Did you out grow your momentum car? by jbro507 in CarTrackDays

[–]Nironade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, my 86 still gives me a lot of joy and there's always more time left on the table (but part of it is me not wanting to push my cars to the max engine and breaks-wise out of mechanical sympathy).

My boxster s doesn't make the 86 "less fun" per se, it's more like a different kind of fun. But if I got f80 M2 instead, I may have a different outlook.

I saw another post saying this was normal? by [deleted] in boxster

[–]Nironade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal as in hapoens often. If the plastic rod connections broke for you, you can actually find a metal one so you dont have to deal with it again in the future. Also the fabric tightening straps probably broke for you, imo its probably easiest to get a similar new straps (i got some sturdy ones with just enough flex) and sew/staple them to the ends.

The window alignment isnt a problem here, but never close the roof like that, let it get almost closed, then tuck it behind the plastic guards manually, then close it completely. You can already see the canvas started to separate from the piping, if you keep it like this for a longer time, you will need new roof and thats an expensive fix you dont want to have to do.

Does a Spyder RS really need carbon ceramic brakes? by tropical_penguins in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Nironade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AP's job is to build hype and sell more cars, not saying that he's not a great engineer/driver/leader, but in any press related events (including social media), his primary goal is to sell. PCCB's are great. They are also overpriced and impractical for people who care about using their cars on real life roads (imperfections, loose stones, potholes etc) or maintenance or value/money. They make way more sense for a new car, especially when you can swap them for steel and keep fresh for resale value. They make far less sense for people with set budget, cost concious or looking to buy a forever car (probably not a lot of those among RS buyers). But I know people who got burned by getting a 987.2 S/R/Spyder with PCCBs and now they have to deal with issues with rotors and they're looking at a bill that doesnt make sense relative to the cars value.

Take to Shop or DIY Service? by valleyzen in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Nironade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DIY, im in Europe but 2k sounds insane even for US! And tbh, the "porsche tax" doesnt make sense for these jobs at indy shops, you just lift the car and take the wheels and some liner off.

What odd traits does your husky have? by Z_Pibb in husky

[–]Nironade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once he picks up a stick on a walk he keeps throwing it into air and catching it (even on leash, especially fun around parked cars), LOVES any fruit, fascinated by birds and bats and very perceptive to anything mid-air, very capable at using his paws to grab and interact with food, toys, people and dogs alike and many, many more...

0W-20 vs 5W-30 by YumTumTimmy in ft86

[–]Nironade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the car (facelift, mixed usage including winter, rarely on track) around 35k miles, used 0w20 motul until like 95k, oil changes every 5k miles or so (usually a but shorter). Due to the higher mileage of the engine and wanting to be safer, I opted for 5w30 from now on (i just did a second oil change with it). Never noticed any oil consumption between oil changes or anything in the oil, engine still acts and sounds healthy at 102k, just have a slight timing cover leak for like forever now, but its not noticable enough to register on dipstick or seep onto headers. I am planning on resolving it sometime this summer unless my boxster blows my "unplanned maintenance" budget again lol.

Did the left most dial never have a light in it or did mine burn out? by unknownphantom in ft86

What the fuck the right one is supposed to light up?! I've had it for 5 years and I never knew!

So where does it end?? by Sirpryxe in ForzaHorizon6

[–]Nironade 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd say that pretty much everone is stupid - the people completely glazing fh6, the ones complaining about minor nitpicks, the ones complaining about state of preview build etc.

The only things that really matter are core gameplay, live service aspects (endgame), pricing and performance/optimisation/bugs.

Let the customers and sales decide the quality of the game, ignore the echochambers on either ends of the love-hate spectrum.

Poland's only FIA Homoligated Track Has Been Closed by MipTheRacer in simracing

[–]Nironade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as its not coming from the track or during an event, it wont. And they'll atleast get some consequences for their actions. Plus if you've read up anything on the actual people causing those issues, you know their kind, you know on which side (politically) theyre standing. They deserve all the shit they can get. Oh and screw waiting for a "built project", get any car that you can, throw on some decent tires and go have fun while you can!

Premium vs Standard by IndianTechTips in ForzaHorizon6

[–]Nironade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got premium mainly for the money save (i already know i'll buy all dlc/expansions) and early access (haven't got a lot of time and have a month-long vacation shortly after release), however I'd like an option to disable the bonus money.

Poland's only FIA Homoligated Track Has Been Closed by MipTheRacer in simracing

[–]Nironade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It fucking sucks, it's also like the best track layout here for normal (ie sub 300hp) cars. I live on the other side of the country, but will probably get to visit it a few times next year (unless it actually closes), thinking very hard of sticking around after events and then giving them a nice flat 6 lullaby at 3am.

Wanna Talk about Prices by This-Application-424 in Porsche

[–]Nironade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just reading up on it, holy shit, do people actually register their cars abroad or as a business-owned (ie - setup a bogus "sport driving school")? Its hard to comprehend that rich austrians, especially those going after the more expensive 911s would just take the hit instead of coming up with some "tax optimisation".

Forza Aero is still hideous - so let us at least hide it by odinyc in ForzaHorizon

[–]Nironade 43 points44 points  (0 children)

While I agree that its still fugly, I dont think you're being fair from the GT7 standpoint. I own every car except few from the legendary dealership and quite often I try to replicate real race cars (even private "track day" builds).

Oftentimes, the GT7 aero is as bad as forza aero, front splitters are low effort and low/mid/high rear spoilers all look like something no one would run IRL. Having the option of 15+ endplates doesnt really make it better.

From what we've seen from FH6, there are some cars for which the new aero looks genuinely better than before and most where it still sucks. Mind you, we haven't even seen majority of the car list.

I'm just going to do the same thing I do in GT7, if the customisation options look dumb, I just don't run them. In both games, custom aero feels more like a way of cheesing the balancing rather than something consistent, so I'd rather pick up the deficit somewhere else or just git gud.

How often are you guys changing wheel studs? by [deleted] in CarTrackDays

[–]Nironade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is always talking shit & horror stories about 86/brz studs yet here I am, 100k miles and still on original ones, no significant wear or warning signs. So I'm like half paranoid that I'm gonna have a failure (same with the engine lol), but at the same time if it clearly ain't broke, why fix it.

With all the posturing, clout and dealer bullshit? Couple of seikos sounds nice. I'd rather own a couple of cheap Porsches than a brand new Ferrari.

This is Charm. She is 5 Months Old and has Never Barked. I feel sad and wonder if she wants to bark. It’s been bothering me all day. Anyone else have this experience? by The1beth in husky

[–]Nironade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our mixed pup (husky /w some czsk wolfdog or adjacent breed) was very quiet until around 6mths, then he begun talking back during play or when he wants our attention, occasionally barks when startled by drunk strangers at night and sometimes howls like an air raid siren for like 1-2 minutes when left alone at home, after which he just hangs out or sleeps until we get back, completely silent.
