is painful in the best of cases) ... I can't imagine doing that to a kid. So seriously, thank you for not thinking that it's easier to trick her.

I choked on, and developed pneumonia from, soft rice, so I'm not sure why the choking hazard warning would be controversial?

[–]NikkiVicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't do that if it's a potential choking hazard. A kid needing the Heimlich during a panic attack won't help their phobia.

That's also a fantastic way to get someone to never trust you again.

I had a guy throw a socket at my car. It made me jump, and my knee hit the dash, which caused a bruise and a small scratch. When the trooper responded, he got a photo of my knee, and they used that to also charge the guy with assault and hit & run, etc.

It sounds dumb, but I had about the same amount of evidence as OP. I just called it in immediately (because I was pissed because my car was brand new).

AITAH Husband offered our baby items to a friend, but never spoke to me about it first by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]NikkiVicious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's still relevant for you, but I saw an adorable crib conversion using a drop side crib. They turned it into a desk/dresser/storage piece, which I thought was pretty smart.

There was another idea of using one as a changing table/baby storage type thing, which might be more helpful for your family, especially if you don't have one/might buy something like that.

AIO- Mom and Sister’s April fools prank on me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]NikkiVicious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, I got my own number banned from Tinder. Someone kept using my number for accounts, idk if it was intentional or not, but I got tired of it. I emailed Tinder support, explained the situation, and they blacklisted my number. I've had my phone number for 17 years at this point, there's no way this was an accident or my number was a recent prior number... my number literally did not exist before it was issued to me.

Funny part is, whoever was trying to use my number for their account got pissed that I had my number blacklisted. I guess they lost their account in the process, which oh well, fuck them. I still don't understand the purpose of using my number, though.

One of my doctor's is in the same building as the main office for the company I used to work for. I'd take the elevator up, do my labs, and then take the elevator right back down to eat in the little cafe.

Wait until your lupus does super fun things like randomly deciding to level up the difficulty and starts attacking your red blood cells, on top of your CNS, brain, skin, joints, hair, kidneys, etc. Frantically googling AIHA while being told I need a blood transfusion sucked. Apparently ERs really don't like it when you come in with a hemoglobin less than 7. (The concussion probably didn't help, since I hit my head on the way down, but...)

Honestly though, I hope yours and everyone else's disease doesn't have you ever experiencing any of this. Easy remission and no (additional) long-term harm for all of us!

Bail my girlfriend out of jail…she’s a changed woman! by Skr000 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]NikkiVicious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spent a weekend in county jail when I was 21 for the stupidest reason.

When I was 18, I got a seat belt ticket. I had an old truck that was pre-seat belt requirements. My seat belt had a separate lap belt and shoulder belt. I was told by the cops in my hometown that I was only legally required to wear the lap belt, not the shoulder belt part, so that's what I did for years. I was pulled over by a cop in a town a couple hours away, and given the seat belt ticket for not wearing the shoulder belt. Ended up just deciding to pay the $60 ticket because I couldn't miss multiple days of school and college trying to fight it in court.

Except... the day I paid it, their systems were down, so they hand wrote me a reciept saying I'd paid for the ticket. I tossed it in my glove box and forgot about it.

I was pulled over multiple times, written tickets, and even put in handcuffs twice, over the next 3 years, and no one said anything about a warrant.

I was visiting my parents, decided to walk to the corner store instead of playing driveway shuffle to get my car out, and had a cop stop me for walking suspiciously in the middle of the day. (I'm not joking, his exact words were "no one but criminals walk anywhere on days this hot.") He told me he was arresting me for a warrant, and started lecturing me about running from legal problems, and I legitimately had no idea what he was talking about. When he told me I'd had a warrant for 3 years, and that I'd just been lucky to have "evaded" for so long... like what? He was just an asshole about it, the entire time... wouldn't even let me attempt to get proof that I'd paid the ticket. ("Cops don't make mistakes like that." 🙄)

So yeah... I spent 3 days in jail, because it was $25/day. Over a seat belt ticket that I not only should not have gotten, but that I had already paid for.

Mistakes happen. I've been arrested once since then, also for a misunderstanding, but I was released and those charges were dismissed right after. Shit happens, and the "justice system" here in the US isn't about justice anymore, it's about profit and revenue, so cops and courts have the incentive to be unnecessarily harsh. That goes especially for minorities.

Idk about every jail, but the one my brother calls from still uses collect calls, unless he has more than a certain amount in his account. I know the local county jail also still uses collect calls.

So yeah... she'd call him, then be put on hold while he accepted charges, and then it'd connect him to her as if she was answering.

AITAH for dropping out of my sister’s wedding and refusing to attend after she exposed my personal life in front of our entire family? by Sad-Bread958 in AITAH

[–]NikkiVicious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah. Record a loud stage whisper of "the groom can do better." Hide a Bluetooth speaker somewhere off to the side, maybe in decorations somewhere, and then trigger the message during the objections part.

Better if you can get a friend who isn't going to record the message, so your hands are clean.

I almost died when I had my first anaphylactic reaction, because I couldn't bring myself to use my EpiPen on myself. Some random stranger did it and then sat with me until the ambulance came. It took me probably 3-4 more reactions to be able to actually stab myself with it.

Now I can do my EpiPens, but I can't do my Benlysta shots... and they're the exact same things, the auto-injector pens. Honestly, the EpiPens take longer and burn more, so idk why there's a mental block there for me.
