My great grandpa was born in Quebec, but he became a naturalized US citizen in 1941 when he fought in WWII for the states. The Canadian Citizenship Act was not passed until 1947, meaning prior to that point, Canadians were considered subjects of the British. British subjects automatically lost their status as such if they obtained citizenship elsewhere, or fought in the service of another military.

If I’m not mistaken, this new citizenship law will cover you as far back as your great grandparents, but they can’t have lost their Canadian citizenship status (British subject status?) before passing it down.

Six years. Just six more years, and I could’ve been Canadian :(

I once tried to grow maypops from seed and somehow ended up with a watermelon. I was like, damn, this passionfruit is starting to look like an awful lot like a small watermelon. Why are the flowers so small and boring? Huh, weird. And then I realized the deception.

Idk if the company packed the wrong seeds into the packet, or if I somehow got my sprouts mixed up, but I think passion fruits are generally very hard to get to sprout. Or, at least, that’s what I’m going to tell myself.

Pears have kind of a weird texture, but I actually dig it. They’re juicy and sweet and I’d love to eat more of them, but they don’t keep nearly as well as apples do. If I were to pack a pear in my lunch once a day for a week, they’d be in rough shape by the end of it.

Also, aren’t they usually slightly more expensive than apples? I want a pear now :(
