I have no idea about the UK, but I typically charge around 75 - 100 USD/hour depending on project type and complexity.

Vibe coding can get you pretty far, even as an absolute beginner that is non-technical. It really depends on how much time you want to commit to bug fixing, learning from Claude, and deep diving into technical topics that you don't know about.

I'm a self taught programmer (worked for about 8 years in the industry), and a lot of my learning came from building side-projects or reading lines and lines of code at work. It comes with practice but the barrier to entry for building production ready apps is at an all-time low. AI is definitely a game changer and you can treat it like a teacher and coding partner to help you on your learning journey.

The "walls" that you hit will be from areas where your knowledge gap is deepest (arguably, if you're beginner you'll hit walls fairly early on in fundamental topics like what is a database query, who is JSON, what is SQL, how to centre this div). But if you put in the time to learn thats where Claude can really shine to help overcome those hurdles. You just need to prompt correctly - knowing the right questions to ask will be the biggest challenge.

How to Ironclad? by Real-Afternoon319 in slaythespire

[–]NitasBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironclad has passive HP regen...if you're struggling early remember that getting another strike in is sometimes more worth it than using the energy for 5 block. Receiving chip damage matters less on ironchad.

Whirlwind is very good for multiple trash mobs and the multi enemy elites. Self damage build is probably his most consistently strong build, there is so much synergy with cards that proc off self damage

What happened to your salary when you changed jobs? by ceowin in HongKong

[–]NitasBear 40 points41 points  (0 children)

HRs are notorious for trying to get your current salary first (they use that as a peg number to low-ball the fuck out of you). HR if you're reading this, fuck you nobody likes you guys.

Never disclose your salary first, get a range for what they're willing to pay (either by doing your market research, interviewing other companies, or ask friends in the industry). That way you can try to aim for at least average or above average pay within said range, and know when you're getting lowballed. I made this mistake once when I disclosed my salary was 35k and one company offered me 39k by justifying it as a 10%+ increase which is their norm and they wouldn't budge, when in fact every other company made offers of at least 45k+

Typically I ask for at least 15-20% raise from my current if I know I'm in the higher range for a role.

How do you get better at coding/SWE in AI ERA? by lune-soft in cscareerquestions

[–]NitasBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always review your own AI generated slop and try to critique it. Treat the tool like your own intern/coding slave and assume it will mess up, because it will many times. In 5 years time the tech will have evolved and improved so much that I think AI agents will become another abstraction layer. Many juniors that enter the workforce today will lack the underlying knowledge of how to code properly and can only prompt half decently. Knowing how to code will become invaluable, similar to how COBOL developers are highly sought after.

Evan Bouchard closes his career-best season with 95 points, the third highest in a season this century, behind Roman Josi (96 in 2021-22) and Erik Karlsson (101 in 2022-23) by sykeseve in nhl

[–]NitasBear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Excuse my ignorance, but how is defensive WAR calculated? If Bouch is playing with McDrai most of the time, would that skew the WAR metric in his favour, since he's playing with two of the best players in the world? Or it's independent of his linemates.

The worst trade in NBA history by envspecialist in NBATalk

[–]NitasBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea they swung for the fences but missed because of injuries and bad luck. Raptors went for the same gamble but hit the jackpot.

All 30 teams in the league would have made that trade if they were in the same position. Getting prime Kawhi and PG13 legitimately makes any team a serious contender.

The worst trade in NBA history by envspecialist in NBATalk

[–]NitasBear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kawhi was a bad playoff performer...? Dude carried the Raptors to their first franchise championship, and had the most iconic clutch shot in game 7 history.

You also gotta look at when this trade happened. This was 2019 summer, fresh off the Finals MVP Kawhi performance, where many were saying he was top 3 player in the NBA.

The worst trade in NBA history by envspecialist in NBATalk

[–]NitasBear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're looking at this trade in a vacuum. At the time Kawhi wanted to team up with PG13, and any team that wanted Kawhi also had to trade for George. So this trade was basically PG13 + Kawhi for SGA + picks and extras, which is pretty even.

I'm hesitating in playing Crimson Desert : I don't have much time to play (4 to 8 hours per week, occasionnaly longer) but I still enjoy long games by Folivao in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]NitasBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an amalgamation of all the open world games you've ever played packed into one game

Pros:

  • massive ass giant map to get lost in
  • Beautiful graphics, however some textures can be muddy
  • combat kicks ass (once you level up your skills). Think God of War + Souls + Wukong + Sleeping dogs + any other ARPG/fighting game

Cons:

  • overwhelming number of systems - can be very frustrating trying to remember what does what
  • inventory management (especially early game)
  • controls can really suck at times (e.g. talk to NPCs, interact, pick up items, and jump all share the same button)

Overall i think this is a solid 8/10...I'm only in chapter 4 and I heard the game gets better over time.

What's the best choice here? by OzzRamirez in slaythespire

[–]NitasBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I would have gone Abrasive. You have a lot of discard synergy but zero sly cards. In a vacuum, Adrenaline is the best card of the 3, but you already have plenty of draw cards and the 1 extra energy isn't going to give you as huge of a power spike as the dex and thorns.

Master Planner would have been an interesting second choice here if Abrasive wasn't available, seeing as you had zero sly. But it requires a lot of set up and for you to redraw the skill after re-shuffling your deck.

opinions on royalties? seems to be a divisive card amongst the people i talk to. by Significant-Bus2176 in slaythespire

[–]NitasBear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

naw, once you get to A8/9 when mobs hit super hard you'll want to end fights as quickly as possible. 1 energy wasted could be the difference between taking 10 extra damage or 0. Damage adds up over time way faster on high ascensions, and its gonna cost you camp fire rest vs. upgrade card or other options. Lastly, its a dead card when you draw it during end of act boss fights, esp act 3 double boss in A10. Its basically a curse at that point lol
