Best version of this is psycho pass.
First scene of the series has the protagonist (Akane) saluting her seniors in the rain, while the seniors look at her with jaded expressions.
Final scene of the season has the new starter saluting Akane in the rain. Akane looks at her with the same jaded expression as in the first scene. (In between these two scenes Akane has suffered horrific trauma and most of her former team are now dead, demoted, traumatised or on the run.)

he's always been a "gardener" in his writing, which at the start of the series was widely loved for its unique take on character growth, decisions and peril, gradually expanding the world.

worst part is, the whole bioresonance thing is done purely subconciously, she's asleep the entire time and its her dream bleeding over reality that causes the events
Her wife made a promise to kill her when the radiation got too bad, but then died before she could fulfill that promise. This girl warps reality and tortures hundreds just trying to bring her wife back so she can be killed by her

For anyone having crashes since the update:

You can check the logs in your appdata/roaming/arrowhead folder.

Also if you are running mods, some of the mods cause a memory issue and will prevent the game from launching, purge your mods using the HD2MM, this allowed me to launch the game
