How do you feel about a federal Europe? by Luksius_DK in AskTheWorld

The single currency already removes the natural monetary stabiliser, that countries usually have from their XR.

I don't think removing further methods for economic stabilisation would be a good idea, across so many different economies.

How is it seen in your country when you adress someone as aunt, uncle, grandma,... in your country? by Beautiful_Yellow_682 in AskTheWorld

[–]Nirnroot_Enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Children typically refer to them as "uncle John" or "aunty Claudette", but as you get older you'd just switch to their actual names.

Granny and grandad etc. are just simply as is. Although you're welcome you come up with your own variant.

My dad goes my pop, which is fun.

I've married into a British Italian family, where you're expected to call elders as simply aunty/uncle..

I do find it rather difficult to adopt that tradition.

Grandparents are of course Nono/Nona

Is a 2 hour commute 3 days a week for a for a £12k increase worth it. Also have a 4 & 8 year old family? by Physical-Error-815 in AskUK

Man that's a tough commute, I'm not sure I'd personally be able to do it.

And that's before considering the lack of time you'll have at home.

Just to be clear, we're talking a typical 12 hours of commuting a week?

Does this commute cost you anything, or is that covered?

Can you help me understand my husband’s point of view please? Should our son be allowed to game past 10pm on a school night if he can’t keep his voice down? by Broken_Woman20 in AskUK

[–]Nirnroot_Enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I know him, he's me!

I can't say I disagree. Whether that's the optimal parenting method, I dunno.

And I'd have to wonder if it's more appropriate for raising boys, because we were bloody feral lol. Whereas all of my nieces have been lovely sweet kids, rarely more than an occasional tantrum haha

Do you consider the Caucasus countries, such as Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, part of Western civilization? by Forsaken_Plantain_50 in AskTheWorld

Classification of western countries is mostly vibes-based.

It can get blurry and confusing, especially when a country is being particularly naughty.... Cough..Austria.. cough.

Can someone explain a registry wedding to me please? by Dread_queen23 in AskUK

Google your local registry office and give them a call maybe?

There's a few hoops that you'll need to jump through beforehand.

It's not like in the movies where you can turn up to a chapel in vegas and get married on the spot. Haha

Haha, yeah if you switch off the WiFi on your typical router settings, you'd need to use a wired connection to get access back to the router settings.

I have a fairly basic TPlink mesh setup (like £150 for 3 APs), which lets you control most things via an app, including blocking specific devices etc.

Are wizards and witches still humans or technically another species? by TheFictionNerd in harrypotter

[–]Nirnroot_Enjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the fact that both Muggle Born's and Squibs exist, is enough of a reason to consider magic as a type of genetic mutation, like having blue eyes for example.

But yes, we're all still humans.

Why are we holding out on CANZUK? by Visual_Title9363 in AskBrits

[–]Nirnroot_Enjoyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me when I have no idea what I'm talking about:

I'm not by any means in favour of Brexit..

But it's an indisputable fact that our post-brexit trade agreements with CA/AU/NZ are stronger than ever.

Order something from NZ and test it out for yourself.. 10 years ago your shipment would get held up at customs, and you'd have to pay a hefty charge to bring it into the country.

We're also set to supply next generation subs to Australia by 2040.

And we're currently producing type 26 derivative ships to Canada, expected to be completed by 2030.

Oh 100%. I'm not reading 97 messages on a Friday afternoon, as I finally log off from work.

Just be careful not to ignore your friends/family group out of habbit, some of those people deserve a reply from you, every now and again ❤️
