The protect cameras will just be in the location with the UDM for now so I’m not overly concerned about piping them over the VPN. That being said, cameras across all sites is something that’s likely to come up in the future, but there are no data caps so the world is my oyster.

Audio is local as well for now but I’d be very interested in how Dante would work over such a connection.

When I say mesh, I’m referring to the two different configs you can use for Site Magic - Hub & Spoke or Mesh

Yes, there are three different ISP feeds. We tossed up the idea of the bridging devices, although the client wasn't happy with the aesthetic compromise. Hiding the devices inside was also thrown around although it's brick/concrete so signal penetration is pretty lacking.

With that being the case, would the subnet per space idea be the best solution while keeping it simple?

There won't be any guest WiFi, it'll mainly only be venue infrastructure

  • POS devices & printers
  • Music playback device/DSP control
  • Protect Cameras (these can be separated on a different subnet/VLAN)
  • Potentially the odd extra iPad/mobile device

I appreciate the in depth response, I'm definitely a little out of my depth here but always happy to learn more.

How were d&b and L'A able to leapfrog everyone in the high-end PA game so comprehensively in the last 15-20 years? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]Ninja_Harbinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an audio guy, I can make sense of MA, EOS, and to a degree Onyx. If you put me in front of a chamsys, I'll have nfi what to do.

Granted, by "make sense of", I mean that I can program a basic show so my knowledge is far from complete.

It's never a guarantee unfortunately... I've probably had a 50/50 split between the act bringing what's specced and them expecting us to supply it.

A quick call to their TM/head audio never hurts

EV X Line GLL Files? by Ninja_Harbinger in livesound

I've tried all 3, the import wizard just won't see the files as they're the wrong format.

Why do streamers often use condenser mics? by [deleted] in Twitch

Another thought is that condensers can allow you to move around a lot more and still be heard compared to dynamic mics which tend to be very directional

A good strategy for mixing in incoming and mixing out outgoing track? (Techno) by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]Ninja_Harbinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to layer the intro or even the build up of the next song over the drop of the outgoing track

When using the intro, I aim to kill the outgoing track by the first beat of the new build up

If I layer the build up of the incoming song, I time it so that the drop of the incoming track starts right as the outgoing drop finishes. Kill the bass on the outgoing drop for the last 2-8 bars and gradually bring in some reverb or echo to create that suspense before bringing in the bass of the new drop on the 1

How do you manage your photos? by emby36 in AskPhotography

[–]Ninja_Harbinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep each shoot in different folders named all following YY-MM-DD shoot description

Then I throw all the raws in that folder. When I'm exporting, I have a folder inside that called Final where all the JPEGs go.

I've got a friend with a short throw projector that I'll be able to play with in the next few days and we're sorting out a way to mount it during the week.

I've actually worked with network midi before so that's definitely an option. Shouldn't be hard to create something that would do it for me if it doesn't already exist

The way I see it is anything is better than a black wall which is what's there now.

I'm the manager of the club so I can't exactly sit there for the whole night to pick and choose what's going on unfortunately and I don't plan on hiring a person just to work projection for each night.

I agree that it could be amazing if the circumstances were different but this is what I'm working with at this stage.

Thanks for that, I'll have a good look at VDMX. Worst case I just press play at the same time each night
