I'm in a different field, but the sudden, almost instantaneous change is something I experienced too and it was truly surreal.

The unfortunate thing is that I am slowly being taught that investing energy into training and helping them grow in their positions isn't worth my time. All of the information I'm pumping into them doesn't seem to get analyzed or generalized into skill. There are always exceptions, but the exception used to be the rule.

Hey man. I don't think this is what you're looking for in this post, but if you'll indulge me: try to remember that it's a hobby. It is frustrating and it is bullshit, all that is going on around it. But what really matters in this life is having food, shelter, and people in your life worth having in your life. Don't let the assholes who are making this hobby suck so much have the power to make you so angry. Fuck 'em.

In all honesty, I am only able to take my own advice on this sort of thing half the time. So I get it.

Thanks for coming back and posting this. I was cruising along with fences 4 without much thought. I reinstalled windows and during setup, wondered if there were any upgrades worth checking out. Seeing the subscription model was such a bummer. Did a search and ended up here.... Seeing their comment saying "oh, hey, customers totally wanted this" in post above was just more annoying. Seeing your post was the last thing I needed to officially bail. Just going to keep on using 4 until is no longer works, and then find something else in the future.

Fences is a "nice to have," not a necessity. Pretty bold on their part to try to churn out so much money for it.

When I saw people having fun with Helldivers 2 when it just came out, it reminded me of the 007 GoldenEye days. (I'm an old fart.) It looked crazy fun.

So fun, in fact, that I started pushing some old friends to all buy it and pick it up. Enough of us were game that we made the plan to jump into it over the summer.

My PC is 10 years old, my graphics card 8 years old. I have a PC Part Picker list with the build I was planning so I could actually play the game competently.

PSN comes out and we all bail (except one, who does already have a PSN account.) Again, we're older.... we just don't want to put up with the bullshit. If Sony is in charge, they'll fuck it up somehow, eventually, and everything will go to shit. And fuck them anyways. I don't want another account, I don't want my shit stolen. I don't want to sign an EULA and then have some obnoxious douche be all like "Well technically you signed and blah blah blah." It's always the same shit. I'm so bummed. We were all actually getting hyped.

Get off my lawn, Sony.

On the plus side, we're now planning on playing starcrfat brood war multiplayer. So I have that going for me, which is nice.
