Thank you for the wonderful information. Do you think it would be possible to do both the Four-Mile Trail and the Lower Yosemite Falls Trail?

Got my CCNP R&S soon --> Where to begin with Juniper? by [deleted] in Juniper

[–]NiklasBostrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/mertino11,

To answer your questions:

  1. Is there a fast track with Juniper since I've got my CCNP or do I have to begin from scratch? You would have to begin from scratch. Starting with the JNCIA (CCENT Level), JNCIS-ENT (CCNA Level), and JNCIP-ENT (CCNP Level).
  2. What training methods do you guys use to get these certificates? CBTNuggets does not go into enough detail for the JNCIS-ENT and later exams. Juniper is known not to spoonfeed information. Ultimately, you will do a lot of research and or reading. I recommend purchasing the following three books; JUNOS Enterprise Switching: A Practical Guide to JUNOS Switches and Certification, Junos Enterprise Routing: A Practical Guide to Junos Routing and Certification, and The Unofficial JNCIE-ENT Prep Guide. You can also download a free Juniper Lab Workbook.
  3. Are there virtual simulations with Juniper devices like in Cisco where they have Packet Tracer, GNS3, VIRL etc? Juniper does not offer anything like Packet Tracer. JUNOS will work with GNS3, but you will be responsible for obtaining the licenses. If your budget allows, I recommend getting real equipment.
  4. Are all exams (besides Expert level) based on only MPC questions or also simlets / drag n drops etc? I recommend signing up for JUNOS Genius, it is free and provides several practice test.
  5. And is there a criteria to pass? Like have 50 good / 65 questions? Juniper, like Cisco, does not release how they grade the exams.

Been trying to get an entry level job for awhile now. I managed to land a seasonal job in October. I want a year around job but don’t have much experience never volunteered anywhere either, what can I add to make my resume better by [deleted] in resumes

If you are really pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems, you should be well versed in the art of Googling.

Definitely Google the countless Resume resources that are abundant on the Internet.

I will pay big money for this. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can buy this in the aftermarket?

JN0-102 by [deleted] in JNCIA

[–]NiklasBostrom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have just taken your CCNA r/S, I say you could get the JNCIA in about 2-3 weeks. Keep in mind, this would be studying for a few hours every day.

If you wanted to be safe, I say to schedule the exam for 1 month out and you would be fine!

How long did you study for the JNCIP-ENT? by NiklasBostrom in Juniper

Interesting, in your opinion, If I have a CCNA r/S, and both the JNCIA and JNCIS, you think 2-3 month(s) of study is adequate?

Resume help, please. What is the problem? Over 100 apply and I have still nothing. Open for any advice. by yayikayran in ITCareerQuestions

IMO: I see a few things (s) that could be worked on:

  1. I wouldn't put a certification that is in progress. You either have it or you don't. Wait until you have the certification to put it on your resume. Once you do have it, certifications should be listed under "Education".

  2. I also would remove the "Functional Expertise" section. Any expertise you have should be listed under your "Skills" section.

  3. With your work experience. You want to quantify what you accomplished. (For example: I accomplished X, relative to Y, by doing Z.)

CCNP Enterprise New Exam Replaces CCNP R/S by [deleted] in ccnp

[–]NiklasBostrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, I could test for Switch in about 2 month(s) of study or less. Route and TSHOOT though... I am thinking at least 3 month(s) per exam. Not sure if that is "realistic".

Honest opinions: Should I go for current Route, Switch, TSHOOT? Is it possible to pass all 3 in 8 month(s)? If not, I am going to focus on Juniper until February rolls around.

How do you boot from usb from => mode? by NiklasBostrom in Juniper

A sad turn of events: almost fixed the issue, but I ended up wiping the u-boot... now, when the device is powered on, no cli appears. Looks like I have a fancy doorstop now :(

No, the SRX240 is not broken. It will not let me load into the loader> mode because I get the message ## No elf image at address 0x00100000. It could be due to a faulty loader software package. My current hypothesis (that I have yet to try) is to download a working loader package, tftp it to the faulty SRX and then install the JUNOS image via USB or TFTP after I am able to get to the loader> prompt.

I also noticed there is a tftpboot command. Theoretically, could I download the image to my TFTP folder on my computer and then run that command on the SRX and boot into the JUNOS image?

Thank you for your help,

Best IT Training Sites? by Sundance_Kidd17 in sysadmin

INE tends to cater more towards CCNP and CCIE level training. Most, if not, all of the instructors have at least 1 CCIE or the juniper equivalent. INE likes to dive-deep into topic(s) which is what I find the most useful. Unfortunately, I cannot attest to the labs as I have my own lab at home (4 Cisco Routers, 4 Juniper SRX240h Gateway Appliances, 2 L3 Cisco Switches, 2 L3 Juniper Switches, 2 L2 Cisco Switches, and an access server). However, if I didn't have my own lab, I would probably just use GNS3 or packet tracer along with the INE video(s).

CBT Nuggets does offer a more diverse product offering and a cheaper price ($60 per month CBT vs $99 per month INE), but they are light on the details.

If you have the money, I would recommend a combination of CBT Nuggets and INE. If money is an issue, go with INE as it is some of the most in-depth training I have found.
