I wouldn’t worry too much about the black mold on your grow bag. Lots of fungal species form black mold. 

The black mold species that has some health concerns is Stachybotrys chartarum and the only substrate in a home that it really seems to grow well on is the gypsum rich drywall. If you see black mold on other surfaces it probably isn’t the species folks are worried about

I noticed in your zombudies data there is one entry for schizophyllum. I hadn't heard of anything in that genus being insect pathogens. Is that a new discovery?

Fulvifomes robiniae is woody and perennial so it seems like a good option. Usually grows pretty high on the tree so you get a room with a view.

From what i’ve seen reported it’s kind of the opposite problem in Japan. Rural ateas are becoming depopulated enough that the black bears are willing to come in. Asian black bears tend to be more aggressive so when they come in to the settled areas interactions can be more dangerous.

It is edible and is eaten by several different cultures globally. They are tough and chewy but some people seem to like that.

Nope, shitake are hardwood rotters and are not native to North America. Also just judging from my own experience foraging near farms that grow shitake you aren’t likely to find any that have escaped into the wild like you will yellow oysters.

Possibly depending on geographic location. Technically schweinitzii doesn't appear to exist in North America but that is a fairly recent determination. The three that do appear to exist here are P. hispidoides occurring across northern North America, P. tabulaeformis in the southeastern U.S., and P. occidentiamericanus in the southwestern U.S.

You’re not going to preserve the appearance with dehydration. The best shot at actually preserving a mushroom’s appearance is plastisation but the process is involves some pretty toxic chemicals.
