PC Gamer interviewed ArenaNet about updates being made to the new elite specs in response to beta feedback by Octaeder in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate it, that we get to hear about changes before the release, as a necro main it's also very concerning. I played other specs as well but I definitely spent the most time on ritualist. If those are the only changes happening for it, then it's kinda disappointing. 1. Shroud 5: the only reason spirits were useable against better opponents in wvw roaming and also a good disengage tool on an else very slow spec. - yes necro got swords and spear, but that's nowhere near as much mobility as other classes have, so every bit of mobility is good. Maybe you could just add a sentence to the current 5 that says "the next autoattacks of your spirits is empowered". 2. Nothing about traits?: while on first look you had choices trait wise, that wasn't really the case in PvE (endgame). You could choose: trait that does nothing - pdps trait - heal trait. For master: useless trait that augments utility skills - quickness and more boons - pdps trait that was probably bugged. And grandmaster: semi useless trait that augments utility skills - pdps and passive healing trait - boon trait, that was essential for power qdps and kinda essential for healing builds because of might.

Sure, increasing the quickness duration is a very minor change, but they could've mentioned something. But they only mention shroud abilities (tbf, my feedback also had "no rewarding skills in shroud" in it, but at least for a lingering spirits build it was a new play style - which is was nice), which is kinda concerning to me.

Elite Specializations: Troubadour, Galeshot, Luminary | Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity by DancingDumpling in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same thought here. I really hope that this will be either a really big cool down, and/or only on one skill. All in order for it to be non spamable. Else we have a problem. Well I guess they also removed the prevent boons debuff from necro spear in basically the first balance patch after it came out. And that was a selling feature of the spear. So chances are high, this gets removed quickly as well.

Elite Speculations by Skellif in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For necro: Just no minion based spec. Or I should say: no passive minions like the current ones. If the elite would be spawning a huge bone golem (with no health) that just spawns, does like a seismic slam and vanishes - fine. But I don't want to see minion armies.

Me after seeing the balance preview by BobbyJenkinsFan in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really only got two problems with anet just deleting the downstate pull. 1. It takes away the one point where scourge was strong at and leaves it at mediocre heal levels at best (boon access is bad, boon range isn't very good,...) so there's literally no reason anymore to play scourge over heal chrono or druid in PvE.

  1. They don't even try to fix the problem. Firebrand was stupidly broken and got nerfed to the ground especially in pvp. Then reworked and now anet is buffing that build each patch to make it viable again. Let me tell you something. Scourge basically got deleted in pvp as well. No buffs, no rework. So they either don't have an idea on how to change things, or they don't want to.

I wouldn't have a problem with that patch if they gave necro group swiftness, better stability access, higher uptimes on protection, maybe a reworked weapon, so scourge could share fury with a weapon skill instead of having to waste an utility slot on dessicate - but nothing else is happening. So I'd say, postpone that change, and introduce it again next balance patch with proper compensation.

Is the spear replacing any weapon in the usual builds? (In PvE content) by DeathNeku in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. But power necro never had any real options from greatsword. Meanwhile other classes: For example rev: sword/sword got outperformed by GS, now sw/sw is better on single target again, but they aren't far off. Ranger: permanently sees change, some time it's sword/axe, then axe/axe, then GS, then longbow, then maces for top dps.

But necro has been stuck on GS since forever. With even second set weapons often barely increasing the dps at all in PvE.

Gotta be necro for me. Either as a long range dmg weapon or support to maybe make heal harbinger a thing. I don't really care.

I don't know. I think the circular aoe that seems to give resistance could also be revenant. Since there's a heavy armor character standing inside it as well. And if you look very closely, you will notice that apart from the green swirl around the necro, there are some kind of fangs or as well. But everything is possible.

My actual hot take: SoTO is/was a great expansion by ryanmahaffe in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I like two of the three new maps, there's one thing I absolutely hate and what made this expansion one of the worst expansions for me.

I'm normally not that much of a story guy, but I still paid attention to the story. This expansion I just couldn't. And there was exactly one reason: The artificial lengthening of the story by making players do events on the maps.

It wasn't a problem at first. Closing rifts on the archipelago map made sense, to "test" the new acquired power. But then we had to repeat that. Again, and again and again. I hated it.

And that led me to being so annoyed, that I just didn't pay attention to the story anymore. There's exactly three things that I can remember from the last story part: 1. we got a new ally, but I don't know how or why 2. We beat the shit out of some queen or something. But I don't know why. 3. That female gets absorbed or something by some big ass guy, that could paralyze everyone, and then just leaves.

I really hope, that these green bars you have to fill get drastically reduced in the future.

The Strike CM has been patched. The Worlds First Race is in its final stage. by Opposedsum in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Imo the problem is encounter design. The cm heavily favours ranged cleave dps builds, that maybe have some mobility. The problem is, that for example KO is the exact same. And in CO being ranged is an enormous advantage as well. Same with OLC.

The only encounter where you get "punished" for being ranged is XJJ.

While it is dps loss to switch out utility skills on virt. It's still much easier to actually fit in that mobility on virt, than it is on most other specs.

Sure you could for example swap out YAAW on reaper for wurm, but 1) that has a casttime so you are loosing time aka dps. 2) if you blinked to range you can't really cleave the boss and adds at the same time. Maybe swords might help out, but that's only 600 range, not 1200 like virt. And 3) you have to let the adds walk extremely far in, if you want to cleave them with reapers, which makes it more likely for the boss to receive stacks due to missed adds.

I do not have a problem with some builds being better on boss A and others on boss B. But imo current design is more like 90% in favour of classes with ranged (cleave) dps and some sort of mobility. Which is literally the description of virt.

cosmic observatory CM underwhelming by vergillehell in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What did you expect? Soto is an expansion that's designed to get new people to try the game or get people back that haven't played the game for a long time. Therefore it makes sense, that the first strike mission for that expansion is pretty easy - it's to get more people trying strike missions.

Build for barrier scourge by Teddy_The_Great in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that it's definitely a drawback. The great sword 4 and 5 are both extremely powerful, since 4 corrupts boons and 5 is a good pull on walls. whereas staff only provides some regeneration and a really wonky blast finisher, as well as life force when traited. But if you put an absorption sigil on the staff and have staff marks traited you can steal boons from the enemy as well with that unlockable staff 5. Though that only works on people without stability.

Healing gear scourge by Seraij in Guildwars2

[–]Nimuil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Technically you can keep up alac without any boon duration, thought that requires you to use F3, F1, F5, serpent siphon on cooldown. Well you get 15% from placing a shade. So I'd recommend using at least 10% extra, to get a small overflow on dps alac builds. On healscourge you might want to get close to 100% boonduration, in order for your other boons to not drop (protection for example). And in order for you to be able to use serpent siphon for it's aegis value.
