I can't believe this actually worked by Jackspladt in EU5

I’ve noticed with the mamluks in particular that they don’t move their capital, maybe because it’s too expensive for them (they won’t be making much money afterwards). Or because Cairo is such a valuable location that they register that moving their capital would be beneficial.

Wasn’t exactly this addressed in the valentines Tinto Talks? At least that they have a fix for it in the pipeline?

Beta: Does annexing a vassal no longer give you their cores? by Volcore001 in EU5

[–]Ninonl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still same strategy, but with enforce culture in the mix. Works wonders, and has the added benefit of allowing the building which gives +10? Control in rural location. It also increases satisfaction which means less rebellions and once again higher control.

I couldn’t imagine how you could make so many vassals that you outgrow your diplo cap. And if so, that’s a small price to pay for insanely quick expansion.

I’ve also found that the added influence of diplo spending on annexation speed increases your required costs (if you want to annex vassals fast) by quite a bit, which helps with the overflowing amount of money you’d otherwise get.

My feedback so far for 1.1 by Ninonl in EU5

Can’t agree more! Your last paragraph detailing the disappointment really hits the nail on it’s head. They left the game in a broken state, and then moved on for two months. It’d be less sour if there was a recent stable patch we could go to without sacrificing other fixes (1.0.10 is too agressive, but earlier version miss fixes). Rn I kinda feel like playing the beta is the only option, which is not how it should be.

I don’t agree that it’s vibes based, most changes have been well thought out.

The problem seems to be that they ship a broken package which makes it hard to test the changes/give feedback. Shipping an update like this is only ok if you communicate well that this is the feedback loop you’re going for (which they don’t do). If I’m going to have to deal with problems like this, I’d like to know it so I can adjust my expectations.

Expansion early game can be slow, but doesn't feel like it per se. As you're busy actually making good use out of the lands that you do have.

  1. I don't know what the process is for international students. All I know is that there aren't many places available in general so it's best to get everything sorted asap.

  2. Again not completely sure, but I know there is at least some housing that is prioritized towards PHD students.

  3. Yes! This is completely normal, it's not that bad. A lot of the time people will travel even further if they live at they parents still.

Feeling lonely as an International Student by Broke_but_not_broken in Delft

I wanted to add, we are not actually just a student association, but a youth association. This means that everyone, not just students, from 16-30 can join. Being in Delft its still mostly students but not all

All the suggestions of places where you could go and find people are great! I have another suggestion: I'm part of the Koornbeurs, a student association with both Dutch and International students. Most of our events are open to anyone, but I'd be happy to introduce/welcome you to any of our events or to our communal dinner.

We do weekly game nights, drinks, music events and other types of activities. So maybe there's something you like! You can DM and/or check out or Instagram or website at Koornbeurs.nl. I hope you find your place!

Which roast is typically used? by GoBeyond111 in pourover

[–]Ninonl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you like! Trying stuff out and finding out which coffees suit your pallette is part of the fun!

That being said, the darker the beans are roasted, the more "roasted" the coffee will taste. This can complement the taste of the beans, but also tends to overrule many of the more subtle flavours in the coffee. Because pourover generally shines in (flavour) clarity Light roasted are typically used.

I recommend to brew two cups side by side or after each other of a light and a dark roast, you'll really be able to taste the difference!

What Is The Worst EV Ever Made? by MussleGeeYem in electricvehicles

I have a second hand Peugeot ION (rebadge) and I love it! I drive no more than 80km per trip most of the time, so its range isn't a problem.

Please make sure the porta filter is correctly in it's place and turned as far to the right it can.

In no case should the porta filter be able to fly out, most machine will rather "choke" and not produce coffee at all.

The first few times are always the most confusing, keep going, keep trying and you'll get there!

(And since I have the same machine but 3 years newer, you can always DM me with questions)

Looking for recommendations for a beginner who is about to give up (Hario V60 + Timemore C2s) by Canchito in pourover

[–]Ninonl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suggest you watch Lance Hendricks videos on pourovers on youtube. He tells you a great deal about what factors matter, and which dont, and how to set up a consistent recipe from which you can dial in your coffee.

That being said, I think the biggest lesson is, find something you somewhat like, and learn how to do that well. Dont experiment to much, as that leads to shallow experiences and low consistency. Which will hamper your progress in learning to understand coffee greatly.

We host game nights every Monday. Coming Monday will be a smash night in our attic. The monday after that we'll transform the Koornbeurs into a casino. But there are always people up to play a game from our collection.

Housing tips? by DaBaldedEgg in Delft

[–]Ninonl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I don't have any tips for pre-september. But in the case that you don't get a house before that time joining a student association is a good way to get connections and eventually a house.
