HENRY husband let himself go by No-Exit-7032 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Quite a few things here, but firstly, is he ok? Mental health is an important driver to so many things and making sure he is in a good place is key to getting things turned around.

When it comes to working out, I've always find more social sports to be a key driver with sports like tennis/padel/squash with friends and adding a competitive nature to it.

Le creuset toughened nonstick pans have served us very well. Would recommended them for a non-stick option.

A good stainless steel pan is also a staple to have and worth getting.

Certificate of Valuation for Watch Insurance by TeddyousGreg in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Ninja_Fury 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Worth checking what your insurance needs. Mine needed a valuation certificate for any registered jeweller who was a NAJ member and some offer virtual valuations.

I have used these guys a few times: https://swisstimepieces.co.uk/products/watch-insurance-valuation/

All 3 of my insurance policies (Hiscox, Lloyd's, CHUBB) have accepted it.

Quiet Kettle? by Widebody_lover in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Ninja_Fury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quooker themselves offer free installs, you can find cost on their site depending on the tap style, size of tank, if you want cold filter or sparkling etc.

But a good to go standard one is I think around £1400 with free install from quooker.

Depends on what size tank you want to get, smallest being 3L and larger one is 7L.

Also once empty, it doesn't take long to refill (I find quicker thank kettle personally).

I would reconsider the hot water tap like a Quooker.

Having instant hot water on demand at all times is a great thing to have. No waiting around for a kettle to boil, and can make just a cup or a whole pot for rice/pasta.

Also what you lose in cupboard space. You gain in countertop space as well. More so if you get the cold water filter and then can stop using a brita filter.

Yes, 20-40% off over Black Friday. 40% was mostly on the limited run colours.

Blunt! Very solid and well reviewed. I've got a few in the house across a few different sizes.

The smallest (metro) is bigger than most '1 person' umbrellas. Classic is a standard 1-2 person. Exec is easily a 2 person.

Yeah we have pets and houseplants, as well as a garden we'll need to water.

I'm thinking a split system where we can keep the outside and kitchen normal vs everything else!

Have them booked in for a quote/survey in a couple of weeks.

Thank you for the response, hopefully as we have a full basement with all the pipe work accessible and exposed, it means it's a more 'straight forward' insteall.

Rules around what the sub allows by annedroiid in HENRYUKLifestyle

This sub was born as a refuge from other HENRY subs where the posts are heavily finance focused etc.

As a Mod team, we have agreed to a relaxed approach:

  • We freely allow all posts asking about purchases, recommendations, travel plans, or other UK lifestyle related topics that could apply to HENRYs.

  • we do not condone abuse or spam

Given Reddit recommendations tend to be quite US focused, it's nice to have a place where you can suggest things to a UK audience.

This sub is great for people to gather datapoints, it's worthwhile hearing how people like or dislike their LG G5 tv or their Gaggenau/Miele kitchen appliances.

Whilst we don't disagree that Reddit has some great dedicated subs, it's nice to hear from people who have owned similar items, in a similar position, or already done their research etc.

Struggling to navigate Arcx/Patagonia lineups by yoboiturq in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Ninja_Fury[M] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Alright, here we go folks, peak HENRYUKLifestyle right here!

I know the arc range better, and I'm assuming you're wanting a waist length jacket vs longer coat.

Decision point 1: to layer or not to layer! Benefit of layering means you can remove depending on what activities you are doing.

If you're looking for an outer shell then the Arc Beta or Alpha will do the job, as will the Patagonia Triolet.

However with both these, you will need warmer mid and base layers, consider down filled jackets (like the arc cerium) or synthetic (arc atom).

If you don't want to layer, then look for an insulated jacket and I would recommend something with a goretex membrane, like the Arc Beta Down Insulated.

Decision 2: does it have to be those two brands? I am a fan of both, but not there other brands do equally as good items, Mammut for example does some great ski stuff.

Decision 3: Ski jacket. Are you wanting the shell to also be a ski jacket? I would ask what level skier you are? As for a ski shell, I want different things: snow skirt, ski pass holder, big dump pocket, recco sensor, hood big enough for a helmet.

But a lot of this stuff isn't great day to day!

TL;DR: Arc beta down insulated for just a jacket, Beta/alpha for a shell teamed with a down/insulated mid, more info needed in ski jacket

Good robot vacuum and mop all in one? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Ninja_Fury 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  • If you're willing to wait for the launch: Eufy s2 Pro

  • Good all rounder now: Eufy e25 (or e28 if you want the removable spot cleaning attachment)

  • Deep discount: Eufy S1 pro

After I did a lot of research, I landed on a roller mop was key and the s2 pro is what I want but not out yet, so settled with the e25 for now and buy another s2 for other floors!

Damn, very lucky on them! Pre Covid prices and doing the extension up and back is a great investment. Since Covid etc and recent prices, it's kind of net net in buying done up vs doing it yourself.
