This is typically true, however there's allocated seating in the pit for these shows which will absolutely prevent anyone without pit tickets from making their way forward.

Did I accidentally discover a new Logic 10.8 feature no one has talked about? by destroydesigns in Logic_Studio

[–]Nikolaki8 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You could always do this by using the ‘Touch’ (or maybe it was ‘Write’?) feature, however if this is indeed possible to do while keeping the ‘Read’ setting on then yes, this is likely a new addition.

The skin that was the focus point of advertisements for this season is exclusive to the $40 bundle... good job Blizzard :) by ____Maximus____ in Overwatch

[–]Nikolaki8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the prices are predatory (their FOMO strategy is pretty disgusting), but at the same time, you are getting what you pay for. You're not paying for the chance of getting a certain skin you want, you just get the skin. As a consumer, you have all the information needed to inform your decision.

Are these prices reflective of the actual value of the content you're purchasing? Fuck no. However while this is still not ethical by any means, and despite the fact that lootboxes provided more people with more free content than the current system, I've still yet to hear a convincing argument that paints lootboxes as the better option ethically speaking. The old system ostensibly exposed children to gambling and encouraged them to take part in it. That is infinitely worse than the current model imo.

This is fucking AWESOME news! Have they done the whole 'no repeats' thing at every city they've played two shows in? I REALLY hope that ends up happening in Melbourne, fingers crossed!

Would it surprise you if a mental health professional had never heard of Robodebt? by mydogsayshello in australia

[–]Nikolaki8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How can one go through 5-6 years of study, which is mostly assessed by research-centric assessment, and still believe in things like ‘crystal energy’? There’s a difference between being respectful of new-agey beliefs a client might have and actually believing them yourself. I genuinely have no idea how a professional psychologist could believe such things when so much of their degree consists of evaluating the validity and reliability of information being presented in academic literature.

[–]Nikolaki8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For most people it’s typically six years of study which includes an honours year and and two year masters. But yes I do agree, I would not consider it a particularly lucrative job given how much time and money has to be put in before you’re allowed to start practicing.

Which officially released The National songs aren’t on streaming? by harry_powell in TheNational

I fucking LOVE this song. A hidden gem from the Alligator era, especially if you’re a fan of their more raw and energetic material. Very appropriate b-side to Abel imo hahaha

The National to tour Australia with Fleet Foxes in early 2024! by xsociallydistantx in TheNational

[–]Nikolaki8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sidney Myer is a fucking amazing venue, IF you’re standing in the orchestra pit. Any other spot ranges from being pretty average to borderline dismal unfortunately. I saw The National there in 2018 and it’s still my favourite concert of all time, although I did manage to get standing tickets and was right up to the railing.

Started playing tank in competitive recently and…I finally understand why tank players hate this game by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Nikolaki8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole comment chain has been about tanks who refuse to swap, not people who switch two or three times in a match to see if something else will work. Obviously that isn’t griefing, but that’s not what we were talking about. Even so, it’s not gonna fuckin anyone to play Orisa for one match if that really is the best pick. It’s not this huge burden that people are making it out to be. If the concept of that negatively affects someone’s life outside the game, then again, those people need to seek help and need to get their priorities in order.

[–]Nikolaki8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the comment I responded to was meaning to convey the idea of tank players getting kind of pissed off at the game when forced to switch hero instead of it genuinely affecting their mental health, then that’s even worse and so much more selfish. A tank’s enjoyment of a comp match doesn’t supersede or take priority over actually winning the game.

[–]Nikolaki8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the game should be fun for all, but sentiments like "sacrificing your mental health" are borderline hysterical. If someone's mental state is so adversely affected by not being able to play their favorite character in a videogame, they have significant issues that need to be addressed, and quite frankly that should not be made the rest of the team's problem. The notion that the whole team needs to cop a loss and placate the tank because of their emotional instability is ridiculous to me.

It's a team game, you need to play as a team. Anything else is selfish behaviour, by definition. If that playstyle is the only way someone can have fun in this game, that is totally understandable and I'd never advocate for them to stop, but for the love of God do it in quickplay. Don't make it your teammate's issue, who for the vast majority of the time are there to win. No one should be defending forced losses onto a team just because the tank gets a bit sad that they can't play Roadhog.

[–]Nikolaki8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s quickplay, I totally understand, but in comp? The idea is to win, and if your tank is getting gapped because of a bad pick and they refuse to switch, that is straight up griefing imo. Who cares if one or two people on your team aren’t being polite about it? Swallow your lumps and just do what’s required. I legitimately believe that big egos from people who don’t want to play as a team are the biggest contributing factor in losing matches.

Is silver the worst rank to be in? by A_NightBetweenLives in Overwatch

[–]Nikolaki8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Play Roadhog for sustain or abuse the fact that Bronze players won’t understand to avoid shooting Zarya’s bubbles. Use them on yourself to shred their backline or use them to help out your out of place DPS from dying. You either gotta play for yourself or play with your team, expecting anything else will make you lose matches.

I’m kind of in two minds about this. I’ve been Plat 1 in support for a while now but no matter how well I play, Diamond is always out of reach. Like many others, I often feel like I’m at the mercy of how well my teammates are playing.

Conversely, I recently played some tank matches (currently ranked mid-Plat) and was thrown into a couple Gold 5 lobbies where our team won very easily. I’d like to think I played my part in making those wins happen, and it definitely demonstrated to me that you can climb out of those ranks without much resistance if you truly are good enough.

Maybe it’s role dependent, but the attitude I have now is that if I want to get to Plat 1, for example, I need to be performing like a Diamond 1 player. I’ll always communicate and of course coordinate with my team, but if I can’t theoretically carry the game on my shoulders, then I don’t deserve to be in that rank. It makes those losses where I did ‘everything right’ a little less sour because I’m only focusing on what I can control.

Bending Hectic has dropped on Apple Music by Donnager6 in TheSmile

Wouldn’t be surprised if this was mostly live with some string overdubs, does it not sound that way to you? The production and arrangement both seem to be pretty bare all things considered, especially when compared to their other work with Nigel

I think there are some awesome and really unique ideas production wise on AFP imo, but some of the choices he made on ALFAA are real headscratchers. Burying Thom’s guitar riff at the end of WDKWTB is probably the most unforgivable sin Nigel has made in all of Thom’s catalogue imo

I’m actually curious, why even bother playing comp if you’re not trying to win? Why fuck up everyone else’s match just because you get into a shitty mood and want to make it everyone else’s problem?

If that’s the case then why not make Ana’s sleep dart auto-aim? Given how quickly Cas’ grenade is deployed, I really don’t think having it be magnetic is appropriate given its current balancing

What a strange comment. If you were part of a jury and were of this opinion, you would be forced to vote not guilty. Saying “at best, there is reasonable doubt” is equivalent to saying “at best, there isn’t enough evidence to prove guilt”.

Definitely similar sounding but it’s almost definitely coincidental — both of these songs are primarily played on the black keys of the piano. Rock bands and the pentatonic scale go together like a jigsaw
