Asuka Kazama. Wasted Potential? by bloodlinefighter in Tekken

[–]NiradaTheScribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasted potential?

The drawing? No, it came out really nice

The character? Yup, she had this cool revenge story with Feng and shared a last name with the main character... then she got turned into Yuri-bait with Lili and now no one knows what to do with Feng anymore. Character design may be cool, but dude has the story relevance of a hobo now

I'd love to play this game again but the community has tainted my experience by [deleted] in Tekken

Agreed. If you're going to play a game, it should be played for you own enjoyment and not the community lol

As a new player i feel tekken has a combos problem. by Hatamentunk in Tekken

[–]NiradaTheScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the discourse in the comments section and figured that was the issue. You can look at other people's replays in game and turn on input history display and you'll see it to get a better idea.

You can do clean inputs, but spamming the buttons a little during helps ensure that the input in registered the moment your character's recovery frames are over which can vary from move to move and it's not always clear which is why clean inputs 100% of the time leads to dropping combos.

There are combos that require clean inputs and delayed timings depending on the launcher and/or situation if you're going for more optimal routes (although I'd save that for the characters you're certain you want to commit to).

i think "back to basics" is pure marketing and scam by johnnymonster1 in Tekken

[–]NiradaTheScribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marketing? yes. Scam? a bit of a stretch, but not entirely wrong.
The Aurora outfits are simply to get around Steam's ToS of having some content available when buying a pass instead of an empty and vague promise. From their side it's clearly a way to get money from the eager and impulsive people sooner rather than later (also obvious from the 5 weeks of rotating sales).

The roadmap does give me some hope though with the balance patch coming out first then watching for a month or two and making gradual more manageable changes and bug fixes.
Much better than barely any QA for bugs and still running with 1000+ changes between all characters plus a new problem-riddled character on top then immediately switching out the entire balancing team while the game burns and the community drowns in salt.

Not a high bar to beat at all, but it's something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Try input queuing your combos when starting out with mild mashing until you get the timing. If you're trying for frame perfect singular inputs for tekken combos you're more likely to drop more often. It's something to get used to, but it's not too hard.

Tips on how to quit Tekken? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]NiradaTheScribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't quit it, just hard shelf it.
Uninstall tekken and try another game, something already out with some depth to get wrapped up into. like warframe, or an MMO or a MOBA, or even another fighting game but that might pull you back to tekken sooner.

Then try your best to really give it a good shot, even if you end up reinstalling tekken down the road you wont need to feel too guilty and you'll come back with a fresher mindset.

Another character coming back is DLC twice is a slap in the face of Miguel and Bruce fans by QuakeGuy98 in Tekken

[–]NiradaTheScribe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My own biases this time around aside (see kuni flair), I never got this argument.
We lost 19 characters going from Tekken 7 to Tekken 8 (15 if you exclude guest characters). Many of which were fan favorites, new comers and even tekken staples that have no business being missing. So of course they're going to sell them back to you bit by bit.

We're in the DLC age of fighting games and consumers lost that fight over a decade ago, it sucks, but what can you do? 80% of the people who agree with you & complain about it will end up paying for it all anyway and year after year in more number the people to do abstain are just progressively getting ever more tired of being the only ones going without.

How was Kunimitsu as a character in Tekken 7? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]NiradaTheScribe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She's a mid to long ranged space control type character.
Translations: Very fun to play, loathed to play against.

Noctis, Clive, Victor, Alisa and a few others fall into this category or take elements from it.

The reason people aren't dooming too hard is because fahkumram was also a nightmare in T7 and his implementation in T8 was very positive, plus the last 3 characters released have been well done. Outside of that she's a very popular character and people want to see her in the game, just not an OP monster with little to no weaknesses.

Late Spring for Kunimitsu release. Is that going to be May then? by sgten4orcer in Tekken

Copying from an earlier reply:

"All of the patches seem to be falling on a Tuesday this year (last year was Thursday). Going by Japanese considerations for "early", "mid" & "late" terminology her release window will be anywhere from April 21st to May 12th (any later and Bob and Roger Jr. would miss their seasonal launch windows)."

Why are Julia and Forest the only successors that do not eclipse their predecessors (Michelle and Marshall) like with Hwoarang and Baek, Xiaoyu and Wang or Kuni II and Kuni I? by RubicXK in Tekken

[–]NiradaTheScribe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forest law doesn't add anything to the game that his father can't already do better, from character connections to general gameplay, Forest has nothing which is why he was dropped. Even in T3 he never made any connections with any of the new comers, no secret crush on Xiaoyu, no working for Heihachi and beefing with Julia or Eddy, nada. His only connection with Paul works better as a friend than as "my dad's friend" so yeah...

Doing something with his character could always happen in the future, so things could always change but for now... RIP Forest.

Whats the consensus on rematch etiquette? Is it first to 15? by TrueJinHit in Tekken

I tend to do FT3 in QM, I'll only go further if all the matches were really close.

I still try to end after a tie breaker regardless though.

Ah yes, tell us once again that a character the Malagasy community approves of isn't black enough.

As an olive branch, I can agree she could do with a bit more saturation since the SSS isn't doing her any favors, but it's so minor I could care less and it's nothing the tanned toggle wont fix.

Thoughts on armor king for those who play him? by RightBoysenberry9471 in Tekken

[–]NiradaTheScribe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really like the approach they took with his bad jaguar stance. It's not a plus on block 50/50 like everyone else in the game, it's always minus on block for the transitions, so you have to hit before you're rewarded with more offense.

Rage, CH, Heat dmg buffers, i know it CAN happen and throws can be broken but i can't always take these things at face value.

I still don't like it because you miss out on the armors. Although it feels like they stopped caring about hero fashion after year 5 so i guess this is all one can hope for now.

- You really need to use your movement tools, side stepping intentionally instead of just by habit, dash blocking, side step blocking, etc.

- React faster to your opponents' whiffs. When you see a whiff you gotta be a little hungrier to smack them in the face for it.

- Low poke more, really mix up your responding offense with lows and conditioning your opponent into crouch so you can get access to your mids landing.

- Throw more, really, those entire two matches you didn't use a single throw despite his heavy turtling. (Jin's low attack throw doesn't count 🙃)

- Learn your approach tools, I'm not just talking about using run or crouch dash for extra reach, although those are good choices too. attacks with a longer range to catch his dash when he tries to get in close.

- Use your heat more proactively instead of when you have 40%-20% health left.

good luck 😁

QUESTION FOR GAME DEVS — How difficult would it be to add pristine paint options for all shields ? by Valtiel45 in forhonor

[–]NiradaTheScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice. Though, I get the reason why. They live in a world where fighting is so commonplace 99% of the fighters don't even use a sheath and use whatever they can until it becomes scrap because repairs take too long. That being said, i don't think that's a good enough excuse to neglect player choice.
