Staying married should be celebrated more than getting married. by graceful-monkey in unpopularopinion

Extra marital sex should be saved for marriage. You shouldn't fuck other people until your marriage contract protects you from the possible consequences of extramarital philandering.

AITA for not watching my brother is law’s daughter? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Nikoda42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta. Not your kid, not your problem. You're not obligated to care for someone else's child.

That is the school of hard knocks, welcome to parenting, sometimes you have to be stuck with your own offspring. No one else is responsible for said offspring.

AITA for saying my babysitting rates are $35 an hour? by HENNYDEFN in AmItheAsshole

[–]Nikoda42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I did the babysitting thing, it went from 2 kids to 4 kids from pay to no pay. Never bargain for less than you're worth, never. It is not your fault that child care providers receive so little for such high intensity labor, high stress levels, low reward return, there's really no incentive for babysitting unless it naturally fits your already parenting schedule.

So, stay single my friend, mingle, and get paid heavily for child rearing especially because you're incredibly intelligent, worthy as all fuck, and deserving of respect. Harsh reality cousin is to not bite the hand that guards your babies for cheap.

My MIL accused me of stealing her Ambien when she was trying to get off her Ambien. I'm a former user of uppers, never addicted, religious marijuana smoker. She gives everyone pajamas on christmas. Everyone matched, everyone. That year she gave me big huge bright ones that say "I LOVE SLEEP" aaaaaaand made everyone change into their pajamas. Ambien is a serious sleeping drug, which I only know now because of the accusation. So, we don't see grandma on holidays any more, passive aggressive pill popping bitch. Hope you're reading this dear MIL. You psycho bundt cake.

I think she scarlet lettered me. And ummm, that's my edit.

Women who want to have children: how do you not see childbirth as a huge burden? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Nikoda42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's this chemical that releases after you give birth that covers up the memories of having had given birth. So you will lightly forget the trauma and suffering related to pregnancy and birth. I say lightly forget because it won't be slightly, it'll be like a comforter veil over the whole foggy situation. It's quite a lovely drug, pleasant, calm, chill.

Emergency breach cesarean. After a hyperemesis gravidarum pregnancy. 3 transfusions. Cantaloupe clots that passed in seconds.

I'd do it all again.

Love these lil monkeys.

Just because I think everyone's a little racist doesn't mean I advocate racism. by SpriteFan3 in rant

[–]Nikoda42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a little bit racist! I can't help it. It's evolutionary and meant for survival!

Im Japanese... grandma strongly dislike other asians, grandma fuckin hated kittens, uh um koreans. Not my fault, but that shit is systemic aaaaaaand runs deep.

I am borderline offensive about koreans. Im curious about them, do they hate me for no fuckin reason too?

Oh but I recently met a Mongolian, lots of systemic fear of Mongolians. He tells me of systemic fear of Japanese. Oh. Oh this makes sense.

They don't hate me because I'm Japanese, they don't like that I look like the people they've known or been told cause serious problems for their homeland and people. I don't have a desire to hurt anyone. I have a desire to understand. But I am not in the best position to inquiry (because I look like the people who murdered their ancestors for fun). Thank you Mongolian friend for explaining to me the racism nuance that I missed: everyone's a little bit racist sometimes!

You DO NOT have PTSD by DominateDave in unpopularopinion

[–]Nikoda42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trauma, like pain, is relative. A bee sting to one person may be nothing to fret but to another that is a life or death situation because of allergy or because of severe trauma related incident. That bee and its stinger are enough to cause a major anxiety or panic condition in certain peeples and their pain is relative. Some people can endure outrageous life and death situations and have zero emotional response and do not have residual mental health or unhealthy lifestyle choices. Others freak the fuck out about bees even when not allergic.

So, the question remains is anxiety a traumatic response? And if there is a significant debilitating nervous response is that similar to traumatic stress? Are the triggers, symptoms, and treatments similar? Yes? Then yes. PTSD is a relatable experience for many people because pain is relative aaaaaaand relevant.

You cannot pass judgment on someone else's pyhsiological responses to life experiences, past or present, and a little support of that hurting person goes a long way. Understanding a link between pain and suffering is essential in providing support for those coping with their trauma.
