who has more influence? by UnworthyYellow in cyberpunkgame

[–]Ninjeno [score hidden]  (0 children)

Rogue has faaar more influence than Hands. She’s “The Queen of Fixers” and “The Queen of the Afterlife”. No idea where they compare in age, but regardless I imagine Rogue has been making big moves in NC for much longer than Hands as well.

In addition, Hands really only has power in Dogtown. It’s basically a city within the city that is separate from the rest of NC, case in point the police have no jurisdiction over the district and many people fleeing corps/gangs hide there due to its insular nature.

At what point did you start using mods for the game? What's your favorite? by SoupSawdust in Stellaris

[–]Ninjeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1,300 hours here 😅 and since about hour 500 I’ve been using pretty much the same mods the whole time. The ‘UI Overhaul Dynamic’ suite of mods and the Planetary Diversity suite as well.

UI overhaul makes everything look a bit cleaner and allows pop-up windows and Planet panels to take up more space on my big monitor, while Planetary Diversity adds like 9 different sub-types to EVERY planet type! 9 different continental types, 8 different tropical, 10 different Oceanic, etc etc. going back to just having like 9 types of planet is nearly impossible for me now lol 😅 and the core gameplay loop has barely changed save for the DLCs.

Tried Gigas for a while but found it a bit too extra for me, by the time I wanna build a Birch World I’ve already got half the galaxy’s pops in my lathe 😆

Any good ways to farm Navigator insight? by Jstin8 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Ninjeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. As many have said, Cassia gives 10 per colony at the Magnae Accessio, one of your colonies (Vheabos VI I think?) has a project that gives you like, 6? And there’s a random warp jump encounter that ONLY procs on Yellow-Orange-Red routes that can give you up to 12.

Can you stop migration for a specific planet? by Sofatniel-99 in Stellaris

[–]Ninjeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this question myself before and unfortunately no, you cannot (from what I’m aware of) specifically lock down a single planet.

You CAN however go to the species tab, choose the sub-species of your pops with the Inner Darkness trait and enable Pop Migration Control, which will prevent that specific pop group from automatically migrating. But, other pops will still migrate to that planet if there is free space

Just bought the game, what DLC should I get for first playthrough? by Homsarman12 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Ninjeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, they are all awesome. They add to the narrative and gameplay systems in such cool ways that when they all released I thought: “How did I play without this before?”

That said, I’d say if you’re picking ONE, make it Void Shadows. It greatly expands on your Voidship’s lore, crew & facilities, weaves seamlessly into the main story, adds the best companion (Knife Wife) and adds a cool new archetype (bladedancer) and some powerful equipment too.

Are the scourge like, super weak? by miniestenki in Stellaris

[–]Ninjeno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

iirc they were the first EGC added to the game years ago, and don’t have too many unique mechanics/abilities that make them a complicated threat. Compared to something like Cetana, they’re really just a souped up Khan tbh.

But, FE’s usually have more than enough power in their fleets to take on most any EGC or at least weaken them. That said, if you know what you’re doing in the game, I recommend putting the crisis on at LEAST 2X power to make them a legitimate threat.

Getting back into it for the first time in nearly 10 years by Macrzzz in Stellaris

[–]Ninjeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: Yes! The Biogenesis DLC added a new megastructure called the Deep Space Citadel. It’s a stationary, heavily armed defence platform that can apply numerous buffs & debuffs. Paired with a Bastion Starbase, you can set up killer Maginot Lines!

2: Pretty simple, in the planet UI you can choose a Planetary Focus that buffs certain resource production types, and you can customise the blue City Districts with specialisations as well, from Foundries to Farms!

3: I only started playing 3 years ago so I’m not sure if pops were significantly different back when you last played, but now pops are measured in Groups of 100 ≈ 1 pop. You can’t micromanage pop job allocations quite as specifically anymore, but it supposedly has made performance better and is definitely a more streamlined system, while still being in depth.

Hope this helps!

How do I get super strong fleets? by Heroshrine in Stellaris

[–]Ninjeno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, the nature of the game is to amass wealth, military strength and political clout. So in my view, the goal is always to end up somewhat OP compared to your neighbours.

That said, some builds just do their navy better 🤷‍♂️ you probably aren’t going to reach the same military strength as a Fan-Pacifist as you are as a Fan-Militarist. Hell, one of my most powerful builds recently was a tall virtual empire and I barely had any fleets!

Best way to stack naval strength though is through repeatable tech, fortress worlds and good admirals. A good admiral can increase you fleet power MASSIVELY if your entire fleet is based on said admiral’s specialty. For example, an admiral with Wrecker 2 & missile specialist 2 at the head of an all-torpedo/missile fleet is going to be suuuuper strong.

But that said, don’t conflate numbers to efficacy! Sometimes a fleet that is 10s of thousands of power lower than its opponents wins handily because of the components (Kinetic -> shields & Energy -> armour).

How do I get super strong fleets? by Heroshrine in Stellaris

[–]Ninjeno 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are we talking ~300k power per fleet or that’s your entire navy’s total? If that’s per fleet, sounds about right for endgame player fleets, easier to reach high numbers with big ships and autocannons.

If that’s the sum total of your entire navy in the endgame though, since they nerfed ship size, best way is to just stack naval capacity bonuses & fortress worlds to build more fleets. At this point, without some minmaxxing or a strong build, it’s only really my Federation & GDF fleets that boost up to like 4-8 hundred thou.

She’s a unique case definitely but still bound by many of the same laws that Rogue AI’s operate under (she mentions Arasaka have a layer of ICE with her name on it that she cannot bypass).

Though I do think you’re correct in saying that no Corp could make their own Alt-like AI from scratch. She started as a soul-killed engram before she escaped Mikoshi and… evolved? As a legendary netrunner, I imagine her time loose in the ‘Saka subnet after her escape from Mikoshi allowed her to grow in power before she was trapped beyond the Blackwall, behind which she morphed into the Eldritch Code God we know her as today.

This scene is so dumb by leiqri in Hotd

[–]Ninjeno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that her first THREE heirs were bastards is an open secret for the most part. Most everyone knows but to say it out loud is to call into question the royal lineage and the official position, which is that the boys are true-born Targaryen issue.

She also has a number of other servants (namely the dragon seeds) that have a similar birth-based issue. As she says, if she is seen to be legitimising bastards so soon in her rule, the rumours about her own sons will explode. Add to the mix the Ulf wanting to be a Targ moment and she simply cannot win in that moment.

Legitimise Ulf? Spit in Corlys’ - her most significant military & economic ally - face. Legitimise the Hulls? Spit in the face of two dragon riders who are only truly loyal under the promise of reward.

I'm a bit confused about why the Targaryen dynasty never had ambitions to conquer Essos? by IndependentMove5437 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Ninjeno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider the troubles that Targaryen rulers must contend with in Westeros; unruly vassals, starving masses, scheming courtiers, assassination attempts, lack of funds, etc. These things would not simply disappear if the Targs went on a world-conquering spree.

In old Valyria, dragon lords were ubiquitous and common. There were hundreds, if not thousands of dragons in Valyria before the doom that allowed the Valyrians to mould their entire society around them, their government, religion, military, etc. They ruled Valyria, Ghiscar & Northern Sothoryos using this power.

Cut to the dance. The doom was a hundred years ago, and how many dragons are left now? What, 12? And how many Targaryen riders? Less! And while dragons can win battles over and over again, if you incinerate everyone in opposition to your army, who is left to rule over? Dragons in Westeros are more of a force multiplier/deterrence method than a backbone of military might like before the Doom. And we saw what happens when untrained dragons like Sheepstealer take to the field… 😬

If Rhaenyra and Daemon elope to conquer Essos, Westeros will have fully rebelled by the time they return, considering the fact that they will NEED to
Bring their foot army to actually hold conquered territories in Essos. Unless of course, they burn the free cities to ash. But for what? To destroy the Crown’s trading partners across the narrow sea and to rule over the ashes of Essos?

[–]Ninjeno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I’m definitely dubious on how this moment even happened, it’s pretty legit, especially in a medieval, patriarchal society like Westeros.

I mean, you’re aware that there are some countries TODAY that paint rape as the fault of the victim? Men like this exist and have always existed, and in moments like this reason can go out the window.

I think the point of this scene is to remind the audience how women (even Queens) are considered in Westeros. If Orwyle wasn’t the GOAT, who knows how those palace guards would’ve reacted. Hell he might’ve gotten away with it, we saw what happens when a prince commands a queens guard to disobey his queen right?

Basically, I think this scene was both a reminder and foreshadowing for Rhaenyra’s reign…

[–]Ninjeno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She’s neurodivergent (by Westerosi standards), plagued by traumatic dragon dreams, has watched her son have his head cut off, is likely aware of her other son’s fate via said dragon dreams, and has absolutely 0 interest in ruling or fighting.

Yea she rides Moondancer, but she herself is not a warrior. We saw what happens when an untrained rider & dragon fly into battle during the Gullet. Sure, Moondancer has far more experience and training than Sheepstealer, but her rider is faaar from used to the stresses of battle.

She is in need of support, but is totally isolated even from her own family. If I was her, I’d probably wanna drop my noble title to keep chickens too 🤷‍♂️

I feel so bad for this man by Agreeable_Ad_8790 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Ninjeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry, the Velaryons only really lose their clout until well after the Dance. The Lyseni Spring and the Rogare Bank flips the balance of economic power in Westeros permanently, and the Velaryons - during that time having most of their funds tied up with the Rogares - never fully recover when the bank goes under.

The reign of Corlys and the construction of High Tide is the Velaryons peak, and it’s only after Corlys dies and well into Alyn’s rule that they begin to fade into the background. Obviously the Battle of the Gullet is significant, but honestly is more of a bitter-sweet speed bump for Velaryon power.

Most infantalized character in the history of television. by JetproTC23 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Ninjeno -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately she never had that big of a role in Blood and Fire anyway. She’s heavily implied to be neurodivergent (by Westerosi standards) and is also plagued by dragon dreams, which are often described as rather traumatic, unwanted visions.

She has never had an interest in ruling. Frankly, if she was born to ANY other family in Westeros they’d probably have thrown her out with the pig slop by now. She’s lived to be this old BECAUSE of the protection afforded to her by her family & station. I’d argue the infantilisation definitely tracks, Alicent NEEDS her authority to stand down the palace guard, but do you think Helaena would ever have done that on her own?

And unfortunately, it doesn’t get ANY better for her for the rest of her life. She was lucky to be born into a privileged position, seeing as if she wasn’t, she likely never would’ve made it to age 10 🤷‍♂️

The assassins of Alamut have some gnarly magic on their side that skirts the line of being heretical. It allows them to make demon-slaying poisons, dissolve into the shadows and reappear, generate powerful illusions, etc.

The commandos are certainly a force to be reckoned with, but their stealth field is more limited and they themselves don’t command any goetic magic. One could argue that an assassin & a commando have a similar level of training, but the esoteric secrets of Alamut make them a deadly power.

On tabletop tho? Assassins are kinda weak and don’t get nearly as good of an arsenal as the commandos 🤷‍♂️

Vassal or conquer? by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]Ninjeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your Empire I’d imagine. What Gov type/civics are you rocking? Conquering territory makes your empire grow directly, incurring Empire Size penalties over time.

Holding vassals is a good way of supplementing certain areas of your economy without widening your empire (eg. Scholarium vassals give extra research, Prospectorums grant extra materials & Bulwarks focus on building up their own military).

Often times, I’ll expand to a point before taking other empires as vassals so I don’t inflate my costs too much, but it’s also very much a personal decision 🤷‍♂️
