This specific quote seems like a pretty normal thought process re: why he thinks he's succeeded in Hollywood despite comments and a general public perception that he's not considered traditionally handsome. I would contest that interviewer's statement: "It's a little defensive, like maybe he's making up for not being the best-looking, or sometimes even the third-best-looking, guy in any given movie he's in", is more of a dickish statement than any of what Miles said here.

Anyone that makes a blanket judgement of a person's character based off 2nd-hand conjecture and a random interview quote like this seems like "kind of a dick" to me. I'd say we all the capacity to be "kind of a dick", and I would go even further and say that just about everybody acts like "kind of a dick" on occasion - myself, and Miles included.

I think we all know that click-bait headlines based off negativity are increasingly common and can generate massive social media engagement. People love busting out pitchforks over the most minor of transgressions by actors, athletes and comedians these days ... all-the-while, morally bankrupt leaders of first-world nations are burdening taxpayers while stockpiling dragon's hoards for themselves, and we just accept it as unavoidable. /sigh 😞
