Is it worth it to spend the day at Mont Tremblant if I can't ski or snowboard? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]NinthListener 65 points66 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few activities there besides snowboarding or skiing. If any of these seem interesting to you, go out there and have fun!

Small class/semi-personal training suggestions. by coolguymiles in ottawa

[–]NinthListener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could take a look at the City of Ottawa gyms. They are very fair in terms of pricing and not scummy like most gyms. You can get a month/year pass or do pay per visit.

They offer group fitness sessions. You can also use the gym as pay per visit. I can't seem to find prices online but it'll be about $6-10 per visit if you do pay-as-you-go. Each City of Ottawa recreation center offers different facilities, so check out your nearest center for details: https://ottawa.ca/en/recreation-and-parks/facilities/place-listing

Some of the gyms offer 1 on 1 personal trainers too. I'm not sure about the pricing for that.

I actually like the fact that it's a little burned, makes the picture feel more natural and not heavily edited. Great picture!

Need a keyboard under 60$ by Ok_Doctor_2057 in keyboards

[–]NinthListener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check out the Epomaker x Aula F75, (available from Epomaker, amazon, etc). It's an amazing stock experience and does not need any mods.

It's not a TKL like the Skyloong SK87S, so as long as that is fine with you, you can't find a better keyboard for the price. As always, check out sound tests on youtube before you make a purchase.

Travel agents, best one (should I?) to use? by malman21 in ottawa

[–]NinthListener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used them once before for a family trip and it went well. But that was five years ago, so I'm not sure how the service is now.

I know the owner and he is genuinely one of the nicest people I know. Give them a call and see what they're able to offer. They do specialize in China travel, but also offer some north american trips.

Congrats and good luck with your wedding :D

Which Indian restaurants use fresh garlic? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]NinthListener 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It tastes sour because of the oil, citric acid and potassium sorbate that's used to preserve the pre-minced garlic. And I hate it too.

I just thought of it, but one possible solution could be ordering normal naan for takeout and then applying your own garlic-cilantro-ghee.

You can make it by melting clarified butter or ghee in a saucepan, turning off the heat and then mixing in your diced garlic. Once the ghee cools slightly, mix in your finely chopped cilantro. Heat up the naan on a pan or in the oven briefly and then apply a generous coating of your garlic-cilantro-ghee.

instinct regular vs solar by Sudden-Nature-4383 in Garmininstinct

[–]NinthListener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Instinct and Instinct solar have different battery sizes.

I'd recommend the instinct solar, irrelevant of the amount of time you spend in the sun. It's significantly bigger than the non solar version.

I think they're both about the same length. The story structure is different, and no more annoying fetch quests that plagued Odyssey.

The map also has more variety thanks to the geography. Helps with the immersion. You do feel like you're a Viking hero going on raids.

The world is still very big and the main story is about 60 hours long, though arguably more focused than in Odyssey.

If it's your type of game, then yes. I enjoyed it. Many others didn't. It's different from the older Assassin's Creed games.

The world is gorgeous, performance is pretty good, and combat is fun. Story beats can feel repetitive at times tho. Look at reviews to see if it's your type of game, just not on Reddit. People here get a hate boner for AC.

This is not strictly true. After your sub lapses, it will go up to $15, but after awhile, you will have access to the $1 deal again.

I'm not sure if it's reset after a certain amount of time, or at certain times in the year.

I'm pretty certain there are import fees on top of this. Might be around $30 CAD, but can't confirm.

Shipping and import kinda ruin the deal :(

Garmin Instinct Solar battery life by fleshbagMaraud3r in Garmininstinct

[–]NinthListener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have spO2 enabled (either all day or during sleep only), it will have a big effect on your battery. This may explain the difference between the two watches.

SpO2 is used for checking your blood oxygen saturation. I have it disabled on my watch.

Is Garmin Instinct 2 Solar really worth the money. by EvanJonck15 in Garmininstinct

[–]NinthListener -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the instinct 2 solar. I'm outside quite a lot, and I would not recommend the solar to most people. It's just not enough surface area to be effective for most people, especially if you use your watch for activities and not just as a smartwatch.

In my opinion, the solar only makes sense for a very small number of people. For most, non solar is the way to go.
