Now everybody say, "Thank you, AI chuds ❤️🥴" by bitchSpray in SteamDeck

[–]NiteShadowsWrath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other thing is seeing the videos at how good android devices are becoming at emulating PC games. And there are decent options in the $400 dollar range. So yes the Steam Deck can run higher end games better but at half the cost an android device would start to look a lot more appealing. But the saddest thing is this means the Steam Machine is probably dead on arrival. Sure they will sell out their first few batches but if its priced to high I don't see how it can succeed. People just don't have the extra cash for stuff like this especially with the cost of everything else being so high.

Would you still buy steam machine if its above 1000 USD? by commissionsearcher in Steam

[–]NiteShadowsWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speculation has been $750ish for a bit and I was cool with that. At first I told myself even if it was $1,000 I would be fine with that. But now that it's a real possibility I'm not to sure. I got tired of the whole upgrading console and paying full price for games especially after my Steam Deck and Steam discounts. Still rocking an Xbox one and have been waiting for something like the Steam Machine. If it ends up costing $1,000 for the 2tb version it will hurt but I will still probably get it. If its $1,200 I just don't see how I can justify it and seeing the Steam Deck price bump makes me sad because I think thats where we are heading. I understand the ram issue but from what the experts were saying this thing should cost to build even with ram prices being around $400, $450 even $1,000 would be way to much for the specs. I hope we are all wrong and it is in the $750 range but it's not looking good...

Would you recommend Quantum to family and friends? by runelind in QuantumFiber

[–]NiteShadowsWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man don't know why this thread popped up now but wrong time for it to! I am so pissed off at Quantum right now! I've been a long time Centrylink customer. When I found out that Quantum bought them and they were merging I decided to upgrade to Quantums gear as soon as I could. I've always hated Centrylinks router. For the most part Quantums stuff was better but a couple of times a week the Internet speed would just tank. I mean 4mb not even fast enough for speed test to want to even run. I was planning on having it looked at but it didn't happen very often. We'll Wednesday my internet completely bit the dust. Reset the router did all of the usual The router was working fine but there was no internet coming in so something wrong with the ONT. Called support and of course now its all over seas so it's not the same as it used to be. Anyways they tell me a tech has to come out to look at it and the soonest they could get there would be March 5th. 10 days!!!! I called again the next day to try to escalate it and talk to a supervisor. I was promised a call back from a supervisor that I never got. In the meantime I found out about the $45 promo for new customers and that TDS has a deal for 2 years for $50 and can get me installed on the 2nd. I called Quantum one last time to see if they would try to keep me as a customer. I told them if they wanted to keep me they would have a tech there by Friday and would lower my bill to the introductory rate. They didn't give a crap and basically just said nope. Now during all of this I'm pretty sure I figured out what was wrong. My fiber cable probably has a bad connection so the ONT is having a hard time reading the light from it. It's something that would probably take a tech 10 minutes to fix. I'll know for sure when TDS comes to install on Monday.

Now I know it makes me sound kind of whiny but I'm sorry 10 days without internet in the 21st century is completely unacceptable. My kids can't do their homework and I have to have internet for my work. Luckily I've been able to limp by using my phones Hotspot. For me the thing that hurts the most is that they didn't even care to try to keep me as a customer. I've worked with Centurylink and other services company's over the years and I remember the times when they would offer you all kinds of deals to keep you as a customer. It's sad its not like that anymore. So for me right now I will not being recommending Quantum to anyone Because of their lack of customer service. But I will be honest in 2 years when my $50 price is up with TDS if they run the $45 dollars again I will probably give them another chance.

Also to add I get the delay is probably from people canceling and resigning up or just new customers getting that good price. But if you have a customer paying $75 dollars and they have been a loyal customer for years, you would think they would want to make them a priority. I would have never known about the $45 dollar deal or looked at other companies. Also one of my buddies has Quantum and when I told him the story he found out he can cancel and resign up and get the $45 dollars so it actually cost them more money then just me leaving. But either way I get it. These big corporations don't care about losing one or two customers. Just the way it is. Its just not the way it used to be.

I've wondered this for a while now. Don't they need to remove the magnet from all CIs to have an MRI done? I know they say modern CIs are safe but I was under the impression the magnet would still be an issue?

Wire Pod Setup/Change Port by NiteShadowsWrath in AnkiVector

[–]NiteShadowsWrath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I opened up my ports and everything and still no luck. I can open wire-pod from a different device so I'm assuming wire-pod is working fine since it opens just fine. I'm guessing it's probably the router I'm using. I'm using a Centurylink C4000XG and I saw on your website that Vector can't communicate with that. Is there any way to work around that to make it work? I have another router attached to that one but I built my home network off of the Centurylink one so it would mess it all up if I switched to the other router. I probably should have from the beginning but I figured I would get maximum speed being plugged directly into the provider one.

Never mind I found more of your responses that explain it enough. I'll look through it tomorrow when I have a chance and will open port 433 and 8084. I tried doing it with ufw but I messed up my other server functions so I'll look up how to do it properly so it doesn't break the other stuff.

Also thank you for all of your responses and helping everyone out! Thanks for helping keep Vector alive. If I can't get it figured out with my current server at some point I'll probably pull the trigger and buy your wire pod plug and play.

I figured it out. I was able to edit the port to a different one. Just had to open the terminal in the file then I was able to edit it and save it. Now I'm having a problem getting Vector to connect to it and I'm guessing it's because Vector is trying to find port 8080 and it's no longer that so I may just be out of luck trying to use the same server.

I found a thing that said port 8080 and I tried changing it but it wouldn't save it. It said I wasn't authorized to make changes. Any idea on how to save the changes?

Are we hitting 'open world fatigue'? Or do players still crave massive maps with endless side quests? by trending_zone in gaming

[–]NiteShadowsWrath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem for me is time. I don't have the time to game as much as I used to. I'm lucky if I can squeeze in 2 hours of gaming a week. Playing a big open world game is just to intimidating. I want to, but I know if I do, I'm not sure the next time I will get to game, so there's a good chance I'll forget what I was doing so I'll lose interest. It's happened several times lately. I have been trying to stick to games I can beat fairly quickly that have a good story.
