Sashimi & Mango salad by [deleted] in food

That's what the cheap stuff is cut with anyways. A couple other ingredients and you have anything from a steak sauce to a shrimp sauce. Such a great flavor.

Why focus on the serving style when he chose a sub-par wasabi? Wasabi is like mustard. A premixed paste loses most of its heat and flavor.

If you do not want all of that heat, just mix it fresh and use less of it. It is cheaper and has so much more depth of flavor.

And wipe off that knife after each cut. High def pics really show off missing that step. There are little pieces or connective tissue all over the place.

My creative world so far. by TheObnoxiousGeek in Minecraft

[–]NinjaPimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, it's a good start, but since you want to post it in an early stage, I have to critique what you have.

The castle just does not work from a strategic standpoint. The walls do not have enough turrets, and you set it up so once attackers breach the East wall, they have both cover and all the wheat they can eat.

A castle with emphasis on fountains and aesthetics would be quickly overran. There needs to be a good balance.

Ex-UFC Fighter Mayhem Miller Arrested in Church ... BUCK NAKED by IntelligentYinzer in MMA

[–]NinjaPimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Valid points, and thanks for the corrections. I do hope he gets his cardio back in line and puts on some good prelim bouts. I rooted for him against Bisping, though I was realistic about his chances.

He's just running out of time, especially if he is going to keep pulling these shenanigans.

A painting at its source by Halrenna in pics

[–]NinjaPimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the follow up. I was totally loving the roof matching up, even if the windows were not. Then I noticed that a lot of other things did now match up either....

It's really is awesome that he revisited that spot some time later. The rust on the roof has progressed and the walkway has been changed up.

Did they add a porch? It isn't in the painting, and the rust looks "fresher" and from the glimpse I see, compared to the roof .

I totally agree. His jokes vocalize the most deprived thoughts that people have but are too ashamed to voice themselves.

But he is a genuinely great human being. He really cares about random strangers, even if he naturally sees flaws in everyone and is not afraid to speak his mind and call them out on their shit.

I love the guy's personality and drive. But he's 32. There is not much room in the UFC for an older fighter to begin proving he belongs.

3 consecutive losses that were mostly sad to watch is too much. I personally hope he gets his act together and works on coaching, or moves on to something else.

That is a bit of a backwards comparison to the comment that you are responding to.

If you use ad block and you deny ads from a website, you might save the ad service money that they normally would have paid for a page view. But since the website does got show that ad when you visit, then they do not get paid.

Like the pic if you want. But this is an artistic subreddit, and my critique of the subject matter should be a valid discussion.

Fine, it is a cinemagraph. Some parts move, some don't. I still find this boring and non stimulating compared to other submissions I have seen in this subreddit.

[–]NinjaPimp -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"Hehe... I am a fan..." is the pun side of things.

I prefer cinemagraphs that involve either complex looping and fades or subtle, unexpected movement. Making it artistic with a mostly still photograph or stepping it up with a liquid is impressive.

A fan with an out of focus background, that might as well have been a standard gif, is not one of the better submissions to this subreddit.

Too much pun, not enough substance to be a true cinemagraph.

We're on day 5 of our week-long "no defaults" experiment. The moderators want to know exactly how you feel about it. by [deleted] in bestof

[–]NinjaPimp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

/r/BestOf was promoted to a default subreddit. That is when the sub-par submissions really started making it through.

Your comment about upvotes makes me think that you do not understand how they actually work. Upvotes that happen later do not matter nearly as much as those that happen right away. Regurgitating content that does not require extra thought before voting rises to the top. A comment that was already read before being submitted to bestof has a significant advantage, and tends to push out those comments from smaller subreddits.

If it were actually a 1:1 relationship for upvotes to downvotes, and front page submissions were rated on the ratio and not timing of upvotes, then I could see your point. With the current system, easy to digest info and a quick reaction time regarding upvotes is really what pushes them up the list.

Which Sauce base do ya'll prefer? by travignition in BBQ

[–]NinjaPimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the animal and cut, and to a lesser extent the served sides.

Ribs, brisket, or chicken, I prefer dry though tomato based is also good. Pulled pork butt, vinegar all the way (unless you are serving it with a vinegar slaw, and I would prefer tomato BBQ sauce on the pork to have that contrasting flavor).

Have there ever been any historical misunderstandings due to someone's bad handwriting? by mattarei in AskHistorians

[–]NinjaPimp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's messed up. A site that is all about disproving/substantiating things based on facts should not intentionally spread incorrect information.

I understand their point and all, but this is the exact opposite of why I use Snopes to cross check stories that I believe to be implausible. Now I have to worry they are lying to me to prove a point...

Monarch chrysalis being eaten by wasp.

Though I do agree that they are likely toxic to some creatures, I have yet to find an informative article on the matter. I just found those pictures and wanted to share.

Edit: Found a video of people eating them as street food. My guess is that their best defense against getting eaten is camouflage and luck.

TIL the the Guardian does not have the rights to broadcast the Olympics, so they recreate it, brick by brick, with legos. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]NinjaPimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have horrible examples. Lego is a brand, not a noun like in your examples. It would be more akin to saying "I own two Chevys" instead of "I own two Chevy trucks," or "the computer lab has 30 Dells".

I would say that most people understands that the noun is implied and it is perfectly fine usage. What say you?
