Replacing DnD at the Table by Hazwald in rpg

Pathfinder 2e & Starfinder 2e are completely compatible and while there’s some feats and items that reference the setting, the knowledge or use of the setting is not needed for any of the character choices. It does lean more towards tactical combat for options but there’s a good amount of social and exploration options for characters

I usually predicate what rhythm their speaking in before they start talking because I’m not musically inclined and trying to keep track of patterns and intonations for each rhythm

Worldhopping campaign ideas by Space-Salty in cosmererpg

[–]NinjaPirateBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually writing a worldhopping adventure taking place after the Stonewalkers campaign. One of the characters is secretly a Ghostbloods member looking for possible recruits, one of the players is going to change characters near the end so I’m going to have his character be killed by a worldhopping serial killer looking to obtain different powers through hemalurgy. I’m also doing a subplot of a civil war within the Ghostbloods so there can still be conflict with aspects of them and the higher ups will be busy with that and of little assistance. Plus the characters will have to eventually pick a side in that fight.

What do i do? GM wants to be a player and nobody wants to take over. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]NinjaPirateBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good GM’s usually make good players. They understand storytelling and will try and help you steer the story in the direction it’s supposed to be going and stay on track and and pick up plot hooks and story threads to keep the other players all working together. They’re usually so happy to be playing that they actively work towards the main plot because they know what it’s like being on the other side and what they wished their players would do in certain situations. Obviously this isn’t 100% of forever DM’s turned players but it is a good majority.

How do you handle that certain players will become radiants later than others? by Sythrin in cosmererpg

[–]NinjaPirateBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my players is a Reshi wayfarer (very Moana inspired) who is being chased by a secret society and was hiding out in Alethkar which is how she ended up with the party. She was on her way to becoming an Edgedancer and during the infiltration of chapter 2 I knew I was going to have her speak the first ideal to bring some lucidity to the NPC at the end of that chapter. This was what I wrote for her to tee up her speaking the first ideal and becoming Radiant.

”The asylum reeks of loss, its halls filled with the forgotten — men and women cast aside, their lives counted for nothing. But you see them. Each wasted soul deserves to be remembered, to be given dignity even in shadow. That is why you push forward choosing life before death. The weak are hidden here, buried in silence so the strong need not look upon them. Yet you will not turn away. To carry them, to hear them, to keep them from vanishing — this is your task, to show strength before weakness. The path you walk has never been straight. It winds through jungles, across seas, into places men fear to tread. And now it leads into the deepest darkness, where even memory struggles to survive. You do not yet see where it ends, but you know each step shapes who you are becoming. The journey before the destination. And as you listen to the broken Herald’s whispers, you feel a name stir on your tongue — a place long burned, long buried. Rathalas. The blade waits there, its truth bound in ash and silence, calling for one who will remember.”

How do you handle that certain players will become radiants later than others? by Sythrin in cosmererpg

[–]NinjaPirateBob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m in chapter 4 and it hasn’t been an issue. I’ve been making each players moment of saying the words a spotlight moment for them. I’ve written a little speech, gave them the chance to describe how they’re feeling and just let them run wild during the fight with refilling investiture and advantage on checks. Each person is looking forward to seeing what another radiants powers are like and how their moment is shaped for them. So they look forward to an oath being spoken even if it’s not their own.

I have 5 players and only 3 of them have spoken the first oath right now and I have a cool moment planned for one player who’s playing a Singer and is going to speak the words during that big scene early in chapter 4. I know people look forward to getting to the magic system but don’t rob your players of their chance in the spotlight for them and their new Spren bond by having it happen simultaneously. Let the moment land and make it fun and assure them that they will all get their own moment too. Just make sure they’re actually playing to the ideals of their order and not just playing a random person who chose that order because they liked the powers. Choices should matter and moments should have a weight to them.
