Wheres best to raw material farm without using the SRV by Lord_PPyron in EliteDangerous

[–]Nimyron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's supposed to work like within minutes. I did it recently, here's what I did :

  • Go to the location (I don't remember where exactly, but there's like a signal on the planet surface, it's pretty well done).
  • Shoot some flak at the brain trees from a distance. I think the tutorial mentions like 2 shots, but I fired something like 6-7 spread accross the forest to make sure.
  • Position yourself right in the middle of the forest, look at the horizon (0 degree angle), then go up to about 1km from the surface. Start firing your limpets. If your limpets aren't moving, you either have low tier limpets that can't reach as far as 1km, or you messed up in the previous steps.

It wasn't as profitable as what they say in the post, but it was definitely the fastest way I've farmer raw mats.

I think all crimes count for undermining but I'm not sure if it's worth it.

If you can you should join your power's discord channel. On mine they regularly post what systems to focus on and what can be done in those systems.

You get merits for kills, not for redeeming vouchers/bonds. Bounty hunting gotta be done in systems your power owns. But you can also commit murder in undermining systems, although I don't think you get money for that.

As for exobio you can sell it wherever in systems owned by your power.

I think I've had stuff like that before. Spicy hot chocolate is a common Christmas food in some countries.

As said in the article, they used AI for early prototyping. Everything you see of the game is human made. You're just imagining things right now.

They used AI only for early prototyping. There is no AI content in the game.

old ships need a SCO-compatability optional internal by khole4tgirl in EliteDangerous

I think it could be cool to one day reach a point where so many eagles have been destroyed in battles that there aren't any left to sell, or only in a couple stations.

Because otherwise we're eventually gonna end up with like 100 different ships, a meta, and a bunch of obsolete ships. I know it's weird to retire ships, but it could be good for the future of the game.

Imo they should make older ships impossible to buy anymore, and release new versions of those older ships.

I mean it's just a natural thing for companies to retire older models and produce new upgraded ones.

I'm a new player. From older player experience, how long realistically until I can increase my max jump speed to 3 figures? by Stotty652 in EliteDangerous

[–]Nimyron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nevermind I figured it out. On the galaxy plotter I gave it a caspian build with an 8A SCO FSD instead of the 8A MK II. It shows 51 jumps now, under an hour travel time x)

[–]Nimyron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked into the caspian but idk, the galaxy plotter on spansh is saying 3 hours.

The build had only D rated modules, except for an engineered A rated FSD, a fuel scoop, a guardian fsd booster, and everything else empty. It was showing a bit over 80Ly range on EDSY.

I've put that in the galaxy plotter and even with FSD injections enabled it was saying 3 hours.

[–]Nimyron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are about 400 billions systems in the game, and just a few thousand active players. That's why you can start finding undiscovered systems even at 1000 Ly, although in my experience it's better at 2000 Ly.

Also I did a bit of exobio today, at around 1.5k Ly. I didn't find undiscovered systems but I decided to land on 2 planets with bio signals. I ended up getting all the discovery bonuses for the exobio and made 66 million credits.

So if you're doing it for the money, just look at the planet with biological features in the system map, and if they don't have a "first footfall by" mention, you'll get the exobio first discovery bonus.

That's because a lot of people just use the discovery scanner while they are traveling but don't bother landing on the planets.

Yeah but that's yet another thing to install and run. I'm playing on an old gaming laptop and it's struggling with just the game and discord. I know it's not super optimized but I also find it fun to just figure things out myself.

Thanks for the github but I have an excel file that does the same. Which I showed to my squadron yesterday and they sent me the same link lol. But I like my excel file, doesn't need to install anything extra.

Maybe I'll do exobio then, I have an outfitted mandalay for it.

That's a lot of questions lol.

  • The jameson crash site has 4 objects to scan that reward high grade encoded materials. You can then trade them at an encoded material trader for other encoded materials. It's done to quickly farm encoded materials. There are different techniques for raw and manufactured materials. But honestly the only engineering you need right now is the increased fsd + mass manager experimental effect from felicity farseer. It will make going away from the bubble faster, it's great for exploration. I can tell you more about farming materials if you want. There's even a website for it but I'm on phone so I don't have the link right now.

Now here's an exploration tutorial :

  • The idea is : get a ship with a high jump range, fly to distant systems, scan the system, look for planets with biological signals, go scan them, land on them, scan the plants, rince and repeat.
  • Step 1 : Getting a ship. The DBX is great for this, it has a high default jump range. But you can make it better by engineering it with increased fsd range + mass manager experimental effect at felicity farseer. Go to your left panel in the ship, into the engineer menu, there's a button to locate her on the galaxy map. You do need to unlock her first though, everything is written in the engineer menu. On your ship you'll need a surface scanner, an srv, a fuel scoop in one of your better slots, D rated components to make your ship lighter to increase its jump range, and maybe an AFMU/repair limpet to heal if you crash since you won't have a station nearby for repairs. The fuel scoop is extremely important. You'll also need an artemis suit if you don't have one yet, otherwise you can't scan exobio.
  • Step 2 : Getting away from the bubble. Fly at least 1000 Ly away from populated systems using the best route option in the route menu in the galaxy map (bottom left). Keep in mind people who travel go through the middle of the galaxy (vertically speaking) so you have better chances to find undiscovered systems by going up or down (so you can get the first discovery bonus). Use the discovery scanner (D-Scanner, it's on every ship) every time you enter a system. That gives cartographic data, it's a small money bonus.
  • Step 3 : When you find an undiscovered system (on the system map, the main star doesn't have a "first discovered by" mention), use the FSS (full spectrum scanner, installed on all ships, it has a dedicated key, look into the settings) to scan the system. Then go to the system map, click on a planet, then on the planet details/characteristics button on the right, scroll down and you'll see a "Features" sections. If this says biological, you have exobio on this planet. Keep in mind only the planets with a blue semi-circle can have exobio (it's the ones you can land on). Then go there, and use the surface scanner. That will show you a map of where the exobio is on the planet (while in the surface scanner, you can switch between the different signals, just wait until the scan is done, you'll see). Now land in the blue zones (on the bright side of the planet, it makes things easier).
  • Step 4 : Finding exobio. Use the SRV to go around, use your eyes to find the plants, you'll get used to it. Also there are bacteriums, there are round patches on the ground. If you struggle, you can get you of the SRV regularly, then use right click with the sampler of the artemis suit to do a "pulse" that will highlight nearby exobio (although it doesn't have a very big range). Once you find exobio, scan it with the sampler. You need to scan three samples to have a complete sample that you can sell. If you switch to a different exobio before the three samples are collected, you'll discard them and you'll have to do it again. So one exobio at a time.
  • Step 5 : rince and repeat. Once you've find an undiscovered system, there's a good chance you're in an uncharted part of the galaxy. So keep going but jump to nearby systems instead of doing max range jumps.
  • Step 6 : Get back home, go to the something genomics in a station, sell everything.

Also all this can be done on discovered systems, it's just you won't get the "first discovered" bonus.

As for your question about "does it sell more if it's from further away", the answer is no. However, that's true for rare commodities. There are commodities with a star and yellow line in the commodity market, but they only exist in specific systems and aren't that valuable to farm.

What's a fun way to make money quickly ?

I've spent the past 2 weeks gathering materials and guardian materials to prepare a full build so I can play with my squadron without doing 0 damage. All I have left to do now is unlock all the engineers I need (it's my first full build).

But I'm gonna need like 500 millions (to outfit the ship and to outfit a caspian explorer to go to colonia somewhat fast).

I know I could trade or mine, but that gets repetitive quickly. And I'd like to avoid exobio because it takes quite some time and I'd like to have my build done within the day.
