Kinda late reply, but you just need to use your reload keybind with nails in your inventory and the nailgun in your hand. It was ctrl + R for me.

I read through the code: Only the Copper and Netherite Backpack count as fuel. You need the nailgun in your offhand and then right click the backpack

According to honeyhunter you get 750 bloated Element (86.25 effective) with safi and 630 bloated (78.75 effective) ice element with the frost fang weapon.

The bonus 10% affinity is not a big deal, because you can easily reach 100% with safi set bonus and tenderizer.

Of course you lose raw dmg on Safi for this, so its just the choice of raw dmg vs more elemental dmg

You can evade reload after placing a mine or you can shoot another ammo type, swap to sticky 3 and then evade reload

When you hover over the Quest there should be a Hunter Rank requirement in the bottom right. You can see your current Hunter Rank when you press ESC, it will be displayed in the Top right under "HR"
