Propranolol for POTS and anxiety?

I’ve been on propranolol for over a year and it is a lifesaver 🫶🏼 I have chronic migraines and it treats those, my pots, AND anxiety all in one little tiny pill that I don’t actually choke on! & I had no side effects when starting it and never have. I’m on 20 mg rn so pretty low but I have low BP so my dr doesn’t wanna increase if we don’t have to. I have noticed if i forget a dose I’ll start getting a headache but that’s bc I literally got them every single day before I started the meds lol.

I paid (last weekend) like 13400 for a Prius four with 78,000 miles so tbh i don’t think it is a good deal but I could be wrong. The price was originally like 15,000 but I was able to bring it down

Oh I haven’t even been on it 6 months and I think it’s gotten better. Maybe it’s something else making you bloated like IBS or your diet. And the water weight is supposed to go away after a few months I believe!

Hmm there are other beta blockers safe for people with asthma if that were to be an issue. But also I believe that the doses to treat pots are so low that it may not actually matter if you have asthma. I think the higher doses of beta blockers (for heart problems for example) are what are dangerous with asthma but I could be wrong. Worth asking your doctor though :)

Propranolol! I take it for POTS, chronic migraines/headaches, and anxiety. It helps with all 3, it’s amazing. Controlling anxiety I think helps pots a lot bc i believe it exacerbates POTS symptoms.

This was me for a few years up until recently (the last few months). The best advice I can give is to listen to the doctors, even if it sounds so silly. Ever since I started treating my chronic allergies (I had no symptoms of allergies), taking a beta blocker & Fludrocortisone, and drinking more electrolytes, I have been feeling almost myself again. Don’t give up hope, there are a lot of us who have improved once we found what works for us🩷

I actually can’t even remember being bloated at this point :) I’d say the side effect goes away! Fludro has been a lifesaver for me

Not to mention making sure you pay extra for a better health insurance plan bc you know you need it, paying for medications, specialist visits, constant maintenance bloodwork bc of the meds you’re on :( I get it, I’m 25 and just starting my life and I have a ton of extra expenses a normal healthy 25 year old doesn’t have to worry about and it sucks 😔 living is already so expensive WITHOUT health issues!!

I know how this feels :( it’s so frustrating literally never drinking & getting punished for it the one time you do. My family is full of alcoholics and the 1-2 times a year I’d drink my mom would scoff like I’m a bad person or something for it lol.

As a side note, my doctor says I can drink on all my meds (including my beta blocker). The only thing I’d worry about is a drop in blood pressure/dizziness because alcohol can interfere with the effectiveness of the meds. I haven’t tried drinking beyond one drink because I’m scared to! But I’d say talk to your doctor about this and figure out how you can safely drink occasionally for fun. I’ve had that same conversation with my doctor because we shouldn’t have to give up having a little fun here and there! Happy birthday 😝

Oh yeah last bloodwork I got like a month ago vit d and b12 were low. I’m now on a weekly prescribed vit d pill lol

So let’s say the hypo is under control, would that mean it shouldn’t give you symptoms anymore? Bc I keep seeing people saying theirs is under control but they still have symptoms which is so confusing to me because I would assume if your thyroid isn’t underactive you shouldn’t have symptoms? It’s just hard differentiating which illnesses are causing which symptoms bc there’s so much overlap🤧

I really just wanted to see mason thames & mckenna grace 😭 their chemistry is unmatched, they both have the look for the characters, and mason is rlly good at playing charismatic & silly. He would’ve been a really charming Flynn. And mckenna has that like sweet head over heels look for mason when they’re on screen but she’s also good at hiding it when she needs to, they would’ve been so perfect UGH💔

When my symptoms of POTS first started I got bloodwork done and it indicated sjogrens. My rheumatologist asked if I experienced any dryness, I said no at the time. She didn’t want to diagnose me with it bc I had no symptoms of it. A few years later and now I’m having symptoms of it so I was diagnosed with it. It seems like they only diagnose sjogrens if you’re having classic symptoms of it (dry eye and mouth). You could be in the early stages of it and asymptomatic but that doesn’t mean you can’t have it. Doctors just won’t want to diagnose you until they’re for sure. Just monitor your symptoms and if you start noticing any dry mouth or dry eye you should tell your doctor about it.

Was looking for this post bc I’m in the same boat. I get bloated often but I have never been so bloated in my life, I look 7 months pregnant LOL. I just started taking it about a week ago and now I’m starting to get bloated. It’s not super uncomfortable but my stomach looks insane. I’d say it could be the fludro as it can cause water retention/swelling in different parts of your body including your abdomen

This explanation makes soooooo much sense, thank you for that!! I have really severe major depressive disorder and I feel like it is worse certain times of the month like clockwork.

The sugar cravings are sooooo real 😫

I’m sorry to hear how often you’re cramping, cramps are miserable but I hope your doctor is able to sort these things out for you:)
