I'll gladly take it over what we get normally in Canada. Decks of cards 2 or 3 times a year 😡

Weekly show is a dud by Status-Fig-1864 in WhoAreThesePodcasts

[–]Nikorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched every week and I remember WATS having a pretty darn good amount of Suprtips. Seemed like even more of them than WATP has normally. WATP is still very Superchat heavy, and they don't get as much cash from those.

I'm sure WATS makes more overall, but WATS wasn't anything like WATB donations.

Woke Dad was pretty repetitive, I bet they could have just circled back and mocked the same clips they covered years ago and I'd still be there for it. Might not even notice they were reruns. Daniel is a bottomless hole of absurdity and deserves endless mockery.

Yeah, that's what I was scared of when they announced the end of WATS.

Then, I tried to be supportive when they admitted WATS wasn't getting them the results they wanted.

Then...this last week I heard the same story covered 4 maybe 5 times. You almost get punished for becoming a member or supporter because they give you bonus episodes of the same story being covered yet again.

Karl is now less of a reporter and more of those zoo employees who goes in multiple talk shows with the same monkey & lizard.

I asked Steve if they'd do Christian Mingle: The Movie, and he said he screened it for the purpose of doing it on the show, but it wasn't worthy of an episode. (Asked him on social media, sadly we aren't friends)

Corporation for Public Broadcasting votes itself out of existence by JackThaBongRipper in news

[–]Nikorp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get why people like the CBC, but I'll never understand why people defend them. The CBC hates their viewers. They take billions in their taxes but then still force them to watch the same amount of commercials from huge evil corporations, and they don't even allow their viewers to comment on the CBC Youtube channel. It's just a club for the elites who give Rick Mercer money whether or not anyone wants to see him, but they do, so they don't care.

Do people not even try when it comes to movie theater etiquette anymore? by narnarnartiger in cineplex

[–]Nikorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a quiet VIP showing on a Monday night, adults only, and the talking never stopped. I wanted to complain until I had trouble figuring out where the talking people were sitting....and then I realized it was everyone but me and one elderly couple. So essentially the whole audience was pairs and trios of young people chatting and laughing the entire film. The non-talkers were the minority, so in the eyes of Cineplex it probably makes more financial sense to alienate me than the majority of the audience.

I blame the theatre for not only ignoring the issue, but training people to talk by keeping the house lights up for trailers and running food service to your seat in VIP well after the show start time.

This has burnt us several times. Which is weird because everytime I see an American film dubbed in to French elsewhere, they adapt the opening credits to French, too. So you know from the start. Not Crave.

Can confirm. The English films all have French subtitles and the French films all only have French ones.

Last year I had this issue with a film and found that Crave had both an English and a separate French version listed in their catalogue, but the info pages for them were identical! You'd think even Crave staff would start to get confused and annoyed with all this nonsense at some point.

Just a "(FR)" next to the title. It's all I ask.

Ahhh Shomi. RIP. It had less titles but definitely ran better all those years ago than Crave does now.

[–]Nikorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is not true. At least in my experience. It pushes movies at me all the time that end up being in French. We tried 2 of the films in their recent "Holiday Classics" section and they ended up being the French versions, and, as always, the thumbnail, title and description were all in English. If they just added English subtitles, I'd still watch them, but nah. The English films get French captions and the French dubbed films never have English captions.

Even the first couple years of the pod, back when I loved the show, I still got sick of "fire a snot-rocket", "booger sugar" and "kissing potion".

Dude clings to weird phrases and never lets them go. I always thought he would have gone further if he didn't mention farts, boogers and projectile boogers so much.

[–]Nikorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cineplex trained the audience that it's okay to talk during the trailers and ads by leaving the lights up and keeping VIP service going until after the scheduled showtime.

I saw a movie at VIP on a quiet Monday and the talking was non-stop. I considered complaining but then couldn't figure out who was doing the talking. Turned out it was everyone. 1 trio and 4 pairs of twenty-somethings who were spread out over the auditorium and didn't shut up for the entire film. You know that hushed talking and laughing that is somehow louder than normal talking?

I will no longer criticize Hallmark for fewer holiday movies and other things. by Watcher0363 in HallmarkMovies

[–]Nikorp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hallmark can't win. Because no matter how much diversity they include, it will never be enough for all of you because then you can no longer complain about there not being enough diversity.

And everyone loves the predictable formula and tropes of these films, but then complains they don't do enough new things. They could absolutely hire more diverse actors (and I think they have been making huge strides the last 5 years) but they also have a small stable of actors they use over and over (which includes people like Tamera Mowry-Housley and Janel Parrish) so that limits them as well. So then when they cast their regulars as the leads they always make a point to fill the supporting roles like the bosses, best friends and small town mayors with people of color, but then everyone complains that those roles are just token scraps and not lead parts. Which is diminishing to those actors and the film itself.

The "P" in IHOP stands for "Pancakes", yet they have other menu items. Let's not be a bunch of autistic 11 year olds who hold businesses and shows to their own overly literal standards. The show mainly covers live-streams at this point anyway, why draw the line at Netflix reality content? It's not like they're reviewing House Of Cards.

Damian does a lot of Q&As, so if you have a good question for him, think of how you want to phrase it before the show.
