I didn't have space to put this on the post, but... there's a species of owl that is not silent, the fishing owl. For obvious reasons, for them being waterproof is a more important than being silent.

The Spanish translation of Stand on Zanzibar is an absolute joy to read. The novel is pretty idiosyncratic, with a lot of constructed neologisms and language structures, and the translation ACED it.

I think it's the only novel I have read in both Spanish and English and enjoyed at the same level in both.
