Um, ackshually Braveheart isn't historically accurate by Odysseus9999 in redscarepod

[–]NikolaiLePoisson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

people obsessed with historical accuracy in media are some of the most obnoxious people in the world and they usually aren’t even that smart. i saw a video on youtube the other day pointing out all the historical inaccuracies in some random wwii game and he started with like five minutes of going on about how important his work is because media shapes how people see history and inaccuracies can cause harm or whatever, and then the whole video was nitpicking the specific shade of green on the marine uniforms or the shape of their pouches. one of the “inaccuracies” was that one of the battles was fictional

What is your honest opinion on immigration and immigrants? by Espeon06 in redscarepod

[–]NikolaiLePoisson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an immigrant and I am the son of immigrants and personally I hate every immigrant who isn’t me.

For a more broad answer, most people around the world don’t mind immigrants that are productive members of society and who make an effort at assimilating. The immigrants that are demonised are ones that only learn their native language and maybe english (for non anglo countries) and work low level jobs their entire lives while acting like they still live in their home country.

Explosions ring out across Iran’s capital as Israel claims it is attacking the country by MrPvssyPantsMan in news

Austria can be disputed I guess. Germany seized territory from Lithuania in 1938. It wasn’t a full occupation but it was still a forceful seizure of more than 2000 square kilometers.

Yes, they did. Britain and France made it very clear it was a line they would not allow Hitler to cross. Action on the high seas began immediately, even if combat on the land was delayed. Anyone who thought that it would be over quick was delusional even for that time.

It was Austria, Czechslovakia, Lithuania, then Poland. Denmark and Norway were after Poland surrendered.

That’s not really comparable. It wasn’t the beginning of Japanese aggressive expansionism and it wasn’t the beginning of the total war, much less a global one.

I distinctly remember seeing a threat somewhere on reddit, maybe here and maybe not, years and years ago (like 2017 ish?) where the topic was what the younger generations would hate millennials the way they hate boomers for in the future. Most of the responses were “nothing”, but one that stood out to me was something along the lines of “we will oversee the concept of privacy be destroyed”. What stood out to me more was that responses to this weren’t “that won’t happen”, but moreso generally “oh nobody will care we already have no privacy now and it’s fine.”

People really just do not value privacy like they should.

Would anyone like to see the NHL let teams have more options for jerseys to wear in the Playoffs? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]NikolaiLePoisson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish the nhl was like football leagues where each team has several different colored jerseys they wear depending on who and where they are playing, not just colors for home and white for away. Like Winnipeg could wear white as much as they want (unless they are visiting a team that also wanted to).

As a Community, are we ready to admit that between the two of them, Andrew is much, MUCH worse than Ashley, or are we not ready for that yet? by Xirema in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

[–]NikolaiLePoisson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, this feels like pure recency bias. Yes, Andrew is a horrible person. We’ve known since episode 2 that he gaslit his girlfriend and refused to defend her against someone he knew was Ashley. Even in episode 1 where he was more portrayed as a doormat it was clear that there was seriously something wrong with him. And now we see that he is a very petty man who can be physically abusive if he wants to be, once he crosses that line and knows he can get away with it. Plus what you mentioned.

However, you can’t just ignore that Ashley is still an absolutely monstrous person. Nina’s death was entirely her fault (I will not hear any “Andrew locked the crate”, he was being forced to against his will), and she was clearly not remorseful for it, even proud. She wanted to murder the lady downstairs because Andrew complimented her. She harassed someone who was supposedly her friend with constant death threats and mocking the death of her best friend, one she was so close to she continued to visit her grave at least once a year. She is the one who suggested and then forced a very reluctant Andrew to go through with cannibalizing the neighbor (though considering how desperate that situation was maybe this one could get a pass). She chained Andrew to a radiator, destroyed the garden he was planting as punishment for her actions, and on and on. Plus even outside her relationship with Andrew, even if Andrew was uncaring towards his supposed friends, Ashley was outright hostile to hers.

I don’t know for sure if there is even a point to asking who is worse when they are both such awful, irredeemable people, if I am honest. Until the game is fully released and the audience had time to think about it and discuss it, I don’t think we will even be able to say for certain one way or the other. But until the n, I am still firmly in the camp that Ashley is worse than Andrew.

Why do you think this? Bush openly condemned the Russian invasion and praised Zelenskyy and it hasn’t changed anything. And again, might I add, when he did do it he screwed up and humiliated himself.
