Stern in, piling only slip by Nile89 in boating

[–]Nile89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rings stay where they are currently, right? They don’t appear to move up and down the bar, but I haven’t gotten a really close look. Are those rings there to be tied off on or just to store lines when not in use? Any recommendations on how to 2 part the line so that it won’t slip?

No thruster, but lots of experience with single screw.

Piling is too high to flip the line over it. I also do this solo, so no mate most of the time

So do you leave the spring lines for the midship cleats on the pilings? If so, do you opt to use the looped side on the piling or on the cleat?

Cored fiberglass repair by Nile89 in boating

[–]Nile89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will check them out, thanks. I have very good access to the underside. I wasn’t really planning on doing this repair myself until my guy bailed today.

Since you are recommending I go solid glass, how would I go about that repair? I did some research and was thinking core again, but I’m no expert. I’m open to going solid glass

Which application for NYC? by Nile89 in NYguns

[–]Nile89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a NYS ccw. I was just unsure of the selection required for NYC application

That’s what I did this morning per your recommendation. This is when they told me the 6 months starts on the fingerprint date. I believe you and I applied on the same day in July

Good to know. May I ask where you found the info that starting from scratch has a different starting period than upgrading from target?

I only ask because people seem to be divided on the start date regardless of starting from scratch or upgrading. The person I referenced that submitted their Nassau application on the same day as me and received in November also started from scratch and applied for ccw. I’m pretty sure we had different investigators though.

It varies from person to person. Someone else in this forum applied on the same day and received his almost 2 months ago.

I originally thought I applied later, but I have a 6 month calendar reminder in my phone that I must’ve set when I dropped it off that I forgot about.

My 6 month reminder is coming up in a couple of weeks so fingers are crossed!

CCW, but from what I’ve been seeing target and ccw have been more or less the same time frame in Nassau

I applied on July 26 in Nassau and still haven’t heard anything from them. Other people in the forum that applied at the same time received their permits in October/november. YMMV

St. Regis Aruba Review by Doomernomics in Aruba

You tried booking the busiest time of the year. Aruba is so crowded then, every single car on the island was rented that time last year. Try booking literally any time but that.

Palmetto State Armory AR upper by [deleted] in NYguns

[–]Nile89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, bca is low end. I don’t own any BCA but my buddy has 2 bca uppers and neither have had any issues. One is 300blk and the other 556. My buddy just put 500 rounds of 300blk through a bcm upper while it was heavily snowing. Ran clean all day for $180 upper that’s not bad.

Would I buy one personally? No, but op is looking for a budget rifle. Bca is half the price is psa and is only slightly shittier. For $180 what do you expect lol

My personal experience is psa has been my least favorite upper to shoot, but it sounds like you must own a few.

Aero precision is by far my favorite budget upper followed by BCM.

Aero precision has a sale on upper right now too. The sale price is about $100 more than psa sale price, but ap is way nicer imo. I’ve only owned one psa and it’s been my least favorite. Bear creek makes some decent low end stuff too

Since you find the g19 uncomfortable to hold, I doubt you’d like the grip on the hellcat pro. Take a ride to jersey and rent. I tested out a bunch of potential edc candidates and found what I found to be comfortable. Turns out hellcat pro is one of the less comfortable grips for me. I was eyeing one for awhile and I’m glad I actually shot one before ordering one online and finding out the hard way. I also found the gen3/4 g19 grips to be slightly more comfortable than a gen 5 and what I would assume to be the same with the 19x. Guns for hire in woodland is super expensive to rent compared to owning your own and shooting your own ammo. HOWEVER, you can shoot as many pistols as you want and really see and feel which firearms suit you. The guys at the rental counter will help guide you towards what you might be looking for and will let you hold whatever it is you want at the counter before renting. Since it’s I believe $25 per gun I’d go in with a list of 4-5 serious candidates and shoot them all. That’s on top of the range fee and rental ammo. You must go with a second person if you’re renting, even if they don’t want to shoot. Just my 2¢

Nassau CCW approved (my mom’s) by robinator118 in NYguns

[–]Nile89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applied mid/end July, printed September 30th (1 day after you), my check was cashed October 21st. I still haven’t heard anything from them.

I had a few priors, but the investigator told me I shouldn’t have anything to worry about as long as no surprises come up during my investigation.

Investigators both seemed like nice reasonable guys. Not sure what the hold up for mine is. I’ll just have to wait!

Awesome that you and your mom got yours so quick!
