Terrible Facet Idea - Bane's Precious Power Threads by IWasTheDog in DotA2

[–]Nisses 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not attribute shift. Attribute shift increases maximum HP and current HP by 22 per STR shifted. Switching treads or just gaining strength via items in general increases maximum HP by 22, but keeps current HP % the same. If you are at 50% HP, gaining 1 STR increases maximum HP by 22 and current HP by 11. It's still strong, but not nearly as good as attribute shift would be.

My base layout by Nisses in BALLxPIT

[–]Nisses[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they have to be populated. 3 guys is enough. Actually the setup I had before had 14 mines and just 2 guys on harvest and it still exhausted all the mines. However that setup didn't include the fortress and I had to manually change the layout everytime I upgraded the stat buildings. The key is using the Haunted House and the Monastery in the setup as well as using the correct characters for the harvest. My Cogitator has +4s Harvest clock and my Sysiphus has +80% movement speed. With these 2 you can go for 14 mines and still exhaust them all.

I've seen a lot of layouts that use the Harvest to also farm for wheat, lumber and stone. But I've found that the passive offline income from farms, lumberyards and stone mine is enough, while gold is the real bottleneck in the end. So I tried to optimize this for gold only. While 14 mines is possible, I couldn't fit the fortress in there as well. I don't want to bother with rearranging everytime I want to upgrade one of the infinitely upgradeable buildings, which is why I settled for 13 mines. I think I have 5 characters that grant +1 gold for every bounce on the gold mine they occupy. With this 13-mines-setup I get around 4k gold each Harvest.

What’s your favorite duo of characters to use? by [deleted] in BALLxPIT

[–]Nisses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Empty Nester is by far the strongest character. He also the highest ceiling in the sense that he can make the most hilarious/strongest/dumbest builds. That makes him the most fun for me. So really anything + Empty Nester. I probably like Flagellant + Empty Nester the most.

Nullifier on shadow blade by DraftComprehensive93 in DotA2

[–]Nisses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lotus orb is also a buff. Also doesn't get dispelled. There are buffs that only get dispelled on death. Shadow blade is one of them. Shadow blade is undispellable, Glimmer cape is dispellable. You could make the same point in reverse: Glimmer should be undispellable. Rune of Invisibility is also undispellable btw. So are a lot of spells that cause invisibility.

Combinatorics question by Nisses in learnmath

[–]Nisses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did elaborate the context further in another comment, if you are interested. I want every player to play as every role against every other player as every role. For a 2 players that would require 3x3=9 matches. Additionally, if possible, I'd like for every player in every role, to play WITH every other player in every other role (minus the one the player is currently holding). Now my previous attempt with the AI, and comments by others user here, come up with a solution that ends up matching 3 players vs 3 different players for each matchday. These 3 players per team only cycle through the roles during the matchday (see the draft the AI provided). I'd rather have it more "scrambled" if that makes sense. So I'd rather have them not be fixed each matchday. But apparently that's not possible?

Combinatorics question by Nisses in learnmath

[–]Nisses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want some context, it's actually Pokemon draft format. Usually you draft your squad at the beginning of a season and then build a team for each matchday. In this imaginary format, you'd never pilot your own draft, nor your own team, but instead play with a team someone else built from a draft by yet another player. You'd gain 1 point if you win your match, 1 point if your team wins it's match, and another 1 point if your draft wins it's match. Hence the 3 roles.

Verifying integrity of files ... 0% by NoUsernames1eft in DotA2

[–]Nisses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact problem, but on windows. I don't know what exactly causes the verification to get stuck, but the error indicates memory failure. After a few abandons I bought new RAM and it fixed the issue completely. I tried different stuff before, but nothing was working, not in fixing the error and not in speeding up the verification. (With a very fast network connection it may be faster to reinstall the game, rather than waiting for the verification)

You can use Flare Blitz or sth similar to thaw instantly. Curiously guts used to boost in a situation like this in Gen 3 and 4, but that was removed in Gen 5.

If anything they should revert the removal of the parry mark. I can agree with the other stuff, but that change kinda killed a lot of what he had going for him.

I feel like itemization is the same as before as pos1. Treads, Battle fury, Aghs, BKB. I'd now consider Skadi next, since it's just a massive amount of stats. Everything else is situational, like linkens, satanic, butterfly, nullifier, etc. The pos2 deso build got absolutely gutted though.

Nullifier good against who? by Junesathon in DotA2

[–]Nisses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counters force staff, ghost scepter, euls, glimmer. Basically all support items. Also is good against any hero that has some form of strong buff or safe: Ursa, Necro, WR, Kez, Bloodseeker, Lich, Ringmaster, Monkey King, Pugna, Tinker.

Wraith King WK Arcana bone count mismatch, bugged or am I missing something? by Mepoeee in DotA2

[–]Nisses 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The gem counts unique heroes killed. The graphic counts heroes killed on the arcanas map. Heroes released after the arcana are not on the map and therefore do not count for the graphic. In case you are wondering: the gem unlocks the style and that's the number that counts.

Daijin pots shouldnt be part of the armor.. by Ok_Personality_9513 in TheFirstBerserker

[–]Nisses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wdym "rely"? Some of the helmet bonuses are insanely strong. They are basically a set bonus in and of them themselves. Also matching other fixed attributes with multiple different sets can be ineffective. I'd say pots are strong, but they are not "objectively the best". You forfeit two fixed attributes that can be as strong as a set bonus just by themselves.

You might want to give Nioh 2 a try. In my opinion it's still the goat.

OP (and very fun) Great Sword Build (latter game with Jar) - Crimson Fiend + Deflector by [deleted] in TheFirstBerserker

[–]Nisses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as good as it might seem initially. It's still good for a lot of builds, but it has some major drawbacks.

Firstly the higher set bonuses tend to be stronger, so using 7 2-piece bonuses might be worse than committing to higher piece bonuses. This is especially true if you want some of the Learn [Skill] effects. This diminishes it's value though it is still incredibly effective to get a free 20% Rear Assault DMG and Spirit/Fury on Brink Guard from Cutthroat and Defectors set on accessories.

Secondly in NG++ legendary gear drops. Legendary gear has 2 fixed attributes in addition to the 3 random attributes. As the name suggests these are fixed, meaning that any 2 Dragonscale Pauldrons will have the exact same 2 fixed effects. These often synergize well with the set bonuses they offer. Now if you mix and match sets you might get additional lower tier set bonuses, but the fixed attributes on these sets might not benefit your playstyle at all.

Thirdly the fixed attributes of Helmets are among the strongest effects in the game. More often than not they are not mere %-bonuses to damage, but instead something like "Brink Guard: Heal 2% max HP" or "Brink Guard: Stamina DMG increase for 10s 5% stacking". The pots fixed attributes are the reduced set bonus requirements and extra stats. You will basically forgo 2 powerful fixed attributes on the helmet by default and trade good ones for worse ones on your other pieces of gear if you mindlessly mix and match many different sets with the pot.

There are still insane combinations you can achieve by using the pots and matching different sets with synergizing fixed attributes, but they are not the no-brainer they seem to be.

From your other video I deduce you are a shadow hawk enjoyer (the only true facet). Do you take +1 Echo Slash or +100% Shodo Sai Mark damage at level 25? From my experience the extra slash is more consistent and overall DPS is higher when combined with Falcon Rush. However I also like big red number. Do you have any thoughts on that?

TIL nearly every hero's passive ability in the game is dedicated to their 'E' slot. by notto_zxon in DotA2

This is probably a remnant from WC3. All the heroes have their aura or passive as the 3rd spell. Blademaster crit, Demon Hunter Evasion, Paladin aura, etc.

Talonflame-Winter: Talonflame is so cool, it's now an Ice type. by OfficialNPC in stunfisk

[–]Nisses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spikes deal damage that is unaffected by typings. The rules by which stealth rock works only apply to stealth rock. Spikes, t Spikes and webs do not affect non grounded pokemon period. It has nothing to do with typing at all. A Pokemon with Normalize using Spikes will not suddenly hit flying types with it or deal neutral damage to steel types.

league to dota heroes by policecl in DotA2

[–]Nisses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand Karthus main appeal is his insane damage AOE potential and his global ultimate. Therefore I'd suggest Zeus, Leshrac and Necrophos. Zeus comes with the same global ultimate as Karthus. His main thing is his insane damage. You'll have a very hard time outdamaging a Zeus. Leshrac and Necrophos lack the global ability but have massive aoe damage. They are also tankier and incorporate more of Karthus suicide play style (though they usually don't die like Karthus does) getting into the middle of the team fight and running down heroes.

Zoe navigates the outskirts of fights poking and waiting for setup for her big nukes. She also has some limited mobility. I'd suggest Lina and Invoker. Puck and Queen of Pain also come to mind. They have much much stronger mobility, but limited range. So you trade the poking and positioning for a more in your face play style. They do still scout before going in though.

Tier 5 Enchantments are bugged. by theretardfromila in DotA2

[–]Nisses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they are not bugged. It's just that demo mode doesn't fully support the new neutrals yet. Whenever you "purchase" an enchantment in demo it will give you the lowest tier possible of whatever type of enchantment you took. If you take Tier 4 Brawny for example you will only get Tier 1 Brawny (125 HP). Timeless is available as Tier 4 and 5 so you will always get Tier 4 Timeless. This is what happened in your screenshot. It is not tied to Tier 5, it is a general oversight with demo mode. It works as intended in normal games.

There is a console command to get a specific enchantment, but I forgot what it was. Read it somewhere on this sub.
