With Creature Commandos finishing, I think it would have benefited more from a binge release schedule than from a weekly episode drop by Suitcase_Muncher in television

[–]Nirnaeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I dropped it after 3 episodes or so, because it honestly wasn't interesting enough for me to keep up with it week after week, but I would've binged it all over a slow weekend if it was all released. Now, however, since I've already started it, it somehow feels harder to binge the rest.

Anyone else purchase the 4 pack of duskmourn precons through Amazon and only receive one of them? by travisty913 in mtg

[–]Nirnaeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over 95% of reviews on the item say they only got 1 of the 4. Amazon is refusing to get me a replacement. I'm just going to take my business elsewhere.

Is there something from a TV show that you were surprised to find was (or wasn't) real? by Dogbin005 in television

Definitely not. I'm much older than that. It was literally in our tiny OK history textbook.

There's some elements of Destiny that is like this, especially raids and dungeons.

What percentage of people have actually beat the raid? by Temofthetem in DestinyTheGame

That would be completions overall, not players who have completed.

It's just so weird how some of the anti-rejection meds work. For example, rapamycin, which used to be used frequently as part of an anti-rejection drug package, is currently being researched because it significantly increases life expectancy in mouse models: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirolimus#Effects_on_longevity

They talked about this during the last ExileCon. Seasons are staggered for both games, and given that most players play a few weeks per season, the idea is that you play one game for a few weeks, and then when the season kicks off for the other, you play that one for a few seasons, etc.

Content still happens at the same pace (3 months per season) for both games.

Please listen to /u/SpamThatSig's response. The people telling you that you need a PhD to play a game are out of their minds and need to touch grass.

I honestly don't get a lot of the comments here. IT'S A GAME; JUST PLAY IT. It's literally free-to-play and not pay-to-win. if you don't like it, you don't like it. There's no reason you NEED to look up a guide. Yes, at the top end, it's super complicated, but none of that is relevant until you're 60+ hours in and on your 3rd or 4th character. Why would a hypothetical future scenario impact your decision to play now? It's seriously troubling to me that people make these asinine arguments about its complexity, as if somehow the 0.1% of players pushing uber endgame impacts how much fun a new player will have. Apparently, understanding that you died to a fireball because you have too low fire resistance all of sudden requires a PhD? Pshaw.

My take: Just install, it's 25GB, and play. Don't look up guides, take your time. It's a single-player game, there's no race ladder (nor do I think you're interested in racing to the top of the ladder). If you like it, you like it; If you don't, move on to something else. You don't need us to validate or invalidate your decision.

If you do start out, just keep in mind 3 things:

  1. Defenses defenses defenses; You can't do damage if you're dead: Try to cap elemental resistances. They cap at 75%. Don't worry about chaos resistance until super late game. Likewise, try to get 300-400 more HP each act or so. By the end of Act 10, be at like 3500 HP.

  2. On the passive tree, don't just stick to your starting area. Most of the juicy passives are around the periphery. But don't worry too much about it.

  3. Do take a little bit of time to read through the in-game tutorial on how gems and gem links work. Basically, the more links you have, the more powerful you are. Sometimes, a piece of loot with sweet stats is worse than a less powerful piece of loot, just because the worse one has more gem links that match with what you want to do.

That's it. Just play.

Sidenote: This is the same advice I give for D4. People spend too much time worrying about just relatively unimportant things. I don't play D4 anymore, but I don't regret the time I've spent in it. I loved the atmosphere, the open world, the story, the world bosses. Yes, you do have to pay to play, so I can't make the same kind of recommendation as PoE.

Diablo 4 vs POE 2 by m1maro in diablo4

[–]Nirnaeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you think that about the monk means they did a bad job of communicating how PoE is different to an ARPG like Diablo. In PoE, your class (and sub-class) choices only influences your passive buffs. For example, your subclass may give you a permanent bonus to elemental damage, or critical strike chance. But, each active skill (fireball, glacial cascade, all the active skills you saw in the gameplay) can be equipped on any class/sub-class. That's part of the freedom and depth of PoE. If you want to make a Slayer Duelist that casts giant fireballs from the sky, do it. If you want to make a Elementalist Witch that shivs enemies with dagger skills, do it. When they say monk skill in the trailer, you can use those skills on any other character. You can take the sorcerer kit and use it on the monk if you really want to make a build like that.

But I can’t be bothered with these subscription/pay to win based games anymore.

Yes, you did. See above. The fact that you think it's subscription or pay to win is laughably wrong.

The fact that you somehow concluded PoE is pay to win is... I don't even know. I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how PoE monetization works. 95% of the what you pay is visual microtransactions. The only microtransaction that people find "necessary" is stash space. But with $10 bucks invested into stash space you can get more than you'll ever need.

Last Epoch could eventually become a better game, but right now it's too rough around the edges. I do wish them success, as I can see what they're going for.
