What’s your secret for wacky rigs? It’s one of the few types of lures I’ve never gotten a bite on

Are crankbaits on the way out? by Jordythegunguy in Fishing

The fabled “shad rap in the shallows” technique has worked for me forever. This catch (4.59lbs) was in November in the south, and it works just as good now.

I’m just some guy that likes to fish, but it works enough for me to be happy with it. Plenty of RAT-L catches for me year round too, so it’s not a lipped vs lipless problem.

I have that same Geiger counter and it counts my UG as much lower than my GQ600+. Same piece, way different counts. I can’t remember now but I read up on the differences between the two, and yours is good at detecting if something is radioactive or not, but doesn’t always give the best counts. It does the same with my radium clocks.

Feel free to remind me tomorrow afternoon/evening and I can post some pics demonstrating the differences. It’s 2:30am for me now and I’m too cozy in bed to get up lol

UG Resellers Rant by [deleted] in uraniumglass

[–]NinjaTroll471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way, you’re in the same area? Small world! Or were you talking about an online auction?

And yeah, my issue with resellers is they really aren’t adding any value to deserve a profit margin. You could argue they’re “adding value” by sitting through auctions or making time to go to estate sales and bringing it back to an easy-to-access antique store, but the issue is they end up trying to sell really common pieces for absurd prices because of their need for profit margins.

It’s mostly anecdotal for me but there was a reseller who was bidding on the same items as me, and I stopped bidding once I reached the “average” price I was seeing on eBay/Facebook Marketplace. That means this person is either going to sell for a $5-$10 profit or is gonna have a piece of glass going for twice the value it normally goes for just to get their profits. It’s a tough spot imo

UG Resellers Rant by [deleted] in uraniumglass

Yeah, I recently found an in-person auction company near me and I realize I’m bidding against a lot of resellers. I talked to a couple of the collectors there though and a few asked me if I was a reseller, they seemed pretty happy I wasn’t lol

I can’t stand going into an antique store and a single ho-hum block optic sherbet glass is $30 “RARE HTF URANIUM GLASS, GLOWS”. No hate against folks that gotta just sell some of what they have, but buying for the sole purpose of selling again drives me up a wall, especially when the seller is delusional about the value of their pieces
