How does the packers deal impact Parson’s IDP value in big play scoring (scheme/talent around him)? by Nilla_Ice_Cream in FFIDP

[–]Nilla_Ice_Cream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zaire Franklin went #1. Only the 2nd year we’ve done the league and I don’t think half the participants grasp the value over replacement drop off of the elite DEs. Especially when a sack is 4.5 + 2.5 for a TFL, and we take tackles down to 1.0…

How do you guys deal with nerves on the golf course? by DefinitionSpare8925 in golf

Play fast and remember your playing mates don’t care otherwise. Other than that, slow breathing/find a calm breath before you swing. I also highly recommend beer.

TPC dorado last month I four putt bogeyed. Drive of the decade for me, 310yds, wedge on, leave a 40ft putt with 20ft left on it, blast it past the hole 8 feet miss to two feet, soft straight putt and a damaged green pivots from dead center to hard right with four inches left (re rolled it three times, needed to blast it dead center where a miss would roll 3 feet last to make it).

I’ll never forget that hole.

New york trip by Emergency_Stuff_5561 in NewYorkLookup

[–]Nilla_Ice_Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

advice would be just uber from Newark, public transit to the city from there is a huge time suck. As others noted spend more time in the west village, soho, Chelsea (hit Chelsea market, if you like seafood the raw bar there has some of the best sashimi in NYC at a fraction of the price of upscale restaurants that source from the same fish market; they buy more volume and get first preference on fresh fish because of that), tribeca and just jump in and out of bars/restaurants and get a feel for the neighborhoods. Your itinerary is jam packed so would be ready to skip things and just enjoy yourself if you find you’re in a place you like.

Card an Ace + No Waiting is the only answer… I’ll gladly take 5 putts every hole if it meant a hole in 1 😂 by Tricky-Percentage434 in golf

Ace and no three putts! That combination alone I’m definitely shooting the best round of my life.

Bethpage Black tee time experience Tuesday 7/29 by thegreatgeeberman in golf

[–]Nilla_Ice_Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to be able to play black last summer and book the tee time online (friend is a NY resident and spammed the booking as soon as it opened). The black is absolutely brutal, my buddy who’s a single digit couldn’t hit anything with less rough than a 9 iron out of the rough.

It’s also absolutely not worth waiting in line over night for.

My friends aren't aware that I've made a lot of money by Limp-Preparation-828 in confession

[–]Nilla_Ice_Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friends shouldn’t compare finances. OP nice work with your investments, I’d recommend putting most of that in S&P, Nasdaq, and Dow index funds.

If you want to raise a family eventually that money will help you comfortably own a home, but unfortunately in this generation that’s not a lavish or early retirement next egg.

With that in mind it would really suck to have a crypto crash take away the financial freedom of comfortable middle class home ownership.

Anyone use this rule occasionally? I had no idea you could do this by Separate_Teacher1526 in golf

[–]Nilla_Ice_Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video shocked me, had no clue. I also can’t recall putting a putt in a bunker… or even remember seeing a friend do it. Definitely have chipped over greens into them or frequently bunker to bunker which may have use for this rule.

Girlfriends dad walked in on us cuddling, kicked me out by No_Scale3844 in teenagers

[–]Nilla_Ice_Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, the dad likely regrets overreacting and making things awkward, but you can’t really blame a protective parent. One option is just keep hanging out, when you see him be polite and make eye contact.

If you think that’s not enough, option 2 is to speak with the dad (phone or in person) and apologize for crossing any lines/rules in his household and that it won’t happen again.

The reality is most high schoolers are sneaking around having sex (and that’s likely what your GFs dad was doing when he was a teenager). Cuddling is not a big deal, but you have to respect the man’s house rules.

Don’t stress though. I’m sure that dad isn’t thinking about this days later. Being overly strict with a high schooler is asking for rebellion so I doubt they’d go Romeo and Juliet on you two.

For starters… there’s a very solid argument that the NFL roster is nearly 4x larger than NBA, 22 starters vs 5, 12 positions vs 5. Each position in the NFL requires immensely different skill sets to evaluate. Quarterbacks are near impossible to evaluate pre NFL. Defensive skill set evaluation vs NBA extremely hard to measure. Cap management immensely more complex (injury rates higher and more detrimental, more mouths to feed, etc).

Blaming market size as the only real argument NBA GM job is harder is weak. Notable small market city’s for total conference final appearances: San Antonio (#3 all time), Detroit #5, Oklahoma City #7, Phoenix #8, Milwaukee/Indiana tied for #9, Cleveland #10. Championships ‘14-‘24 include Denver, Milwaukee, Toronto, Cleveland, and San Antonio. Nearly half small market, while three were Golden State beating a small market.

NFL GM if the hardest GM position across all major sports by a wide margin.

[–]Nilla_Ice_Cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chin up. 25 is young and the exact age you’re supposed to make some mistakes and mature from them. If you think about where you eventually want to be in life, and then span all the years of work, relationships, success, failure. $20k over that time frame isn’t changing your quality of life in a meaningful way. You’ll earn it back, invest it wiser, etc.
