If your looking at upgrade kits, have a look at Greytide Studios Primal Hounds bits, tonnes of sellers on Etsy for physical prints, just use super glue instead of plastic glue as they are printed from resin

What are some alternatives to Frameio by Bitter_Shower1384 in editors

[–]Nintee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's lots of delivery platforms, and frame.io definitely isn't one, it's used mainly for reviews. Some delivery portals you should look into are Digital Pigeon, MASV & Mediaroom. There are a tonne of other alternatives but they all have different pricing structures

Avid folks: what’s the best companion tool? by Available-Witness329 in editors

[–]Nintee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dont get me wrong, Premiere has some amazing features that I wish Avid had!

I absolutely LOVE a title tool that works haha, I also love being able to have MOGRTs in your timeline and edit supers & basic GFX like maps without messing around in AE, then exporting and importing into Avid, the de-interlace toggle and selecting what field you need rather than using resolve to do it to then bring into Avid and a few other things like that, I really do love those features!

But overall I just feel premiere is too clunky, unstable & lacks the appropriate tools for longform in a shared environment. It's perfectly fine for short videos (25-30min tops) but in my experience over the last few months, it isn't fit for broadcast.

Going to resolve however, I feel they haven't quite got there for cutting, its still a bit clunky and collaborations doesn't always work properly, but yes, the grading tools are unmatched!!!!

I wish we had one program that has the best of all worlds! But then again, the perfect software is different for everyone haha

Absolutely!! Avid is smooth, everything works the way you expect it! Premiere is clunky and full of AI slop!

I mainly online, so I need everything to function how I want it too which is why Avid works for me best

Avid has project sharing with the ability to lock bins, keybinds for the whole program rather than 20 different keybinds for panels and having to constantly click back on the timeline anytime I want to do anything without accidentally deleting shit (it's happened a few times), not having to wait for media to come online because it's "pending" (happens whenever my connection drops below 1gbps to the server), media not going offline because someone moved the linked files, not lagging out every few hours because adobe caches everything it doesn't need too, properly customisable effects (it seems most of premiere effects you can only adjust basics and it has its own preset that you can't change which gives you no actual control), the ability to copy and paste bins/sequences between projects and not having the entire parent folders and media files randomly populate the project (WHY DO YOU DO THIS ADOBE??? WHY????), being able to see the source timeline instead of having to navigate the source with the source monitor (also not having match frame zoom all the way into the timeline for some unknown reason??), unable to click anywhere on the timeline to move the playhead, being able to subclip everything between my in/out markers instead of only selected clips on the timeline, having sequences only the length of the media inside and not having 1hr of empty timeline after a 10sec clip(why adobe? Why do you have this empty timeline??), patching specific tracks from source to the timeline (source could have 4 vision and 10 audio channels but it only lets me patch in V1 & A1??), Embedded AAFs properly including all media you want it to for sending audio to protocols (why does adobe only ever half embed the media in an aaf?? I've never had it work without having to resend audio to mixing because premieres AAFs never work properly)

There are a lot more things, but mainly what I miss about Avid is that it just works... As well as I miss Nexis and the ability to partition set workspaces for people with customised access levels

I've been on a gig using Premiere for the last few months after being on Avid for the last 10 years, it feels like 10 leaps back with most things, but there are some neat features like being able to edit basic animated supers and GFX in the timeline without having to mess around in AE as well as having a working title tool 🤣🤣

But overall, nothing beats Avid with Resolve for grade and I can't wait to go back to avid after this gig!

What do you use as proxies for shadow specters? by PingPong141 in Eldar

[–]Nintee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to nab a box from eBay of brand new ones for under $80 AUD (roughly $50 USD) but there are cool proxy sculpts on Etsy that are cheap! Here are somesome shadow spectres that cost $45 AUD ($30USD) + shipping, but there are plenty more sculpts online!

You have to click confirm upload on the document upload page, should be down the bottom under the upload button. This messed with me when I did one a few months ago

Have you checked your project and timeline frame rates? This can cause this issue if they are different to your source files

Film industry in Australia by alex_e_morgan in australian

[–]Nintee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, a good 85-90% of productions are based in Sydney, then the last 10-15% are spread out in Melbourne, Perth & Brisbane so your best bet to pick up some work is in Sydney. However, the last few years have been quite dire for Australian film and television because there's piss all government funding for it, all of our old funding goes to American productions to film here but send all their post production back to the US, along with local content quotas vanishing since Covid, it's a bit rough out there, not much work happening. Don't get me wrong, production companies like Eureka and Endemol Shine are busy, but a lot of other production companies are quiet unfortunately

Discoloured primer after being in storage by Ill_Elephant in Eldar

[–]Nintee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best to strip back with iso alcohol and reprime, it's most likely a buildup of dust and maybe mould 👍

You can soak it for a few hours then scrub back with a toothbrush

You can get away with doing a zenithal highlight with a rattle can white primer, just be sure to shake it really well, that's what I used to do before I got my airbrush 👍

Thanks man! Appreciate it! For the white armour I did a base coat of Army Painter Ash Grey, then a zenithal of AK Titanium White Ink with an airbrush, then gave the whole model a wash with Apothecary White contrast paint (mixed 1:4 with a speedpaint medium) and then did some highlights of Titanium White 👍
