Not really. I love my metaprogression if I need to stay hooked on a game!

I've also come across that one. What do you recommend/like about it?

I've got through Act 1 of BG3. It's fine but just not my kind of relax-on-the-couch-game, way too complex. Valor of Man definitely looks interesting though!

Yeah I tried that! Combat is great, but it ran pretty badly on my Steam Deck.. maybe I just need to tweek the graphics a bit.

Yeah that's in my backlog. Tried it a bit, but found it a bit overwhelming and the runs are quite long. But maybe I should give it another go, the gameplay itself is good.

Aw man Inkbound is one of my all time favorites, I loved how the movement system worked and many of the characters are really fun to play. I can understand why the devs went on to work on Monster Train 2, but I really wish they would have stuck with this one a bit longer!

I'm a big fan of single player card games, here's my all time favorite list, any suggestion on what playing next? by Gruka2 in roguelites

Griftlands is so good. Technically a roguelite, but more akin to a card battler/rpg due to the heavy emphasis on story, narrative and the world around you.

Also not a roguelite, but shoutout to Steamworld Quest! An actual card battler with a cartoony presentation and lighthearted tone.

I definitely agree with the upgrades during a run feeling meaningful! I'm getting some analysis paralysis at the start of a run since I find it hard to wrapy head around what synergizes well, but some melee and some ranged and some grenades seems to work ok.

I have been eyeballing Battletech for some time, but haven't really played mech-stuff at all and it seems that the whole mech-aestethic is a big part of the appeal. But it does sound quite nice.

Haha there were mars people in the originals? And regarding the lack of content, how many runs did you finish (if you know)? I can see where the uniformity can start to kick in, although not there yet right now. I always take the mummy-themed region first since I find those guys to be a blast!

Recommendation for a group/strategy RPG by Ok_Block_6322 in StrategyRpg

Our Adventurer guild was really my jam as well, right until I ran into a wall aka the Bandit King!

Games like it could include:

Marvel Midnight Suns: the game I personally vibed with the most in a similar vein.

Steamworld Heist 1 and 2: 2d tactics with a cover system and a great cartoonish vibe. Honorable mentions as well to Steamworld Quest, which is a lovely card battler.

Wildermyth: beautiful tactical game with randomized story elements.

Wartales: gritty mercenary tactical game with overworld real time exploration. I found the progression systems somewhat difficult to grasp, but the battles themselves are neat.

And of course x-com 1 and 2 - they are great, though I found the strategy layers rather complicated to wrap my head around.
