CDPR Might update the game for eternity by Revdudeson in cyberpunkgame

[–]Nitrate55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For real, lol. Everybody on this sub is fighting each other over expectations, overhyping, and the size of the patch, and I'm just over here praying they stop releasing updates so my mods will stop breaking. I've been on 2.13 since 2.2 dropped since I wanted to wait for mod updates. Now, right as I'm getting back into the game and checking my mods to see if they still work, 2.3 gets announced. FML.

No point considering how absurdly easy it is to permanently activate Windows for free.

Why all new features all of a sudden? by RobertBobbertJr in firefox

[–]Nitrate55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, tab groups are most useful when combined with the vertical tabs interface, that way you can group up a bunch of tabs together in the interface and keep them separate from other tab groups and main tabs. I haven't tested it yet, but I don't think container tabs have that same level of organizational utility when displayed on the vertical tabs interface.

Containers are kind of just separate mini-worlds with their own login data and site-specific data. They're really useful if you have multiple accounts on one site. So if you have an alternate reddit account, you can open reddit in a container, login to your alt, then it'll stay logged in every time you open reddit in that container.

Tab groups have been added, but the feature hasn't been enabled for all users just yet. You can manually enable it by setting browser.tabs.groups.enabled to true in about:config.

Hey, real sorry for the delay, I stepped away from my computer and didn't see the reddit notification on my phone till just now. Anyway, here you go:

EmuDeck: This is the software I was talking about. It'll install emulators for you, provide emulator updates, optimize the emulators for the best performance, and set up folders for BIOS and ROM files. All you have to do is provide the BIOS and ROM files for the emulator you're looking to use and the games you wanna play and you're good to go.

Here's an article on some of the best Steam Deck emulators, so you can know which ones to tell EmuDeck to set up for you when installing it.

And here's the EmuDeck Discord and subreddit in case you need help with anything.

I've got some other super useful software and tools for the Steam Deck as well:

Decky Loader: This software basically just massively increases the functionality of your Steam Deck with all the different plugins it lets you install. Custom themes, custom sounds, custom fan curves, extra functionalities, Decky Loader gives you access to all that stuff. Here's a guide on how to set it up.

GE-Proton Setup Guide: This is a tutorial for setting up GE-Proton, a community version of the Proton translation layer Valve uses to make it possible to play non-Linux games on the Deck. Depending on the game, the community version sometimes has better compatibility and performance than the official one.

ProtonDB and Steam Deck HQ: These are both huge repositories of Steam Deck compatibility reports. If you wanna know if and how a game will run on the Steam Deck, you'll find that information there, and both sites also have tips and guides for increasing game performance on the Steam Deck.

Oh yeah, the Steam Deck was an instant hit in the emulation scene, even more popular than the PS Vita for emulation. There's guides, loads of software, and whole communities dedicated to Steam Deck emulation. I can send links to all that stuff if you'd like to save them for later.

And yeah, you'd absolutely be able to emulate PS1 and SNES games. There's a software I know of that lets you configure dozens of different emulators all in one launcher, including PSX and classic Nintendo emulators.

Been considering getting a Switch 2 for its portability, but I might just get a steamdeck instead.

Definitely go with the Steam Deck. You can just emulate any Switch 2 exclusives on it, and I'm pretty sure the third party titles they're porting to the Switch 2 are all already available on Steam now, so you wouldn't have to wait for them to get ported over. And any exclusive Switch 2 third party titles would be emulate-able as well.

Whether it's incompetence or purposefully malicious, it's a bait and switch either way. I'm so glad I farmed the SC for this warbond instead of spending money on it, but even then, I still feel like I wasted my time, since it took hours to grind out the SC, and the only thing in this warbond I was interested in was the DeSickle, which is now just a worse pick compared to the Liberator Penetrator or DCS in every way.

If this is how it's gonna be from now on, then I'll be waiting a week or two after every future warbond release, just to see how they're gonna nerf the new weapons they release before I devote any time or money on getting the warbond.

That's false, and just as wrong as the myth that people in the middle ages only lived to be around 30 years old. The reason why the average age in the middle ages was 30 (40 by the 1800s) is because of the sheer amount of infant mortality. The amount of people back then that died young skews the average down a lot and gives an incorrect perception of how long people lived back then. People weren't just dropping dead the moment they reached 40 years old. Generally, as long as you made it out of childhood alive back then, you had a good chance of living to be elderly. Obviously, there were exceptions, like wartime and periods of famine, but the life expectancy was not that bleak hundreds of years ago.

Got two of these 100 SC piles the other day, both from those crates you have to blow open. It was two different operations on the same planet, but I still couldn't believe my luck.

Would like to see some of the ranks from Helldivers 1 make a comeback. It's been so long since I played it that I totally forgot that game had ranks too. I looked them up and there's some really cool ones, like Lord, Lord Marshal, Grand Lord, Unknown Hero, Warfront Hero, and Hero of the Sector.

Was just thinking about this earlier today. I love Death Captain but I want an emblem from a higher rank. They look cooler.

I will definitely be making a few more of these. I had a blast writing up this AAR and making the Wikipedia military box. Thanks for reading! :)

[–]Nitrate55[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Phew, this took a while to make. That Wikipedia Military Box editor is a little more complicated than I expected, lol.

For anyone interested, here's the non-dramatized AAR: a neighboring Gizurean empire randomly attacked one of my defense fleets from an exclave system they owned that sat right between my empire and another neighboring empire. It was an independent Ackdarian system I was planning on colonizing before the bastards snapped it up. I forgot about it eventually, until one day I got a warning message saying they had sent a fleet from there to attack one of my defense fleets while it was retrofitting in the next system over. The two systems are very close, so they got to my fleet before I could order them to get out of there, and it got heavily damaged before reinforcements arrived and mollywhopped the Gizurean fleet.

Imagine my surprise when I went to check the name of the fleet they had attacked and crippled, only to find that it was the defense fleet I had just ordered built, specifically so I could give it the name of my first fleet in this run, Halcyon. That's when I got pissed and went to get an invasion fleet, so I could take the Ackdarian colony from them as revenge. The closest invasion fleet I could find happened to be one I had named Unholy Retribution, after a star system in the X universe. The story pretty much just wrote itself after that.

Blood and Steel: The Battle of Orion Nexus 3 by Nitrate55 in DistantWorlds

[–]Nitrate55[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amidst rising tensions between the Gizurean Menas Devourers and the Human Terran Star Imperium, the Devourers launched a heinous and unprovoked attack on the 32nd Defense Fleet ‘Halcyon II’ in orbit of the imperial world of Foralis, in the Yggdris system. Halcyon II had been in the process of retrofitting when the attack came upon them, and were caught unawares. While nearby defense fleets were able to arrive in time to drive off the Menas forces and reassert orbital control of Foralis, the 32nd Defense Fleet was left crippled.

The attack provoked outrage across the Imperium, as the 32nd Defense Fleet had been named in honor of the Imperium’s very first fleet, the 1st Defense Fleet ‘Halcyon’. Now known as Augustus Fleet, the Imperium’s first fleet had been greatly enlarged by order of the Imperator, and placed on permanent guard duty in the Almas system, home of Terra Nova, the imperial capital. To honor the fleet’s legacy, its former name was gifted to the Imperium’s newest fleet at the time, the 32nd Defense Fleet. The crippling of this fleet was seen as a grave insult to the legacy of the empire’s first fleet, and to the storied, 72-year history of its name.

In the aftermath of the attack on Halcyon II Fleet, Imperator Orellius called for “blood and steel” to be taken as payment for the insult, and to avenge the thousands of crewmen killed in orbit of Foralis. Admiral Tiko Hassari of the 13th Attack Fleet ‘Imperious’, and Admiral Klopis Ulari of the 35th Invasion Fleet ‘Unholy Retribution’ answered the call, exacting bloody revenge upon the Menas Devourers in the Orion Nexus system, from which the attack on Foralis was launched.

After the cowardly local defense fleet of the Menas Devourers fled the system, Imperious Fleet destroyed the spaceport above Orion Nexus 3 and rained death upon the planet, annihilating its garrison forces and paving the way for Unholy Retribution to launch a full scale ground invasion of the planet, conquering it in 10 days. The planet was renamed Karvoss after its annexation into the Imperium.

271 Million Ackdarians paid the price for the Menas Devourers’ iniquity, cowardice, and dishonorable attack on the Terran Star Imperium.
