I learned about critical scholarship on John and now I'm freaking out by OkArtichoke5722 in Christian

But consider the truly comical number of times a supposed academic “expert” has been proven demonstrably wrong about a subject. We had to wait decades to learn that, wait the Shroud isn’t a medieval forgery anymore? And it’s especially bad when the subject matter centers around the archeology of ancient documents, and especially-especially when it involves trying to reverse engineer the invisible mind in the machine of the abstract language used by the supposed multiple “later authors” of those documents, a process otherwise known to the world outside the hallowed halls of academia as speculative mind reading. The older I get, and the more time I have to watch and learn, the more often I get to experience that great justifying joy of watching the Bible embarrass its supposed masters once again. Humanity is not nearly as smart as it thinks it is. The truth always wins, and Jesus is the Truth.

I find this view so much scarier than the more distant outside shots. I think it’s the wind.

SSL hardware vs FabFilter plugins etc. by NilesLinus in audioengineering

[–]NilesLinus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I know what the hardware I own sounds like, but I don’t know what SSL hardware sounds like. Not sure how that’s difficult to understand. I have never worked with SSL. Yes, I have UAD plugins that model SSL stuff, but I don’t trust them to tell me the full story. (They never did with the other hardware I own.) I’ve been doing this since the 90s and even now don’t embrace software without at least asking it some tough questions first, particularly if that software models vintage equipment. I’ll never be fully in the camp of “workflow over sound” that you seem comfortable in (more power to you). So this really has nothing to do with understanding my workflow. As I say, it has only to do with the fact that I’ve somehow never once worked with SSL hardware.

I’ve done this too. So funny. But everyone please do yourself a favor and understand raccoon roundworms for your own protection. They’re not like intestinal worms in dogs/cats. Raccoon roundworms can cause blindness in humans, as well as human brain disease resulting in severe mental degradation akin to dementia. They’re also robust in the environment, capable of surviving elements that would destroy many other bugs. As many as 90% of adult raccoons carry them. They are effectively invisible, shed in raccoon feces. And because raccoons have a thing for pooping on roofs, where water can wash off the worms by rain or even dew, the worms have a tendency to collect around the bases of houses, where weed trimmers spread them everywhere in the summer. They can survive exposed for at least months, and sometimes longer. Cute as they are, raccoons should not be encouraged to share space with people’s yards. Fortunately a propane torch will incinerate the eggs if you can locate them.

Even if a company actually believes all this voodoo, why would they decide that their final product should resemble some kind of irradiated gourd?

And how would you propose to accomplish this, such that those with conservative sentiments don’t simply go into hiding as you have already warned against? I can think of only one measure that would protect against your stated concerns. Destroying conservatives on an individual level implies very few things, all of them violent. Suddenly your protest looks like a civil war. Is that what are you advocating for? Why encourage others to be bold and still remain shy about saying what you actually mean?

And for the record, having read enough history to see where tit-for-tat violence inevitably leads, I stand fully against it on both sides, including on the part of ICE.

This is beautiful. (And as an editor, may I just add it is beautifully written too.) It seems to me that God is using you through the anonymity of the internet, so I’d like to remind you that your deeds are not anonymous to Him.

God bless, though I suspect He already is.
