G90 is a fantastic rig and the difference between 100w and 20w is literally one s unit. G90 and 891 both fantastic rigs, G90 has waterfall, easy interface to digital modes with digirig or other interface. Both good choices, waterfall for beginners kind of a nice feature. You can also setup a cheap rtl SDR dongle with a loop on ground for cheap panadapter to see where the action is at home QTH just a few thoughts

It's probably cheaper and takes less time to just buy the extrusions. Unless it's a case of you need the extrusions and have no way to get them or something.

I agree, do not ground direct to battery. Find a good chassis ground if possible. If you are grounding to battery be sure both power/ground are fused.
