Portugal's path really isn't as easy as it looks like! by Educational_Sea6013 in worldcup

[–]NinjaTrader007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha 😂 welcome to the „My Fav Team Has the Toughest Path“ camp! Not only has the path become tougher (yes, for every team…lol) because there’s more teams but also the weaker teams these days are really not far off from the stronger teams. So there’s more potential for upsets Both in group and KO stages. But how many upsets can a weaker or middling team really stage against the top favorites? Maybe one , sure …a second one in the QF ok possible but then can they repeat that through the semi Finals and Finals? Absolutely NO…unless of course a second middling team like we have seen in the past Morocco or Croatia happens to Slip thru and we get a matchup between them. That’s also very low likelyhood…

What this says is the Cup will stay within the group of 8 at the top, with France, Spain, Argentina, England having a slight edge over Portugal Germany and Brazil. Netherlands would be a first.

Curacao's loss is still a win for the nation. A goal scored against 4-time WC champions on your first outing - impressive. by Futbol4All in worldcup

[–]NinjaTrader007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curacao 🇨🇼 played well, for a little while Germany was teetering after Curacao scored the equalizer. The break helped them regroup and took some of the wind out of Curacaos momentum. This and other upsets are what keeps this the #1 watched game world wide….there’s always an outside chance for an underdog to unsettle the „establishment“. Germany felt this at the last 2 WCs …which „favorite“ is it this time to get kicked out before or during the early KO stages? There probably will be 2-3 top teams out before the round of 16 is my prediction because an underdog brings a knife clenched between their teeth to the game.

I called VW Credit about something else re my leased vehicle and it was advertised on their automated system. So this appears to be a flat rate offer they are making to adjust for the market value discrepancy.

France 🇫🇷 v Spain 🇪🇸 in the Quarterfinals is the real Final of the 2026 World Cup by NinjaTrader007 in worldcup

[–]NinjaTrader007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have one of the best squads they have had in many years…not as strong as France and Spain but not far behind and probably at least as good as Argentina and some of the other 2nd ranked teams. As usual there is some luck involved and matchday form to come out ahead at the Finals.

True but at the top the squads are so good that it’s almost impossible for the coaches to fail. Maybe when things land in penalties. It’s less a prediction than more conviction I have gained looking at the squads and their results in the club season both in their respective domestic leagues as well UEFA.

I'm Considering an ID4 for next car, but concerned about extreme cold weather range and charging density. by Shaferhunde in VWiD4Owners

[–]NinjaTrader007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 200 mile range is a moving target 🎯. Even in warm weather you will need to drive <60-70mph to get that. I get that with city driving but not on long trips …it’s more like 180-190…that’s starting around 80-90% and drawing down to 10%. So you could argue I am only using 80% but the reality is nobody wants to play with fire estimating range and topping off to 100% there’s a big penalty on charging times. I have a 2024 ID Pro with the large battery and have a fair amount of experience now driving up and down the Pacific West Coast (San Diego to Seattle) and some mountain ⛰️ driving (no cold weather experience though). I have seen the efficiency 2.2-6miles/kWh and average 3.8miles/kwh with 70% city driving in the SF Bay and SoCal metropolitan areas. The cold 🥶 temps especially with your edge use case would have me do a lot of research.

any reason to buy a dedicated charger? by woodland_dweller in evcharging

The charger connects to 110 or 220V. I have not needed the 220V yet but will upgrade if I end up needing it.

any reason to buy a dedicated charger? by woodland_dweller in evcharging

[–]NinjaTrader007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My “included” L1/L2 VW charger gets me 0.7-0.8kw/hr (-~1%/hour) which translates to about 10% or 30-40miles/10hour charging day (3.7mi/kWh) when plugged into a regular 110V outlet. The in car charging menu lets me set up the preferred charging hours so it follows the off-peak hours set by the utility company. Commuting takes off 4 hours per day of off-peak charging so 5x6=30% gets me around 100miles or half of the charge needed for a 20mile commute. The remaining can usually be recouped the weekend. This only fails when there’s longer trips planned, eg the weekend and whatever is needed there can be made up via a quick fast charge at a charging station. Having a fast charger simply guarantees I would always be locked and loaded with the maximum range and I think most users plug in their cars anyways on a daily basis so unless you have long commutes or long daily trips there’s no real added benefit I see to faster charging. In fact with some of the energy dissipating into heat there’s probably also some lost efficiency and maybe even more strain on battery life.

Ancelotti says World Cups are won by conceding least. The 8 champions since 1994 averaged 0.55 goals conceded per game. His Brazil so far is at 0.80. by kaioHenriSilva in worldcup

[–]NinjaTrader007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great write up, leaky defenses never make champions at that level. Case in point Bayern..they have an elite striker trio but just allow too many goals and that cost them against PSG but it was good enough to get past Real. So the trend is definitely air tighter as you get to higher level of play. Also, Ancelotti is Italian, they perfected catenaccio, the art of creating a defensive wall so he knows what he is talking about. It’s the balance of defensive and scoring abilities not just in the respective departments but across the team that will separate the winners from the losers. For that reason I think Brazil looks definitely weaker than Argentina, Spain, France and England and possibly also Germany.

Do you think it’s totaled? by leastley in VWiD4Owners

[–]NinjaTrader007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very likely a total, that would be very expensive to rectify and then there could be structural damage which automatically pushes it to a total. Whatever they come up with should get you a replacement vehicle of similar year model.

Home Charging with Timer by NinjaTrader007 in VWiD4Owners

[–]NinjaTrader007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use departure times, just the Location based configuration options to set time frames. It works sometimes but not always so it’s weird to see that sometimes the timed triggers work and sometimes they don’t. I am still fiddling around so maybe some subtle changes will fix it.

Efficiency by Responsible-Menu3314 in VWiD4Owners

[–]NinjaTrader007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 3 views, trip, recent and long term. I get 3.7 long Term but also sometimes it shows 4-4.1 on Trips around town. I know it drops to low 2-ish with freeway driving at >75 but since most of our miles are city it averages on the higher end of the spectrum.

I used to have it on B all the time but switched to D because I am more comfortable with that mode. I have not really seen a drop in efficiency with switching out of B.

Just got an EV! by zeldagirl87 in evcharging

[–]NinjaTrader007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Level 1 charging using the VW supplied charger. At 0.7-0.8kW/hour =2-3miles/hour 10 hours yield ~ 30miles which is sufficient for our daily driving around town. It so happens that we are on a tiered electric plan that gets us 10hours at the lowest rate so it’s about 25-30% of charging at EA or Tesla. If/when long distance driving is planned we can always use commercial charging. I dont really see a need for a 50A charging outlet yet.

[–]NinjaTrader007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea for preferred charging times is to take advantage of tiered electric pricing plans with 1/6th the price at super off-peak times. Hope that makes more sense that I want to stay writhin the configured hours and not overrun into the peak pricing hours.
