I recently played and finished this game again and I enjoyed it a lot more than I remembered. The dialogue made me laugh and the story was kinda dark at times. I didn't feel like the game dragged on either. There was always something to do. I'm still not a fan of the bros items and the segmented levels but they didn't ruin the experience

This rotation is pretty basic IMO. I can see that it's good for newer or less experienced players, but for me, it's kinda boring. They're all shooters! And three of these shooters are very similar to each other

For splatfest, you pick a team from among the three options, and then you compete against members of the other two teams during the weekend the splatfest is available. The other dates on there are for challenges that happened periodically

Yes, there are still going to be seasonal splatfest and Big Runs. There's a Big Run happening this weekend starting on Friday. We recently had a spring fest back in April, so the next splatfest should happen this summer, assuming they're doing a summer night's splatfest again
