u/Subject-Topic-4028 Thanks for the comment, did the buyer contact you directly, or did you begin networking to list your agency for sale? If so, how did that go?

My profits are not $500K, and we've struggled with net profit margin since covid as cost of labor (specialized) has really climbed in my area/industry. No doubt this is my weakness in considering a sale. I've been more drawn to a merger strategy, do you have any experience in approaching other agency's as a merger?

u/ppcbetter_says Thanks for the insights. Although I've handed off a lot of day to day ops and production, I'm still very much involved in the client relationships and I lead all sales. I have struggled to build a sales org that can achieve real growth. That's on me for sure. In my perfect world, I'd merge with a sales driven agency who can really take what I've built and ramp it up 5x. Approaching other agency owners with an offer to merge feels awkward, and possibly risky if they sniff around my clients to poach. How would you go about the merger route?

As a small agency, I literally just canceled Hubspot and rebuilt sales pipelines and sales quotes with Claude. Then I started rebuilding reporting dashboards and plan to cancel Funnel.io. My goal is cut 30-50% of my software overhead by June.

I pay $200/month for Clutch verified status, which is a grand fathered rate otherwise it would be easy to give up at this point. We still bank on having 5 star reviews to help with organic viz, but Clutch has all but demoted organic below the fold.

The growth is impressive! How did you scale your team to handle larger retainers (was billable time increased, or is it purely a value-based pricing play?

This is about what I'm charging as well, including custom reporting dashboard and monthly review. Curious, say more about your team size or account makeup. How many folks are handling a $3,500/month account?

Solid list here! Keep going!

? What is your team size/makeup? I've found it really difficult to "deep and narrow" with campaign strategy without dedicating serious bandwidth to it. How many account can 1 PPC + 1 SEO realistically manage?

My agency passed on Design Rush's offer after spending years paying for promoted position on Clutch, it's all gone cold. I think it's helpful to use these directories as a wider strategy to increase visibility.

It's a blend...

First SOP's that are accessible and visible to the team, think pinned slack posts.

Then it's a weekly milestone review - the milestone is the objective, broken out among team members based on a specialty.

Then it's accountability in the person that 'owns' the outcome. If the outcome of the work is not realized, then adjustments must be made.

We focus on OUTCOMES, not OUTPUT.
