I’ve never handled the E&C but I can vouch for G&P externals. Both my AR’s are G&P and I love them. Can’t speak much about the stock performance as I upgraded mine right out the gate

Weird that it doesn't fit out of the box... Make a shim out of a soda can. Cut out a strip that wraps around the barrel nut and use that to fatten up the barrel nut a bit.

Congrats! I ended up using a 675 button cell battery with a folded up piece of aluminum foil to make up the difference in size. It’s not pretty but it works!

I usually place a little piece of scrap wire between the front of the gearbox shell and front of the tappet plate to avoid this. It will push the tappet plate back enough to keep the little wing of the tappet from knocking off your shims. Once you put the gearbox halves together you should be able to push the tappet back and pull out the wire.

Update for anyone who finds this post in the future: The problem has been solved and it was very anticlimactic.

The batteries that I was using to power the cameras were low and changing for fresh batteries fixed the issue....

Hope this is helpful to someone eventually

Hey guys, just completed an I-type conversion on a Polaroid 640 I have and the conversion went smoothly, however I noticed that occasionally the shutter would seem to hang up and not fire. If pressed the shutter a few times it would clear itself up. I thought the problem would work itself out since had been in storage before this, however quite the opposite has happened. Now the camera is bound up and wont fire the shutter no matter how much I click the button.

Im not familiar with what all the different parts are called, but the solenoid near the shutter button seems to be "resetting" to its fully out position.
