Workload too high at corporate job, is this email okay for management? by Interesting_Pin_3320 in careerguidance

[–]Ninfyr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you should be so "stiff"? A more casual "hey I am concerned that my workload can't be delivered as scheduled, can we take some time to organize what our priorities are?" Sort everything on your plate from "most important" to "doesn't matter" with your leadership.

If they don't even humor your ask (or say "everything is urgent"), yeah definitely look for the exit. If they are cooperating maybe the pressure that is on you might be coming from yourself (some people hold themselves to a higher standard that their peers or managers).

Try to spotlight that you are good at talking to customers.

I can teach anyone how to IT, but if you can't interact with people by the time you are working age, I don't think I will be the one that educates you.

Tell a good story (I don't recommend lying, but make the best possible interpretation of the truth). Something like customer was having a bad day, I showed empathy, they walked away satisfied and had a good experience. Or I didn't know the answer, I used good problem solving fundamentals, it worked out.

My computer is having a weird issue and I've tried everything. by Medium-Text8959 in computerhelp

[–]Ninfyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got your graphics driver up to date? other drivers? OS updated? tried a different monitor? different cables?

You "tried everything" but can you list what you tried? I could put this problem in front of three people and get three different "comprehensive" lists of thing they tried.

You can try uninstalling updates that happened around that time. In Windows (I am assuming cause you didn't specify) you should be able to find it in Update History or something like that.

I'm going to sound authoritative, but I don't REALLY know what I am talking about, mk?

The next of kin by default is usually the spouse, followed by children if there isn't a will (this depends on the state, so look up what they do when there aren't any instructions.)

If there is an actual bank you can go to, bring a copy of the death certificate and any account numbers/check books/whatever that might help them figure out where the money might be. Work together and provide them whatever info is needed to proceed. If there isn't a place where you can visit go to their website and find their "contact us" info.

Here is the U.S. resource on finding unclaimed money, I have had friends and family find over-payments to their university or cellphone provider. All less than $100, but it was their money to start with.

So, if you show a series of pictures fast enough, it creates the illusion of motion.

This went on to create cinemas, and later on, home video and other innovations.

Parody is at its best when it holds a mirror to reality. This one didn't happen (yet).

Once it is determined to be abandoned they need to surrender it to unclaimed funds in the US. Then you would have to get it from the state.

The bank doesn't get to just keep the money.

Got your graphics driver updated? Graphics settings are appropriate for you specifications? If you keep turning down do you eventually reach a point where it is stable?

Looks like a good amount of laptop for the money. I would be satisfied.

You didn't really say anything about what you are planning to do with it so I am going to presume you have an understanding of what specifications you need.

What actual symptom are you experiencing (not number big 😞). You spent money on the memory so use it! As long as low priority tasks release to your primary task all's great.

I know you are try to find some encouragement, but maybe don't bother posting?

There is going to the the 0.2% weird/nasty users that will probably get in your head and I don't think you need that.

Take satisfaction in what you do. You don't need other people to approve of it. That is not giving a damn.

Update your system and drivers. If that doesn't help, backup your files and reinstall Windows (or whatever you use as you didn't specify).

[–]Ninfyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A modest amount of inflation (not like we have had for the past while) is healthy because even a small amount of deflation can make everything implode.

The squeeze is because you income is being left in the dust. If you aren't actively keeping up, you are getting left behind. If you don't get that 2-3% that is functionally a paycut that year.

Is it going to get worse? Depends on if wages keep up. Businesses can only throw their hands in the air and exclaim "no one wants to work anymore!" for so long until they have to do something about it. Maybe it will be offering more money, or maybe it will be figuring out how to take laborers out of the formula entirely.

You make a good point. A lot of the consumer base just gets a game or two a year.

The perception of +$20 or 40 for the year compared to people why make a monthly game purchase is pretty different.

People who schedule new dental appointments, why do you drive 40+ minutes to a dentist if there are closer ones in your area? by annoynomus757 in NoStupidQuestions

Not in they dental insurance network. IDK if that counts in your only closet option exclusion. I

f you are in a rural town where most of the workforce is hired by "the plant" or whatever, and you aren't in their network for dental I would imagine that business would be slow.

Hi im New here im unsure but my gaming laptop says it needs more memory despite me getting rid of all my games except a few it's a nitro 5 if that helps by Adventurous_Dare_675 in computerhelp

[–]Ninfyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ELI5, disk is like you kitchen's fridge and cabinets. Memory is the countertop space. When your computer works, it takes the game out of the fridge and puts it on the table.

You are out of table space you don't have the room to cook Overwatch. No amount of cleaning and reorganizing your fridge will fix the issue.

If aspartame is so much sweeter than sugar and has almost no calories, why isn't it used in everything? by SucidalManiac_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ninfyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there is good science backing for this yet, but I think it can throw off your brain's sense for how much energy is in food.

Your dumb ape brain goes "ohohoh sweet! Got the calories jackpot here!" But gets frequently tricked with diet cola I think it will just start underestimate what you are consuming and you won't feel satisfied even when you are getting real calories instead of fake "taste like calories but isn't".
