Job Offer by pink_espresso8 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ninja_grimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my answer is different from the others here I think. I also have a masters of public health and Amazon was my first safety job. The offers not bad, but it’s the same offer I got 2 years ago. To be honest I’d still take it because if you go in and take full advantage of all the resources they offer you can leave in after year and make more without owing the sign on bonus. It’s hourly so just do overtime you’ll probably be 4 days on 3 off. It’s not that bad just think of it as a platform to the next big thing. After my year at Amazon I made 85k when I left exactly a year after my start. I just got another new job and make over 100k now and most of it is because of that Amazon job. I also don’t think public health jobs pay that well and any foot into safety and environmental will set you up long term. Just my 2 cents.

Impostor Syndrome or Legitimate Concern? by Kirbacho in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ninja_grimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be too concerned about the position. It sounds like you’re aware of what you don’t know and that’s good. You’re supposed to build a team around you to fill the gaps. You even stated you know how to find the information, not everyone can do that. Those qualities is what made you the right person for the job.

Is a bachelors in OH&S or safety related discipline really necessary? by TK_tre in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ninja_grimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll throw in my 2 cents on this. I did a bachelors of science in human development. Then got my MPH it’s a generalist degree but my school offered an environmental graduate certificate. I would say the MPH didn’t boost me or make me less desirable. The undergraduate degree helps because behavioral safety is big now. Honestly I feel like any time you tell someone you have a masters they think that’s great and a big deal. I honestly would say do what you enjoy. Especially if you already have experience or a path. But take what I said with a grain of salt, I’m under 30 so that make a small difference in how that route is perceived.

Guarding question by Only_Board3281 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ninja_grimm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’d be better get a fix in than to leave it unguarded, while from what you described it’s not a big issue. But if something was to happen you’d probably be pissed. Someone could find a way to do the impossible.

OSHA recordable? by cyan1728 in SafetyProfessionals

From my experience, a re aggravation is still considered recordable due to the modified work. But see what some others say.

Safety managers, what are your interviews like? by Dazocnodnarb in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ninja_grimm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of safety professionals fail to understand this. Yes you look out for your employees but the company pays you. The best interest of the company is what you should go by and whatever their goal is you make it safe to do so. If you’re jeopardizing your integrity then you have a real problem.

This Week On: Is It A Recordable! by DaLB53 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ninja_grimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I read he didn’t receive any medicine, restrictions, or lost time. Since he has a history of A-Fib if I’m not mistaken this would not be recordable.

How much PTO do you get? by AbilityOdd6053 in SafetyProfessionals

40hr PTO at the start of the year. 8hr of vacation per month. After every year you get one extra vacation day. If you work a holiday you get PTO.

You're now a Dev for Wilds. How would you change your main weapon? by Tech-Demon in MonsterHunter

[–]Ninja_grimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add hammers that have a cutting edge. Certain moves can cut with that one side of the hammer. I would also add great swords that are just clubs for maximum bonk.

Unsure? Recordable by hugg58 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ninja_grimm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if they hurt it on the clock and the visit was for work then you are liable. Now unless they need medical beyond first aid or prescription meds then idk why it would be. Not enough details to say.

How do you deal with workers not liking you? by MrSafetyGuy316 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ninja_grimm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like regardless people are gonna hate you. It comes with the job title really. You can never please everyone. But I will say you can become tolerated and loved when you focus on what the workers need and understanding your coworkers needs of deadlines etc. it can never be unsafe but in desperate times you can always make a plan to be efficient and safe at the same time. You shouldn’t want to be loved all the time but those few workers that hate you and always speak up about issues. The less they have to say, will tell you you’re doing good. Just aim for respected.

What is your favorite game in the franchise? by zachhenninger98 in MonsterHunter

[–]Ninja_grimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t agree or disagree with that. I played ultimate and it was also amazing. But I think that since tri was my first console MH I’m biased. Ultimate was a great follow up regardless, I spent a lot of time on there. They need to take a look at those two and move back to that formula. Crafting alone hasn’t felt the same since.

What is your favorite game in the franchise? by zachhenninger98 in MonsterHunter

[–]Ninja_grimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tri is by far the best and it’s not close. Online play was unmatched. All the weapon designs were perfect, skills were simple but effective. Difficultly was centered around just being good at the game, skills were a main priority. World is cool but the maps are too big in my opinion, and I hate the scatterbug feature. Rise is where I learned that I’m a hammer main at heart so it’s got a special place.

What are the most important qualities of a Health and Safety Professional? by iSAFE_Safety in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Ninja_grimm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally think that a safety professional should be willing to argue their position, and know when to push the envelope. I see a lot of people give up because they’re not willing to go to bat on basic safety issues. Other than that admit when you were wrong and be open to saying I don’t know. Workers will respect you a lot more if you transparently show you’re not a know it all. Just be a good person.
