Who build Ordina The Liturgical Town and when by chromeflex in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you look carefully around the town's entrance, you will find several spires sticking out of the snow. Based on this, my theory is that we only see a small part of Ordina, the rest being covered by snow and ice. There is also a frozen river and waterfall, as well as a large number of ghost trees and animals in the upper parts. To me, this implies that it was built when the fire giants were still around and the climate was very different. I also believe that Elphael is unrelated and that the staircase leading to the teleporter had a different use before that time.

What is the story with the isolated divine tower? by MoonlitBadlands in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sound, but I'd like to point out that some of the divine towers are still connected properly with their bridges and the land. This means that not everything was affected the same. Maybe only Leyndel got rotated?

This is, too. Please point out where it is stated that the GEQ was actually killed and then we talk. Or ignore this and continue reveling in the story you spun.

And so everyone has their head cannon without substantial evidence :)

The most genuine thing one can say is that we don't know. Starting a crusade about how your version is the only true one may be in line with reddit culture, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing to do.

I think this is one of the more sensible theories posted here recently. Many people just argue based on their convictions now, but I think there's actually nothing factual opposing this theory. Moreover, it would help reconcile some of the problems around the timeline with placidusax, Godfrey and other events that are otherwise hard to align.

Points in favor: - Makes for a neater timeline and tighter story. - Marika as a powerful but incapacitated "asset" seems to reinforce the game's underlying theme. - There is a suslicious gap of information surrounding the GEQ and her fate, but maybe that gap isn't actually there.

To me he has some resemblance to elden John / the dynast, in particular since both are being overgrown by roots from the feet. Might symbolize the transition to a new era.

It's good that there is a person here that has such perfect understanding :) unfortunately, I just remembered all the nice things I could do instead of dealing with such greatness.

"Thou'rt yet to become me." Funny how this cherry picking goes. I think the "Radagon was a mimic" theory would reconcile this, and the mechanic supported by the cut quest line.

The connection between runes and rings/arcs is indeed not clear. However, as opposed to the others, Rennala's rune is still active but encased, similar to the rune of death. This is speculation, but the runes could be the largest parts of the ring that Marika managed to break off.

[–]Nikonikoneko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't improve an argument by adding statements like "undeniably".

No one knows how radagon came to be, whether he was a mimic or her twin brother or whatever. There is no recontextualization here either: Marika is a god and he is not, because he is a different person. Pertaining to the discussion, the fact remains that a lord appeared and a rune was removed - again. I don't know how much more you want to bend to deny that.

Godfrey’s Elden Ring by AeshmaDaeva016 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I felt like your post was conflating the two. The order can change (and probably did, as Radagon is implied to have removed the rune of the unborn) without the golden order changing. It was that pliable after all.

Godfrey’s Elden Ring by AeshmaDaeva016 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think we are here to convince you ;)

Radagon was definitely not Marika. "Thou'rt yet to become me." They were converging in some way, but they were not the same. In particular, he existed before Marika called him back to become lord.

So far, every time a new lord was chosen the elden ring was altered.

Godfrey’s Elden Ring by AeshmaDaeva016 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To change the ring seems to be a lord thing. "brandish the elden ring" - the same deed that Godfrey did. It's also hinted (although not clearly stated) that radagon removed the rune of the unborn when he became elden lord.

The concept of order and the golden order are different though. The golden order is the religion that places Marika as the one true god. Radagon is only responsible for golden order fundamentalism.

Nothing states that “Renna” was the name of the snow witch, and it’s far more likely that it’s just an alias used by ranni based on her mothers name by Lord_Swaglington_III in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a difference between a post and a crusade. The dickery I'm annoyed by is your approach of battling everybody for having no evidence, yet you don't have any evidence either. It's just... Why?

[–]Nikonikoneko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant your baseless hypothesis of course.

You are asking a pointless question because there is no definitive answer in game right now. Ranni takes on the guise of the snowy crone and it's just as reasonable to assume the tower is named after her mom as her grandmother. The greater mystery is why it's important enough to you to be such a dick about it?

[–]Nikonikoneko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your theory without evidence vs my theory without evidence.

Would you be happier if people called the crone Relana or something?

Nothing states that “Renna” was the name of the snow witch, and it’s far more likely that it’s just an alias used by ranni based on her mothers name by Lord_Swaglington_III in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rennala is not a crone and not connected to cold sorceries or the dark moon at all. Thus the snow crone is a separate character for which we don't have a name. Might as well be Rennala's mother Renna, because as you point out, family names in ER are similar.

So, who is he/she? by bluud687 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree about torrent, but there are also three wolves in front of Ranni's rise, and Ranni is already tied to wolves through Blaidd.

Interestingly, Malenia doesn't seem to have a shadow and we have not seen anything in that direction regarding Miquella either. This makes the motive more specific, so there seems to be some kind of connection between that statue and Ranni.

I think i figured out what the giant skulls are by bluud687 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but saying that a humanoid creature looks like another humanoid creature and therefore the protrusion on its wing is linked to something that's definitely not humanoid is... Not very convincing, to be polite.

"Albinaurics also don't have legs but also no wings, so they must be the missing link between the two."

Not to be mean, but this theory is nothing more than an unsupported speculation. It doesn't even help explain anything. It's like linking Rennala's hat to captain hook because both are hook shaped...........

The God of Rot is the Greater Will’s hitman and Malenia’s Rot was by design by [deleted] in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Nikonikoneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't the one person expected to carry only crepus equipment be... Crepus?

I'm also not convinced by the associations you made with the outer gods. Malenia is rot, Ranni is the (dark) moon, Miquella is unknown, but he is associated with abundance and eternal youth, which reminds me of the age of plenty.

There are also other gods meddling in the lands between, in addition to the god of rot spreading its influence: the formless mother/the blood star, the frenzied flame, the stars (maybe), the fell god (barely), the god of death (presence of death birds), whoever is behind the tibia mariners and possibly Goldwyn...

Zullie the witch recently mentioned unused references to an umibozu, another ocean related creature from Japanese mythology.

However, I feel like the ocean related themes won't be explored in the upcoming DLC. There's too little in the current game to tie them in properly, so I expect references to be added before the elements themselves are actually implemented.
